Some Brandon punks made themselves prime candidates for some nightstick justice. This message appeared on Facebook yesterday:
They came from across the road (Hwy 471) across from Ambiance at Grants Ferry Just shot 2 (10 year olds) multiple times with a BB Gun, xxxx is ok! Her friend is ok! But they have huge welps and are upset.
Fortunately, Brandon police nabbed the little hoodlums. BDP issued the following statement.
On July 13, 2021, at around 3:30 PM, a Facebook post was made regarding two juvenile males on a 4-wheeler brandishing a BB pistol and shooting a juvenile female, then fleeing the Ambiance neighborhood of Brandon. A home surveillance camera caught a picture of the two juveniles on the 4-wheeler and it was included in the Facebook post.
At 3:50 PM the Brandon Police Department received its first 911 call regarding the matter. Multiple units were dispatched to the area to search for the two juveniles on the 4-wheeler and check on the juvenile that had been shot with the BB pistol. Responding units determined that the little girl who was shot with the BB had a minor injury that required no immediate medical attention. Both suspects have been identified and are currently in the custody of the Brandon Police Department. The 4-wheeler has also been located. Both suspects will be charged with Simple Assault/Bodily Injury and referred to the Rankin County Youth Court for prosecution. The Brandon Police Department does not publicly release the names of juvenile victims or suspects.
Due to the incident first being posted to Facebook and the police not being notified until twenty minutes afterward, our response time was slowed and the suspects were possibly warned that police were responding. We would ask the public to please call 911 or your local police department non-emergency line to report a crime, and not post evidence to social media until your local law enforcement agency has had an opportunity to see it first.

There are two sets of idiots in this equation... the punks on the ATV and the individual who posted on social media prior to calling the police. The photo of the punks on the ATV is from the monitor within the structure at the Ambiance entrance, which means the poster wasted valuable time gaining access to the security camera footage instead of dialing 911 or calling the non-emergency phone number for the Brandon Police Department.
Good job to BPD!
No blessings will be handed out to these 2 yutes and they will now be famous with the Brandon Police.
These kids have a great opportunity to learn a valuable lesson without being ruined for life. They now know what it is like to get in trouble with the police and get handled by the legal system. If they are smart they will learn their lesson and become good citizens. If not, they can only blame themselves for their problems. This could be a blessing.
Wonder what all are in those backpacks.
Beat the shit out of them and confiscate the 4wheeler.
Hopefully, they have attentive parents who will take this opportunity to apply the necessary punishment to make it a life-changing lesson -- before it's too late. ATV drive by shootings have too much in parallel with the gang-banger
activities of the Bold New City.
2:32 pm
Skittles.
Breakfast of Champions.
Thank you HUD for filling the subdivisions in Flowood with Section 8 residents. But also thank you to the scumbag out-of-state rental companies who outbid locals on foreclosures and ruin entire neighborhoods with Section 8 residents.
All parts of Brandon are awful. I’m warning all of my family members to stay out of Brandon. Run from Brandon with your lives, while you still can.
I see our taxed stimulus money is being used smartly. Have you noticed the growing number of "punks" riding these 4 wheeeler ILLEGALLY thru many neigborhoods within the city limits ! YOU HAVE TO HAVE a valid drivers ID to even ride these things. Sure do wish GOD would hurry and de-populate this rock.
Youth Court. Slap on the wrist, no fine and street cred.
They only had BB guns because they hadn’t yet found an unlocked F250 or Silverado with a M&P 9mm “Truck Gun” in the glovebox.
Just about everybody is carrying these days. These miscreants are fortunate they didn't aim their little pea shooter at one of them.
"systemic racism"
@2:47 these kids didn't come from HUD housing neighborhoods. There is a block of land between Grants Ferry and Luckney that has always been, how do it say it these days, an African American Community. Its's old school. No real reighborhoods, just houses and acreage. Nothing bad about it. Most of those guys are country boys and good people in general. I see them riding ATV's and horses all the time. These are just some bad apples and hopefully will get things straight after this incident.
