Hell on Sheffield

As residents tried to sleep last night, Sheffield Drive turned into a party zone from hell.  Check out this video shot after 10 last night.

Although yours truly did not take the video, he drove by at 10:30 on the way home and can verify this was indeed the scene at the corner of Sheffield Drive and Old Canton Road.  It did not take place by Last Call or the old Larwill Lanes bowling alley but right there in the neighborhood.

While people tried to sleep, a hideous BOMP! BOMP! BOMP! could be heard loud and clear on the other side of Parham Bridges Park.  Yup, a full party was in full swing, neighbors be damned.  Cars were parked down the street almost to Ridgewood as people partied on the property and partied in the streets.  The skunk of weed overwhelmed the sweet smells of spring.  Needless to say, there were quite a few complaints on social media.

The party took place on the vacant lot that is enclosed by a wooden fence.  It has a sign, Lefleur Court, that advertises homes for sale but that property has sat vacant with that sign posted for years.

JPD was called and eventually showed up but as usual, did nothing.  The loud music continued until after midnight and the party did not shut down until 1:30 AM.  It was a breakdown of civilization.

Kingfish note: This crap is a perfect example of why people move out of Jackson.  Juicy Seafood, Margaritas, St. Paddy's Day Parade. People who don't want to do right don't do right and the cops don't give a damn.  Probably because the cops wanted to party with the young women there.  Complete dereliction of duty.

It's a very sad day! Thugs have taken over Jackson, and the police department doesn't do anything! Why can't this foolishness be stopped? It's not fair for taxpayers to have put up with this trash!

Look them up and keep them in jail!

Anonymous said...

JPD is part of the Problem! Wonder what Chief Wade has to say about this, I know he can’t hold the officers hands so they just drive by!

Anonymous said...

This stuff starts innocent and small over time then it blows up. People you got to nip this in the bud!

Anonymous said...

It’s a cultural thing. I live in an adjoining city, and it’s still too close to Jackson in its current condition.

next thang they be gettin nekkid in the streets and twerking they stuff in the daylight and chit!

Anonymous said...

I didn’t get an invitation!

I’m assuming the problem is that white folks left for the suburbs…apparently it’s really hard for what’s left to govern/administer without grown ups

Actually used to visit an older lady family friend on Winchester. Used to be a beautiful, quiet neighborhood.

Anonymous said...

The CCID was expanded to cover that area. That's where the mistake was made. NEVER call JPD to handle a problem. ALWAYS call Capitol Police. Here - put this in your phones - 601-359-3125.

Such a total disregard for society and social standards that some in Jackson posses. Then try to uphold the lack of civility and subpar IQ with yelling, cursing and name calling. MENSA definitely is not in the area.

I'm not seeing any Altimas.

Was that an Academy yutes party?

Anonymous said...

I'm sending this to JPD & chief Wade & mayor Horhn.

I am curious if the bloggers reaction would be the same if it were hundreds of whites enjoying a spontaneous concert by Rivers Cuomo or Maynard James Keenan?

All Joseph Wade does is talk. Talk, talk, talk, talk.

Was this near Jackson Academy?

Kingfish said...

Of course. Nightclubs and these kinda of parties don't mix with residential. I shouldn't have to sit in my house at midnight and listen to the walls and foundation vibrate from all that crap.

If JPD had arrested every one of them and hauled them "downtown" do you know what would've happened to them ??? You got it !....not a damn thing.

Wouldn't surprise ME, to hear that one of Jackson's Carpetbagger/GoldCoast developer dynasties - maybe the very one trying to use flight school noise to destroy Madison - is maybe behind this.

"The Sheffield Ridge Miracle" described a demographic pocket kept-good by Sheffield's proximity to Jackson. Were restraints against criminality removed, in order to foster this situation? Are unseen hands manipulating the situation, in order to send the remaining Sheffield Ridge folk fleeing toward Rankin and Madison counties?

In a metro where the number of affluent households is static, NO AREA CAN BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN GOOD. Forcing people to purchase multiple homes within their lifetimes, is the primary way to optimize profits for developers.

