Congressman Benjamin Thompson withdrew his lawsuit against ex-El Presidente Donald Trump. Mr. Thompson's lawsuit claimed the former President violated the Ku Klux Klan Act:
In furtherance of this conspiracy, Defendants Trump and Giuliani engaged in a concerted campaign to misinform their supporters and the public, encouraging and promoting intimidation and violence in furtherance of their common plan to promote the re-election of Defendant Trump, even after the states had certified election results decisively showing he lost the election, and to disrupt the legally required process before Congress to supervise the counting of the Electoral College ballots and certify the results of that count. 137.
As a result, Defendant Trump acted beyond the outer perimeter of his official duties and therefore is susceptible to suit in his personal capacity
The Congressman filed a motion to dismiss with prejudice. in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. yesterday. The motion states:
On July 1, 2021, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives announced that the Honorable Bennie G. Thompson would serve as chair of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol (“Select Committee”). While Rep. Thompson continues to believe strongly in the merits of this case, he wishes to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest between his role on the Select Committee and his role as a Plaintiff in this litigation. He therefore dismisses his claim with prejudice against Defendants pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(a)(1)(A)(i). The other Plaintiffs, who are not members of the Select Committee, continue to pursue their claims.

I'm embarrassed that I live in this clown's district.
Me too. Only one asphalt-paved-Street away from a more prosperous district. Buffalo Bennie probably can’t even spell lawsuit.
You two ever go to any of the fish fries? I here they are legendary!
Why does Idiocracy (2016) seem to pop into my mind more often than not when I read an article about our national politics? I want to speak with Mike Judge to see if he will let me use that crystal ball of his...
Bennie been making himself and the state of Mississippi look stupid for too long now, he needs to go. People we have to vote out these old bitter people.
@4:27, not many "us folks" at the fish fry for votes.
Yeah, as long as he dismisses his lawsuit, there will be no appearance of bias.
Got it. Just like, "Members of the jury, you will disregard what you just heard....." And they always do.
Bennie has been in Congress since 1993. In all that time, he has two accomplishments for his District: collecting his paycheck and eating lunch.
Ya'll are so stupid and uniformed. Ever hear about the MS Catholic Diocese lawsuits against the ACA that local firms got paid millions for but were dismissed......? There are other examples that lobbyists whom comment here support. Diddn't think so, but Pacer is your friend if your trailer has satellite.
Bennie is a racist clown!
4:34 - You are a few years too late with that observation and a decade off from when the movie came out.
Benny is a stone cold idiot!
Bennie is about to expose Trump and the GQP and the majority here can only call him names. As far as making Mississippi look bad Tater does it every time he appears on TV. As from him pulling his suit, don’t worry the suit isn’t going away Swalwell has Trump, Trump Jr, Brooks and Rudy set to be served, if they hadn’t already. I still can’t believe no one from Mississippi has been charged.
Now he can be”neutral”
Yes he is a racist. And yes to the fact that he buys votes with catfish. And for a bonus he makes sure all is district depends on him for their monthly check. No reason to preach that you can make much more by working. No reason for Bennie then.
The Democrat bosses in San Francisco know that Bennie is the ultimate party attack dog. He is totally outside any accountability for his actions and can go after Trump whether it makes sense or not. He will not tire in his efforts to please those bosses and he has no shame. The ultimate.
Posts "lobbyists whom comment here" but mention a trailer with satellite.
Farkin' classic! JPS on parade.
We're all "stupider" for having read this. I actually feel sorry for Benny and his lack of cognificant ability that he has no idea he's lacking.
@6:23, sorry dude, but you're either drank the kool-aid, are stupid, or very uninformed-or a combination of two or more of the aforementioned. I hope for your eyes to be opened and your brain straightened out and your outlook cleared.
So here's my question. How can a politician elected in a majority poor rural area of Mississippi actually represent a rich urban San Francisco district? I mean Bennie was a good son who'd do anything for his mamma... And Nancy's not quite old enough to be his mamma... But he acts like he's Nancy's son and trying to please his mamma! And even Nancy treats him like her boy knowing he's gonna do what mamma says... So is it even legal for him to be a Nancy boy and ignore his own constituents? I mean didn't he swear an oath to represent Mississippi??
And that poor Nancy boy had to give up his lawsuit?
Bless his heart!
6:23 Please! Adults are having a conversation. Go back to the basement and play your games.
With the DOJ charge today, 3 Mississippians have been arrested for the Riot on Jan. 6.
He just played himself. These people want to heal.
Why are the Democrats so fixated on an ex-president. If this was a girlfriend/boyfriend breakup, they would for sure be the crazy ex. It's laughable, but almost worrisome how psychotic these people are.
Bennie has collected MORE than just his paycheck. Go look at pictures of him when he was on the Board of Supervisors compared to today. The dude is a walking bling machine.
At this point, if the Republicans had another viable candidate he would be unbeatable in 2024. With Trump as a lightening rod and Harris on the horizon they could win easily. Are they too stupid to see that? Let's hope not.

The Capitol police failed in keeping the protestors out of congress while they conducted business. So, in my mind they are 80% guilty. The protestors are 20% guilty. But, you know the ruling party needs to get political advantage by making the protesters 100% the guilty party.
Congress has seen violence before.
In 1835, Andrew Jackson was nearly assassinated emerging from the House chamber. The most famous antebellum incident was in 1856, when Preston Brooks (D-SC) beat Senator Charles Sumner (R-Mass) with a gold-headed walking cane, soaking the Senate floor in blood. Brooks was convicted of assault and fined but not jailed. In March 1954, four Puerto Rican nationalists entered the House visitor’s gallery armed with handguns, indiscriminately shot at Members and unfurled a Puerto Rican flag. They wounded five Congressmen, including Rep. Alvin Bentley (R-Mich) who took a bullet in the chest.
Does anyone know where to find an article on the Mississippians that have been charged in the capitol attack?
The Justice dept. data base only on this guy on the list, boy he got himself in some deep dodo. Michael Leon Brock, 54, of Walls, is charged with federal offenses that include assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers and obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder, among other charges.
Congressional term limits -- it's the only way to stop these perpetual, bi-partisan, tax dollar wasting antics in Washington. Imagine a collective of state representatives working for the common good of the people they represent, instead of spending all of their time and resources stabbing each other in the back for political and monetary gain.
From Anonymous: on January 20, 2017 Bennie Thompson along with the rest of the Congressional Black Caucus boycotted Donald Trump‘s inauguration. On December 17 of 2017, Bennie Thompson along with John Lewis and Mayor Antar Lumumba boycotted Donald Trump‘s dedication of our civil rights museum and history Museum… Again civil rights museum in Jackson Mississippi, boycotted by Bennie Thompson! Why is he allowed anywhere near anything to do with Donald Trump when he has expressed such
disdain- and that’s putting it mildly!
@9:34
They are not stabbing each other in the back. They are serving their masters instead of the people of their districts, states, or country.

He's a goodfella.
" Does anyone know where to find an article on the Mississippians that have been charged in the capitol attack? "
Attack ?
I agree with Clay Edwards, it was a mostly peaceful protest.
(Like the Portland,Oregon riots).
The January 6th folks didn't burn down acres of innocent businesses.
