Servis Sues Jackson

Zach Servis's little stunt at a Jackson City Council meeting last year wound up in federal court this morning.

The former candidate for Mayor managed to get himself thrown out of the May 20, 2025  Jackson City Council meeting. What, pray tell, did the diabolical young man do?

Servis wore a campaign t-shirt when he took the podium to make public comments but barely spoke when. City Council President Virgi Lindsay shut down Mr. Servis, claiming he could not wear a campaign shirt within a polling place.

Ms. Lindsey said City Hall was a polling place since it was receiving absentee ballots. However, the City Council meeting took place after the close of business. Thus the "polling place" was closed.

Taking great offense to his dismissal and other alleged wrongs by the City Council, Servis sued the city of Jackson in U.S. District Court today, alleging his constitutional rights were violated.

Servis argues his shirt is protected speech under the First Amendment. Although absentee voting was taking place at City Hall, the City Council meeting took place after City Hall closed for the day. However, the complaint argues the bar on candidates campaigning within 150 feet of a polling place does not apply to a facility such as City Hall that merely receives absentee ballots or after time of polling.

The complaint cites other grievances.  Servis claims City Council President Brian Grizzell stopped Servis from making public comments when he sharply criticized a city employee.  The plaintiff said Grizzell did so because Servis alleged voter intimidation at the July 8, 2025 City Council meeting.

Servis claims he would like to make critical remarks during public comments but fears doing so due to the actions of the City Council since he has been "excluded from meetings with police force."

Section 2-71(d) of the Jackson Code of Ordinances states "no personal shall address the council with reference to any personnel matter during any open meeting of the city council."  Servis argues such a statute is a content-based restriction and unconstitutionally vague.  The ordinance implements viewpoint discrimination since it does not bar the praise of city officials.

Attorney Joel Dillard represents Servis.  The case is assigned to U.S. District Judge Daniel, P. Jordan, III.

Good for him. Brian Grizzell is a bitch and thinks he gets to be a tyrant who wags his finger at people. A total clown that collects his taxpayer funded check and spends every bit of it eating out, much to his physical demise.

Maybe someone could tell us what his chances are?

NEXT!!!!

Come on, does anyone expect the Jackson City Council to know what the law is or follow it?

The code cited doesn't seem vague to me.

Boxers or Briefs? This clown should be required to walk through a shower.

We’ll live long enough to watch ourselves go from merely asking for the abolition of the First Amendment to openly demanding it—and somehow convincing ourselves that’s progress.

"That's my office". Very bitchy. I hope COJ has to settle with him for an obscene amount of money.
That interaction is a good example of how to identify elitist assholes.

He's asking for nominal damages. The City would be wise to settle quickly to cut off attorney's fees. But Zach Servis is gross.

How you see this as a first amendment slap is beyond understanding, 1:55. But, apparently you're one of the misguided who believe there should be no constraints.

Hard to believe there isn't already a standing legal precedent on this. Surely this has happened before.

I don't miss Virgy one bit. Trying to overapply the rules just to be difficult. Was way more effective before being elected. Totally the wrong place for her. She was not helpful at all on council

Non-zero, but pretty damn close.

Pretty sure the Clarion Ledger was the only news source to write about the Servis being thrown out of the meeting back in 2024. What do you think of that Jimi?

Kingfish said...

Covered it back then dumbass. Go look.

Anonymous said...

His “ music” should definitely be banned 😂

Pretty sure you don't possess the stones to start your own gig and compete with JJ in the free market. Right, loser?

Thanks for covering this Kingfish. I’m trying to find out how you knew I filed this before I knew 😂😂😂. To anyone who has questions or wants to learn more, please reach out me and I’d be happy to discuss this with you. I’m available on social media or send me an email to zachservis14@gmail.com

I don’t see any First Amendment violation here anywhere. Because, as everyone knows, the First Amendment has been flipped on its head; it protects the rights of the pornography industry to make, distribute, and sell its products. You’re living in old times if you still believe the First protects political speech.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