@2:52
Clearly you don’t know the street. Sheffield is made up of mostly JA families and ole piss fans. People that swim and socialize at the tennis club or Jackson country club. Same
For Brackenshire off of Sheffield
Don’t speak unless you know what you’re saying.

2:52 PM said: “the problem is that white folks left for the suburbs.”

Not all of them 2:52 PM, but Democrats do use chaos and crime to create the flight required to make cities like Jackson one-party Democrat controlled cities forever. If Jackson were peaceful with crime rates comparable to say, Brandon and Madison, folks that don’t vote Democrat would move to Jackson in droves. And Democrats can’t have that.

And those that shill for Democrats, like the billionaires propping up Mississippi Today, the professor and the scripture quoter, well even dead children don’t cause them to dare criticize Democrats for their love of crime and criminals. And that 2:52 PM, is a definition of evil!

Anonymous said...

It was your party right?

Anonymous said...

This isn't in capitol police jurisdiction. But it will be July 1st. Right now northern boundary is Northside. But it moves farther north in less than 2 months. Will go to Westbrook and then follow old canton over to interstate. Should be a huge win for that area.

4:12 again. I typed "...proximity to Jackson Academy.", but seem to have erased 'Academy'. By the way, Kingfish, earth berms help stop sound waves in the Infrasonic and "Base" range.

And adding a 5/8" layer of drywall to existing walls and ceilings - with 'Green Glue' between layers - helps a bit. Polycarbonate storm windows help - the thicker, the better. Gun range ear plugs, PLUS gun range earmuffs, when used with a loud "patio fan" (better/deeper white noise than just a loud "box fan"), are last-resorts, and not entirely effective. Not that you should have to do these things. But in order to SURVIVE...

39211 is the next South Jackson. Get out while you still get a reasonable asking price, KF.

Anonymous said...

Yeah it was a night party with loud music but everything was done the right way. The police came through, saw there was no problem, and kept it moving. The house is the only thing that’s gated not the whole area so there was no reason to act like we didn’t belong there. It was just a birthday celebration with good people and good energy. The real issue is how quick folks are to judge when it’s Black people having a good time. We deserve to celebrate without being treated like a problem.

Anonymous said...

Oh shut the fuck up! You’re finding any reason to be racist! The police didn’t have a problem or the owners!

Kingfish said...

Um no it wasn't. What you wrote is a bunch of bs. No one gives a damn they were black but thanks for playing the race card.

This is disappointing - a party with loud music… Big Surprise! There is trash on the side of 55N frontage road that needs to be picked up since you need something to do.

Anonymous said...

Too bad the “amphitheater” at Livingston park isn’t finished yet would be a great venue for a party

Anonymous said...

So if this happened in a Black neighborhood, everyone would be fine with it?

Anonymous said...

I heard the music all the way up on County Line Road - can’t imagine what it was like being close to it. That group’s been trained to do anything they want, no matter who else suffers, then pull the race card if anyone objects.

Folks, it's called breach of the peace, and it is illegal. But at this point, Lumumba is playing to his base, so don't expect any help from the City of Jackson until John Horne is sworn in.

When Lumumba is out, there will be a few unemployed Internet trolls, if anyone is hiring.

"A person who wilfully disturbs the peace of any family or person by . . . or by loud or unusual noise, or by any tumultuous or offensive conduct, shall be punished by fine or imprisonment, or both; the fine not to exceed one hundred dollars, and the imprisonment not to exceed six months in the county jail."

Miss. Code Ann. § 97-35-9.

"Any person who disturbs the public peace, or the peace of others, by . . . loud, or . . . boisterous conduct or language, . . . shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment in the county jail not more than six (6) months"

JPD Chief Wade is just a puppet or figurehead for Hizzonor. If by chance the cops get their man, Chokeme takes credit. However, if the cops screw up, Wade takes the blame and is thrown under the bus by Chokeme. When first appointed Wade was full of piss and vinegar, promising to rid the streets of crime and make Jackson a safe and desirable place to live. Shortly thereafter he realized he was not going to be able to do anything about it, he started making excuses like “we can’t be everywhere” and “we need the public’s help”. Soon he will probably be replaced by another figurehead and his boss.