A real concern as a parent: I see these guys aiming and shooting a gun at my daughter I aim and shoot my .45. It is an honest bad decision and I have to live with killing a child. Or I just hope its a BB gun and it turns out to be a .22 that is not very loud and kills by daughter. There are so many bad ways this turns out. These situations need to be handled swiftly and firmly. Take possession of the ATV. Do that enough times and they think twice.
What are things coming to in Rankin county? First the bar room brawl at Buffalo Wild Wings and now this!
@4:57
Thankfully you won’t get Derek Chauvin’d for ventilating BB gun wielding youths. Maybe you will though.
They are lucky their victims didn’t fire back with a 9mm.
Now those are some "thugs".
60% of these lil's idiots will meet their death when they slam into a Dollar General 18 Wheeler at the Woodrow Wilson intersection.
@5:56
I am sure that the point of shooting 10 year old girls. They weren’t very likely to return fire.
In a few years they will show the same lack of empathy for their victims when they have real guns.
It is cultural.
Social media "likes" and "forwards" and "shares" are obviously more important than calling 9-1-1, as is making videos.
Hopefully BPD will trace the VIN of the 4 wheeler
To see if the yutes owned it or it was stolen
They good kids but they just practicing for a real
Drive by shooting
Merely pointing what looks like a gun much less actually firing one at anyone, especially children and whether BB gun or firearm, in a neighborhood in the south is a great way to wind up in the hands of a medical examiner rather than the police. Being a young black male certainly increases the odds. These guys used up a fair number of their lifetime supply of breaks in one short afternoon. That it got posted to social media rather than them being shot multiple times before the cops were called ought to give these two a reason to seriously alter their conduct. I would say "thinking" but clearly none took place.
If their families gives a damn about them, it's well past time for some serious adjustments. Or start putting aside something today for the funerals as you may not have much more time. Your choice.
@4:57
The decision to use deadly force against a child to address an non-deadly threat is worse than bad. I know, I know, how were you to know it was merely a BB gun? How were you to know the little miscreant was only 12, 14, 16? Those would be jury questions. I would call it aggravated assault or murder, depending on your skill with your big bad .45.
Here's a question for you, what kind of person articulates thoughts about child murder? Is it any wonder that the lefties want to take away my .45? Here's another question: no fooling when was the last time you shot your big bad .45 at somebody who could shoot back?
One real advantage of a universal draft and a forever war is a socially acceptable vent for folks who want to kill children. Maybe Sleepy Joe will get us into a nice land war in Asia and you can sign up. I'm too old to go but I wish you very well indeed.
4:07PM, you obviously are not familiar with the Rankin County youth court. In Hinds County it would probably be a slap on the wrist or even less, but in Rankin County the punishment will be considerably more appropriate for the offense.
"But they have huge welps and are upset."
Figure out your own response.
So 6:04am is mad the Dad @4:57 with a legal gun wants to protect his daughter and therefore thinks Dad should go to war to satisfy his need to murder kids.
Oh, and Dad is the one in this scenario giving the Left reasons to force stricter gun laws?
But has no issue with the trespassers actively shooting a bb gun (because Dad should know its non lethal) at children?
What a time to be alive.
if punks like this ever shot one of my babies the punks mama’s wouldn’t have enough left to bury in a shoebox. Literal animals.
Well, the thought is of child murder but it is the thought of some thug murdering your own children in front of you.
They pull out a rifle and they are probably moving. The rifle is aimed at your child. You have a split second to decide whether that is truly a deadly weapon or not before it is fired. Of course, even a bb gun can cause injury if it hits a person in the right place. A Christmas Story wasn't wrong on that score.
No matter what, it is going to a grand jury. That is standard procedure. However, the grand jury probably is not going to return an indictment if its reasonable to assume the rifle was deadly.
Kingfish is 100% correct and this alleged crime is why I am always armed and put in my shooting range time every month.
The kids are idiots. I am also annoyed with all the parents that provide ATVs to unlicensed youth to ride at anytime. It is one thing if it is supervised on your land, but it is another to have them riding public streets. The parents of these knuckleheads need to pay a nice price for these kids' stupidity.
