Well, it will take a few days to install a "temporary" pump, but new meters will be on-line in a few hours.

Hollywood writers could not come up with shit as funny as The City of Jackson, MS ... Mayor, city council and the rest of these clowns.

And they will vote to keep Antard in office for another term.
Right ?

Ok KF, get to digging on this "sustainability partners" group.

Can't possibly be legitimate.

Not a word about minority set-asides or minority subcontractors - did the city actually learn & implement one of the main lessons from the Siemens debacle & not require that some of the work go to unqualified contractors?

An answer to the question. And, not surprising, probably the wrong answer because it is not addressing the right question.

The correct FIRST answer would be to remove the policy of no disconnects from people that aren't paying anything for their water, sewer, and garbage service. But the council doesn't want to address that problem - they want their new found ability to write off their 'constitutents' water bills so that only the favored few will be required to pay the required money to operate the system.

So far, 7:11 has the lead.

@7:11 PM

And Antard will continue to F*#@ up Jackson, right?

Kamstrup rules. Q (the city council’s favorite lobbyist) is this digity dank who is swaying the deal as Q is selling his relationship to the mayor to his buddies to get the deal. KF, you’re a little late to the game…go ask state officials about the official protest that was submitted. #doyourjob

The problem with Seimens meters wasn't the meters, it was with the billing system. Garbage in/Garbage out. There was a lot of corruption in the water dept and a bunch of employees were charged with embezzlement when people got to looking into the billing problems.
Face it, the Seimens System was sabotaged by crooked employees who didn't want to end their scam.

Asking for a friend said...

Is the problem with the meters?

Or is it with the accounting, billing, and collection processes?

The bodies, KF, don’t forget about the bodies piling up in Jackson.

Banks “these meters don’t all have those wires going everywhere”.....hahahahahaha, this is some funny sH@.t right there. This whole thing should be a history lesson required to be watched by colleges across the world....for comedy sake of course

Keep buying water meters and expect different results.

Sustainability Partners sure looks pretty damn white.

Only one of the two Siemen's water meters in my yard ever worked despite a repair effort.

That new ones are needed is indisputable. Unless and until they aren't put in properly or don't function, there is no rational excuse for complaint.

And, as to the murder rate, if you are well informed, you know that has increased everywhere and is still more common in areas with high poverty and low education. That hate and anger and lying are becoming acceptable in our society, that we equate material goods and money with success, that we no longer value education and knowledge and that we fail to teach our children how to control their emotions is a far more determinant explanation for why violence increases and problem solving is becoming nearly impossible.

Banks comments about the wires cracked me up. He said people were cutting them. Well, if that were the case and the receivers were working, wouldn't they have picked up a no signal? That would alert the system that the meter wasn't working and someone could come out and check the meter. According to reports, it wasn't the meters that were the problem. It was the receivers that weren't communicating with the meters. Banks says no wires but little antennas on the new meters. So....just unscrew the antenna. It's not like the city is checking meters when a signal isn't received anyway. I have two meters. One for my home. I receive a bill for that one. Right next to it is the pool and irrigation meter. I haven't seen a bill for that meter in 7 months. Riddle me that Batman.
One other thing. Banks noted it wasn't really costing anything to install new meters. Right.

This could cost him the election. Who the fark in Jackson wants a working water meter?

10:52, it’s all about who you don’t see on their website. The city will make sure the “locals” get their bite of the apple. That’s the sole reason of the EBO office.

and yet, the rest of the free world has done water billing for 100 years with no problems, many are 'gasp' Siemens systems. Why does it work everywhere else? Anybody ever wonder why, back when Jxn's water system did mostly work, they billed every 2 months instead of monthly like the rest of the free world? Wouldn't you prefer to have a consistent revenue stream?

Been there done that already said...

The meters won't cost the city anything to install?!

What could go wrong?

Do what?

Anyone who has been around and paid attention can recognize that when Jackson Mississippi is compared to many other cities Jackson is a special place!

And, as to the murder rate, if you are well informed, you know that has increased everywhere and is still more common in areas with high poverty and low education.

@10:57a This statement lacks the most "well informed" part of the problem. The DIFFERENCE in the high poverty, low education communities versus the lower poverty, higher educated communities is LAW ENFORCEMENT. And, I do not mean just the police doing their job (we all know JPD is in shambles), but also the District Attorney and courts doing THEIR jobs as well. When your high poverty, low education citizens have ZERO fear of consequences, crime is going to escalate more rapidly. Look at the leadership in the worst effected areas. They all share the commonality of liberal DAs, mayors, and judges.

You are correct however in your statement that it starts with (parents) "teaching our children." The family breakdown and lack of parenting in these high poverty, low education communities is the community's own fault. Grandparents should have NEVER started raising grandchildren and allowing the parents to continue to breed without consequence. My daughter works in education and 100% of the time the "family" is the issue when learning and behavior concerns are in play. Only this community can fix itself. Until they do, nothing will change.

As for the new water meters, I'll believe it when I see it! I'm sure this is a last-minute push by Drake to appeal to those few remaining Jackson citizens with any sense, because you know all his supporters who haven't been paying for water don't want these damn new meters! I do respect his game play though... the announcement, and following implementation, won't effect residents until AFTER the election (there's no way new water bills from new meters can go out that fast)... well played, crook! Well played!

@12:39p- My son lives in one of the most-populated cities in the country and his lights and water are billed every two months. And, unbelievably, he pays MUCH LESS than we do here... go figure!!

@10:52 AM - nope there are 4 obvious blacks out of 28 bios. 4/28 (14.28%) exceeds the ratio of blacks to whites slightly, as the US Census Bureau reports that 13.4% of Americans are black.

Take your race card elsewhere.

" Banks “these meters don’t all have those wires going everywhere”.....hahahahahaha, this is some funny sH@.t right there."

Indeed! It's very funny and very sad.

The sad part is that many voters in Jackson believe that nonsense.

Antard tells "the people" to report any water issues to his
(Department of Constituent Services). Some of these poor souls without water ... YET AGAIN ... believe his bullshit.

For the last few weeks all of those "constituents" were some of the first to allege (on all three local newscasts)... that 911 emergency calls aren't even being answered.

If true, do they really expect someone to answer calls to a
(Department of Constituent Services)?

As long as you keep giving water to folks who don't pay for it having better meters is irrelevant.

How many times have I told you Banks is really dumb?

Jackson will never figure it out. Do the math city is paying $5m per year forever on something they don't own. Over 20 years that is $100m. This should end well. City felt Siemens was too expensive so the solution is pay double. They really learn.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