If I was still drinking and smoking, I might have gone over and joined in. The problem with Jackson is too many fights. Shit, we cheer when nobody gets shot.

Anonymous said...

5:10 pm: The issue isn’t anyone gathering and having a good time. The issue is noise that late into the night in a residential neighborhood. I would imagine a lot of people were trying to sleep. According to the city ordinance, there shouldn’t be noise above 55 decibels (the volume of a running refrigerator) after 10 pm. The hosts of the gathering were in the wrong. There is a reason large, loud parties are held at venues, out in the country, or end before 1:30 am. If the party had been considerate of noise in a neighborhood of homes, no one would be complaining today.

Anonymous said...

That area is actually quite diverse. I’m sure many families were unhappy.

Anonymous said...

Every CoJ official, politicians and mayoral staff that has their kid in JA needs to be forced to withdraw them and enroll in the shit show that is JPS.

Anonymous said...

This happens in Madison too. I was nearly arrest by a Madison Police because I want to know why all these cars were parked on both sides of the street even a fire truck could not get through if a fire started. People who have parties like this have more rights than other person. He'll even people holding the party own the road that the taxpayers fund. Its not just Jackson who do nothing about it.

Anonymous said...

As a nearby resident and party/event attendee, the event was indeed a celebration that was culturally diverse, well-planned, and put together impeccably. No one can deny this and it was also on private property.

JPD HAD NO ISSUE. Upon seeing that there had been proper notice, crowd control, and visible security in place, JPD bid ado and appreciated that a well-controlled celebration was taking place. Yes, the host happened to have great sound & speakers in place for the DJ and guests- so what?! If you live in an area surrounded by bars, restaurants, shops, a fire department, liquor stores and more - YOU MAY BE A IN FOR A PERIODIC CELEBRATORY EVENT!! Consider it a great location to live. Your property heightens.

Nonetheless, just because the music and the people are of color DOES NOT automatically spell trouble. THIS WAS A 30-35+ crowd!! REFRESHING IT WAS to be with older adults enjoying a beautifully themed occasion to enjoy and celebrate life! No one in Madison is griping about a street full of teens streaking and vomiting in the streets after their many wild graduation parties I noticed. That’s considered a great time in certain cultural standards. Ew…

If this was some daily nuisance that’s understandable, but as an attendee and resident of the area I was impressed, entertained, and happy that THE BAR WAS SET as it relates to PRIVATE outdoor events. With every negative there are 10000 positives when good intention (and results) are involved. Instead of being worried, scared, and pissed… count it all as Joy and figure out how you too can spend thousands of dollars to assure people are safe, entertained and positively impacted at an event for a mere few hours. A few hours of [organized] parking of cars, happy people, and hip hop music was your small sacrifice for others who were positively impacted in the city of Jxn …
Signed,
Impressed Guest ✨

PS: weed smell? The only thing I smelled was seafood and hibachi from the chefs stationed outside.

Not racist because manners ( showing respect for others) has no color🤪

Anonymous said...

May 5 at 7:07 a.m. - assuming everything you wrote is true, it is still illegal and incredibly rude to inflict that noise on a residential neighborhood. The fact that you cannot understand that is beyond my comprehension.

Anonymous said...

5/5 at 7:14: it appears that respect is not a black thing or at least its a very different thing in the black community because every time someone complains about noise, crime, street racing, the murder rate, assholes running red lights at top speed, cruelty to animals, etc., black people yell racism. They kill each other over perceived lack of respect. There's a pattern here.

