Sinatra Jordan is a free man after the Hinds County District Attorney dropped most of the charges against him.
Capitol Police officers Jeffrey Walker and Michael Rhinewalt arrested Sinatra Jordan on August 14, 2022 for felony fleeing, marijuana possession, and aggravated assault that took place during a traffic stop. The charging documents submitted to Hinds County Court stated:
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Jordan for felony fleeing and two counts of aggravating assault, alleging he shot at Rhinewalt and Walker. The case was assigned to Circuit Judge Debra Gibbs.
The case managed to generate two more prosecutions but in the opposite directions. The Hinds County grand jury indicted Walker and Rhinewalt for two counts of aggravated assault for shooting at Jordan and shooting his passenger, Sherita Harris. The Attorney General was prosecuting the case.
The key word in the preceding sentence is "was" because Circuit Judge Adrienne Wooten disqualified the Attorney General from the case. Jordan's passenger, Sherita Harris, sued the two officers in federal court in December 2023. The Attorney General represented the two then-Capitol Police officers for over a year in the civil lawsuit. Judge Wooten said the Attorney General could not switch from defending Rhinewalt and Walker to prosecuting them. General Fitch appointed 14th District Attorney Lin Carter to prosecute the case.
The civil case is still pending in U.S. District Court.
District Attorney Jody Owens settled up with Jordan on March 12, 2025. Jordan pleaded guilty to fleeing a law enforcement officer. The felony indictment was reduced to a misdemeanor. Judge Gibbs sentenced Jordan to six months in jail but gave him credit for time served and ordered his immediate release. The District Attorney withdrew the aggravated assault indictments. Thus, Jordan is completely free.
Jordan was held without bond and served 940 days in jail before his March release.

"Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way."
