Received major blessing from Tomie Green
Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens II announced that a Hinds County jury has returned a guilty verdict against Ryan Christopher Hopkins for the murder of Celeste McDonald. Hopkins was convicted on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder following a case that revealed a calculated and deeply disturbing chain of events. It is frankly hard to write this post without repeatedly throwing the laptop against the wall. A Hinds County grand jury indicted Ryan Christopher Hopkins in 2020 for killing a 21 year-old woman in 2019. The case is still pending. However, a New Hampshire law grand jury indicted Hopkins in December 2022 for allegedly repeating kidnapping, beating, and raping a woman. The Patch.com reported on December 2:Ryan Christopher Hopkins, 37, of Fairwood Drive in Jackson, Mississippi, on one count of second-degree assault-strangulation-domestic violence, one count of criminal restraint, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, and two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault-domestic violence, all felonies. He was accused of repeatedly raping and assaulting a woman in Londonderry who he picked up in Arkansas between Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. Hopkins was also involved in a murder charge in Mississippi from April 2019. ArticleThe Patch.com is a Rockingham County, New Hampshire publication. ...
JPD charged Hopkins with murder in the death of Celeste McDonald. Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels denied bond for Hopkins. Prosecutors provided more information on the murder in a response to a later motion for habeas corpus for Hopkins:
Judge McDaniels ruled (per Circuit Judge Tomie Green's policy) that Hopkins must be indicted by November 2019 or else he would be released. Circuit Judge Faye Peterson held a bond hearing on April 3, 2020. Judge Peterson set Hopkins' bond at $50,000 and placed him under house arrest since his case had not yet been presented to the grand jury.
Hopkins served time for a 2009 felony sexual assault conviction in Iowa and a 2013 aggravated assault conviction in Arkansas. (You read that correctly.).
The Hinds County grand jury indicted Hopkins on June 30, 2020 for first degree murder and conspiracy. The indictment states:
based upon a series of acts connected together and constituting parts of a common scheme and plan, said Ryan Christopher Hopkins being a male human being above the age of eighteen (18) years, whose date of birth is November 21, 1985, did on or about the 31st day of January, 2019, in the county aforesaid and within the jurisdiction of this Court, did willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously, with deliberate design to effect the death of the Celeste K. McDonald, a female human being, killed Celeste K. McDonald by strangling Celeste K. McDonald and cutting her throat with a knife, all occurring within the jurisdiction of this court and in violation of Section 97-3-19(1)(a), Mississippi Code Annotated (1972, as amended).Unfortunately, the monitoring company, Hinds County Probation Services Company, went out of business so the indictment was not served upon Hopkins until April 2021.
Hinds County Circuit Judge Tomie Green kept the accused killer's bond at $50,000 and allowed him to remain under house arrest on May 28, 2021.
Attorney Dennis Sweet, IV represents the defendant. The case was assigned to Special Circuit Judge Frank Volley in October. It was continued twice.
No motion to revoke Hopkins' bond has been filed. The District Attorney's office said it is waiting on Rockingham County, New Hampshire officials to send documentation of the arrests. Once received, the District Attorney will file a motion to revoke his bond and place a detainer on him in New Hampshire.
Judge Green allowed Hopkins to drive trucks cross-country. Hence the incident up north.

There is a special place in hell reserved for Tomie Green.
Why must Hinds County continue to abide the indicted DA ?
The Tomie Green judicial term- a gift that keeps on giving
Oh I don’t know @7:58pm, because maybe this is America and you’re innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. At least for the time being anyway. Felon 47 (34 convicted counts) was elected, so I reckon Jody will still be eligible to serve even if he’s convicted, using the same logic.
So I guess I'm missing the whole what happened to his accomplice Yolanda Torns?
Jody save your praises for you & Tommie Green. Nobody is buying it after hearing your vulgar language on the yacht with LuDumba!
Crime and chaos; a Democrat’s - especially the Democrat activist judges - 2nd best friend. Because crime and chaos keep people that don’t vote Democrat from moving to one-party controlled cities, like the child killing capital of MS, and “one of the deadliest US cities,” Jackson, MS.
The only thing Democrats love and adore even more than crime and chaos, are the criminals that commit the crimes (Judge Tomie Green, the gift to criminals that just keeps on giving).
And for all of the indoctrinated sheep, including those so-called educated by professors like Yellow Dogger Sid Salter, that seems to never have an opinion about the children’s lives ruined, or even lost, in his Democrat Party controlled for decades, city of Jackson, MS; and especially for the liberal arts majors, if there’s any doubt at all, just watch the complete love affair Democrats, including their members of congress, are having with violent illegal immigrants.
We’re always hearing about the so-called “educated,” and IQ from Democrats. An IQ test for members of congress requirement? Anyone?
P.S. great reporting KF! Sending another check today.
Sweet is the real issue
9:49, I’m no Trump fan, but his 34 convictions are for technicalities prosecuted by Letitia James to fulfill her campaign promises (ironically while committing even worse crimes of the same nature herself). You are correct that Jody is innocent until proven guilty, but what he did, and bragged about on camera, are real crimes. 7:58 does have a point, though. In many similar circumstances a person would be relieved of their duties pending an investigation, such as a police officer being assigned desk duty while a shooting is investigated.
Why can't she be indicted for conspiracy or aiding?
THIS is a true serial attacker & killer. Look at Ditty Combs violent attack on women & freak offs.
Those "felonies" were misdemeanors "upgraded" by an explicity political DA (who campaigned on it) made up whole cloth. The DA even had to try and convince the rest of the business community that they wouldn't take this novel approach to go back in time and prosecute more people with this interpretation of the law.
In fact New York Appeals court (the NY state Supreme Court equivalent) didn't look too kindly on Tish's interpretation: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/26/trump-civil-fraud-appeal-oral-arguments-00181339
@7:58 unfortunately its because an indictment alone doesn't disqualify you from office and his term hasn't run up. I do know he's been functionally sidelined in most capacities and the ADAs are really running the show now. Jody still has to sign things and release statements, but I'm not sure he's doing much of anything else.
Looks like Jody is cleaning up his docket before he gets his mandatory, expense paid, vacation to Club Fed.
"Nobody is buying it after hearing your vulgar language on the yacht with LuDumba!"
Vulgar language? THAT'S what you took from the FBI recordings??
There is no telling how many women he assaulted and murdered across the country while out on bond.
I would be really nervous about my Pearly-Gate entry conversation, if I was Tomie Green.
If there is a God, I have to think she is going to have a lot of explaining to do.
I find it really odd that this post is about a literal murder. The hinds county da, Jody Owens, did a good thing here. A literal cross country rapist and murderer has been convicted by his office, and all you people in this comment section can do is talk about how Mr. Owens is charged (NOT CONVICTED) with financial crimes. Crimes where, per the reporting of kingfish and the indictment, he didn’t even take hinds county tax payer money. It was literally the FBI money to be used specifically in sting operations. This is what that fbi money was budgeted for! If it wasn’t used on this sting operation for Owens, it would be used on another investigation. So it’s not even like he’s accused of stealing. any of you people’s money!
But the people in the section are so brain rotted and obsessed with Jody Owens that they cannot acknowledge the amazing thing that a sexual predator, and disgusting murderer is off the street forever due to Mr. Owens and his office. You’d much rather talk about alleged financial crimes, with fbi play money. Instead of giving him his props and being grateful that we are all a little safer with out Ryan Hopkins out there murdering and raping us.
This comment section is delusional. You people need your priorities straight.
They are quite egregious in their obsession with Owens. If I remember correctly his office has always posted these PR releases