Capitol Police is already short on patrol officers, ie less officers working each shift than what is budgeted for and needed. Sound familiar…? They didn’t hire enough new officers before or after the last expansion. They are already spread too thin, so what do you think happens when the jurisdiction gets even bigger? The original CCID area suffered when it was first enlarged, and it’s about to get worse if they don’t hire a bunch more officers. CAPD was initially successful in hiring away from other local agencies because the pay was so much higher, but surrounding agencies answered by raising their respective pay schedules. If you are a young, hard charging, proactive officer, working in Jackson for Capitol seems like a dream job, until you consider what happened to Anthony Fox. If CAPD doesn’t hire some more GOOD officers in the near future, the entire CCID will actually suffer from this expansion. JPD will stop showing up at all, just as soon as they can refer a call to Capitol. I thought the idea was for CAPD to supplement JPD’s jurisdiction, but JPD has all but abandoned the CCID. Has JPD response time and service improved in the areas outside of the CCID, with these areas taken off their plate? Are tax dollars funding JPD officers that are still assigned to CCID area beats? Where are these JPD officers now, and what are they doing? How many JPD officers are budgeted for P4 vs how many are on the working? Furthermore, we now have the AG going after CAPD officers who were acting in self defense as a hardened criminal tried to run them over. I’m not defending any previous transgressions by Rhinewalt or Fredericks, but it’s seems that, in this instance, they were just doing thier job, within the law, and trying to make it home at the end of the shift. Don’t forget that these officers literally put their lives on the line, especially working in Jackson. All things considered, many of them must ask themselves “is it worth it?”. I’m all for the expansion, if they have enough officers. Personally, I wish they would have approved authority over the entire city. I’ve already seen areas like Fondren slipping from the early days of the CCID. When the entire force was focused on a small area, progress was being made. But as the district expanded, officers had a new sandbox to play in with a lot more action, ie Washington Addition, Hwy 80, and Raymond Road. Certainly some of the issues come down to Leadership, and I think Bo Luckey has done a pretty good job. But surely this position is just a stepping stone for him. I imagine he has higher aspirations, either at DPS or somewhere in Rankin County. Who do we end up with when he moves on?

Anonymous said...

I can see the argument on both sides. My problem is the music. The bass reaches out for miles and even the most well-insulated home is no match for it. I honestly don't have a problem with people celebrating but when you force that noise into people's homes and there's absolutely no place in their homes that they can go to to get away from it, it's blatantly disrespectful. Even if you turn the TV up or plug your ears, you can still FEEL it. No one should have to leave their homes to get away from it. There's a line and people these days don't seem to have a problem with trampling over it. There is no empathy - just a "fuck you if you don't like it". It truly sucks.

I went to huge parties on Sheffield decades ago and live bands were not too expensive to hire for a backyard or street party. How did we raise such " sticks in the mud"?

The thumping music is not being played because they like it, they are playing it to bother other people. The drunker they get the louder they will talk and the louder they will turn up the thumping.

Here is a lesson: respect is earned. You are not born with it. Everyone should take a moment and reflect on this. Your thoughts will tell you a lot about who you are and how you perceive your impact on the world around you. Good news, you can change how others perceive you and earn their respect.

Anonymous said...

Drive down Sheffield in 3 months & count the number of For Sale signs that pop up.

Anonymous said...

So, when police refuse to respond, who DO you call? When one entity abrogates its duty, which entity is the next-level-up? Or, how does one phrase one's complaint, if noise is not considered actionable?

I had a friend in New Orleans' Marigny district, who learned to say there was "a body" underneath his house, because police would not come to collect, "some guy sleeping under my house".

This is a great moment, to share ideas on how to create the right sense of urgency, so that LEOs from one agency or another WILL respond.

The blacks who are calling the whites racists need to take a long hard look at the destructive nature of the music called rap. What good qualities has it brought to your race? Do some research and you’ll find out it was intended to do exactly that. Say I’m wrong? Did the black entertainers spew hate and violence in the 60’s and 70’s when the soul and R&B spoke of love? No! That’s music. Rap is not and it’s beat and vibrations along with the frequencies that are suggested to listen to it are damaging to human brains

Anonymous said...

Yep. That's the difference between Jackson and the surrounding communities. It isn't tolerated in the suburbs!

Anonymous said...

@4:39. The problem is that Capitol PD isn't what it once was when it started with the smaller, original area. They are short-staffed and are having a hard time covering the areas that were added Last July. You wouldn't know it looking from the outside, but I know officers there that say they are struggling to keep up with the expansions. The one thing that they have going for them is that they don't have to answer to local Jackson politicians.

Did Lumumba promote this party, just to poke whitey in the eye? It sounds like something he would do.

I notice some of the comments defending it have taken an attitude that anyone complaining would be subject to: "beat your ass in front your wife and kids" and "GET KNOCKED THE FUGG OUT!"

