A hoodlum beat and shot a Fondren woman as she was going to work yesterday.
The victim was getting into her car at her home on Council Circle when the thug ran up to her and tried to rob the woman. She honked the horn. He struck her head and shot her in the leg.
JPD appeared within five minutes. An ambulance carried the woman to the hospital.
A witness said he heard one gunshot just before 7:00 AM yesterday morning as he loaded his car. He saw someone jump into a black Nissan Sentra with tinted windows and drive away. The witness said the perp was a black male and provided some identifying information about the vehicle:

The previous owner sold in 7/2020 to get out of Jackson. There is a fire sale going on right now with huge price reductions.

I work for an insurance company (claims). I inspected a mans car in Fondren several years ago and it have been broken into and damaged in his driveway. Our system records prior claims so we can make sure there is not a double payment for the same damages. I noticed he had 4 prior break-ins/attempted thefts for this same vehicle in the last 2 years. I made a comment about this and his response was something like this...Yeah, I think the new Mayor (Chuckwee) will fix these issues. he understands the problems of the black residents and will get them what they need to get jobs and prosper. This should stop. I shook my head and thought...yeah DumbA$$ liberal wait until they leave your car alone and start coming in your house.

It is too risky for thugs to do this in Rankin County. Anyone remaining in Jackson who is perceived as “weak” and “rich” will be targeted until the resource is exhausted. In Hinds County Court, you will be indicted for defending yourself by a grand jury that is not sympathetic. It will only be seen as a white supremacy issue.

Inventory supply in Hinds County for week ending in April 29 was 1.27 months with 98.76% of list price received compared to Madison 0.75 months/ 98.05% and Rankin .72 / 99.61%....per Central MS Realtors data.
Fondren area near where this happened has about 10 pending sales as of today.
You can’t find a house for sale in Fondren under 250k.
Now there are quite a few at 750k and up to 1.9 mm which will never sell and haven’t for several years (think “castle”).
Almost zero % interest and all houses move it seems.
All this story does is reinforce existing hatred for people who live in Jackson.
This zip code is 39206 and 39216. Right now, houses are going for upwards of $200/sf.

Current price per square foot for a house in Fondren is $109 - highest it's been in my 20+ years of living in Fondren. Demand is high; I've had two realtors tell me they could sell my house (typical 3/2, 1800 sf) in a day. That's as mind boggling to you as it is to me. Yes, it's a really cool neighborhood, but the housing market is propped up by demand from UMMC and its medical/dental/nursing schools. The previous owner at the Council Circle house where the crime occurred had either a personal or financial issue because he wanted to sell it almost as soon as he bought it. Instead, he did pretty well renting it out as an Airbnb for a few years. Fondren and Belhaven are easier targets for criminals because fewer homes have attached garages and people are out in the open walking to their cars. Lumumba and JPD should get off their a**es and start protecting citizens before the entire property tax base is decimated.
There is not enough money in the world to risk the lives of my family by living in Jackson.
If you live in Fondren or Bellhaven and you ain’t packing a gat every time you walk out your door you’re a volunteer victim. Start shooting some of there predators.

@4:44, how is a news story from 2003 relevant? @3:34, in a recent car theft incident, the stolen car was tracked to South Jackson off of Terry Road, so no, I don't think the recent rash of crime has to do with these neighborhoods being closer to where criminals live.
39211 homes listed for sale- home Prices are being reduced at a staggering rate. If the home sells near “ list price” check the price history on Realtor.com .... good chance there have been multiple price reductions prior to the home actually selling. It has become Fire sell time in 39211.
39211 Home owners are done with the lack of basic services like water and sewer and a shrinking police force with no support from the city “leadership”
