Hinds County Circuit Judge Tomie Green blessed more suspects yesterday as she postponed all criminal trials in her courtroom due to the Covid-19 outbreak at the Raymond Detention Center. The Senior Circuit Judge decreed:
Judge Green could have simply postponed all trials where the defendants are in custody at the Raymond Detention Center. Surely there are suspects free on bond in Hinds County who are assigned to her docket. However, Judge Green felt moved to bless all defendants in her courtroom. Truly a blessed day for justice in Hinds County.
The order does not apply to other Hinds County Circuit judges and none have entered similar orders - yet.

COVID outbreaks are playing havoc on all our (attorneys) trial schedules. All it takes is one exposure (by a party, attorney, or necessary court staff) that requires quarantining to cause it to be continued. Court staff have to be careful because one exposure in a courthouse can (and has) caused multiple judges and court staff to shut down for two weeks, which penalizes all the parties who were scheduled for that period to be delayed in getting a resolution.
Jury selection would be a nightmare with over 100 people crammed into her courtroom for qualification.
Sure wish Covid would end the world. Tired of cry babies.
You're a real bubba pandering jackass, to chalk up postponing trials when this sort of situation is at play to your redneck audience's passion to hear you speak ill of Judge Tomie. And I'm a Republican.
I'm not a fan of Tommie Green but I don't think she has a choice.
And, the obvious that others pointed out...exposing others at the courthouse ...is rational or is Delta a hoax too?
Justice would be better served if Tommie Green would continue herself forever. If she is putting off criminal trials that means that she will have fewer criminals to set free without any significant penalty. Go for it Judge
And I'm a Republican.
So what. Meaning NOTHING. Zilch.