That is exactly why people object to such public behavior, because there are always those types somewhere in the crowd.

Anonymous said...

Yes, 11:14, perhaps the phrasing should have been, "when police refuse to STOP the lawbreaking". And maybe the question should be, "How does one make it TOO COSTLY for Law Enforcement to allow the lawbreaking to continue?"

Each of those do-nothing LEOs has a name. Supervisors have names. Chiefs and regulators and inspectors and evaluators have names.

The individuals behind the "lit" gathering have names. Their insurors have names, as to those who hold the notes on their homes and that Porsche and that Mercedes G. Those cars have TAGS, too.

Drones can capture images. AI can put names with those images, now. I bet AI and phone cloning/Google Dashboard, together, can document who was flirting with or pawing whom, for use during upcoming divorce proceedings. ...could even provide impetus to instigate PROFITABLE DIVORCE proceedings. The Contact Tracing techniques developed for enforcing the Scamdemic, await repurposing.

Who was with whom, at that "lit" gathering stinking of weed, may already be documented - awaiting some AI to make the most of it.

Just a few random thoughts...

May 4, 2025 at 5:10 PM Yep, this is how a city/community dies. I lived nearby and have chosen to move away from the chaos. When ANY group decides their personal entertainment is more important than the peace the neighboring areas deserve, then people who can do it are going to leave. If you have ever had ailing elderly parents or babies/young ones who can't sleep with blaring music nearby, you'd realize what a problem this is. A small crew creating a major disruption for the neighbors is NOT ok. The selfishness of this attitude is what destroys communities. What helps neighborhoods survive is everyone looking beyond their immediate pleasure to work together for the greater good. But these comments make it clear, Jackson is not capable of this - at least for now.

That was beautifully written, poetic even, and completely full of crap. I was there too and it was not as you described it at all. No one cares what kind of music it was. No one cares if it was young or old or black and white.

This was not in a commercially zoned area. This was not by a nightclub or event venue. This was IN THE DAMN NEIGHBORHOOD. The music was not loud. Loud doesn't begin to describe it. It was cranked up to foundation shaking level.

Of course there is the possibility you don't think it was loud because it blew out your hearing. Of course, while you were partying away, you didn't think of your neighbors, did you?

It looked nicer than anything in Jackson at the current time. What happened that caused such a breakdown? Welfare, rap music, fatherless homes, white flight??

11:10: Crack and crime

10:38 Yep, our differences in what is termed a "good time" is absolutely correct.

It may be far more complicated than your model, 10:20. First, there are local developer families, descended from Carpetbaggers and Gold Coast criminals, who own land, and develop planned communities, in Madison and Rankin Counties. It is in their interest, to destabilize Jackson, in order to force people to flee toward Rankin and Madison. This provides these developer dynasties with enough money to gatecrash local society, and for their children to invade good frats and sororities at Ole Miss.

More recently, there are GIANT, national-scale interests, building homes and "communities". Those helming such concerns, are not trying to gatecrash elite local organizations. They do NOT have children at Ole Miss. Ripping Jackson apart, is nothing to them. They have no conscience, and no emotional investment, at all, in Mississippi. Keeping homeowners on the run, is a tried-and-true way to force families to repeatedly move and purchase homes . Crooked, destructive city governments, are their DREAM TEAMS. It's SO cheap to buy local politicians and media - to remove constraints against criminality.

Gratuitous noise, is a form of criminality.

Too, consider competing NATIONS, who see the destruction of America's cities, as a way to further the primacy of their own cities (and the subjugation of the American People). Along with bribes and media manipulation, those furthering the interests of those competing nations, may be promising Jackson's functionaries, "Seats on the Ark" - special, preferred treatment, once the competing nation assumes control.

I know people from Communist nations, who describe the removal of constraints against criminality, and the placing of criminals in positions of power, as key steps in the implementation of totalitarianism. Profits for developers, by the way, fit neatly into the scheme, making the developers unwittingly complicit in the destruction of cities. It's a rewards system.

There's way more to this pattern of lawlessness, than simple thoughtlessness and irresponsibility.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