@ 6:04. You clearly can't understand what was being said. The father is faced with a terrible choice because of the two men appearing to shoot at his children. He clearly says killing a child would be terrible and is not wish that to happen. On the same token I will not hesitate to shoot if if feel my family is in danger because I'm scared I might offend some liberals looney. I think that's a difference between you and I. I will live with the mistake of killing someone who is wielding a gun of unknown ability before I pray over my dead child because I hesitated. The point is these kids dont understand the gravity of what they did. They think it's just a BB gun what's the harm.
Gee Kingfish, at 8:58, are grand jury presentments "standard procedure" if the circuit court does not have jurisdiction?
My recollection is that Youth Court has original jurisdiction where a juvenile is the accused, with some few exceptions -- and shooting BB guns at little girls would not be included.
I love your scenario, "they pull out a rifle . . . split second." Cool.
As a practical matter, I do not really care if you boil the little bastards in oil and sell their pieces on sticks at sporting events. Do not get me wrong, I hate young sociopaths, old sociopaths, all kinds of sociopaths. But me personally, I ain't shooting nobody with my .45, absent sure enough justification, and a pair of little shits on a four-wheeler with a BB gun doesn't make the cut. And I'm certainly not talking about it in advance.
With every kind regard, yr pal,
6:04 am
I am mildly surprised no one has referenced the increase in "stranger shootings" and "mass shootings," not to mention the increase in (legal) gun owners shooting active shooters within the ambit of (defensibly) authorized conduct.
This isn't 1949 or even 1999 - the likelihood of a young male from 14-20(and unfortunately, especially a young black male) foolishly waving around a Red Ryder versus aggressively firing an AR (or a BB pistol versus a Glock/SIG/S&W pistol) is significantly reduced in 2021 as compared to even 20 years ago. This wasn't a situation in which an obvious child was on foot and inconsiderately/"recklessly" playing with what was obviously a squirt or cap gun. This was two older teens/young adults mobile and shooting some sort of real weapon, with victims actually being hit by some sort of projectile and visibly reacting to being hit. To expect civilians to fully analyze the entire situation in the midst of the situation isn't reasonable, and "reasonable" is the standard.
I would suggest that even a baby lawyer with a wet-ink bar card would win his or her first criminal trial and acquittal with a client who used a real firearm *in the midst of the situation* under such a (general) set of facts. And that assumes such a trial would actually take place, which it almost certainly would not.
Why would the adult who defended his children go to youth court?
The adult wouldn't. Youth court has original jurisdiction where the accused is a juvenile. Point is, a BB gun attack ain't a felony, might not even be a crime. Good luck using a .45, or any deadly force, in defense thereof.
Back to a practical matter. You, Mr. Kingfish, talk about "rifle" and "split second" choices. Are you telling me you're close enough to engage a moving rifleman with your .45 and yet too far away to discern that the "rifle" is a BB gun.
My point sir, is simple, folks are entirely too quick to invoke use of their .45's, 9 m/m's, .38 Supers, which I think is one of the problems in the world today. When one of your posters reacts in terms of shooting these little scumbags, all I think about is somebody invoking "common sense gun control." I am opposed to any gun control. On the other hand, I think that 4-wheelers should have more stringent licensing requirements than cars, not less. I think their parents ought to be liable financially.
Should every Mississippian, white, black, Asian, native born or immigrant with a BMI of more than 29.9 go to a nice low-carb forced labor camp until they trim down.? I recall an Ole Miss biology professor who suggested once that everybody should have to take an IQ test on their 18th birthday with the bottom quartile promptly euthanized.
Some guys reach for their .45's, for public health and safety concerns. I reach for "common sense" solutions that are more likely to be dismissed as the fantasies they are by the Joe Biden crowd.
As long as the straw-man arguments, absurd hypotheticals, and cocksure declarations are being bandied about, if a drooling imbecile had used the cap-and-ball revolver their great-granddaddy brought home from the Civil War to shoot the Beaver off the handlebars of Larry Mondello's bike while they were riding around with the Beav's new Roy Rogers pot-metal cap gun, Ward and June would still be having a funeral for young Theodore.
But this wasn't Beaver and Larry, etc., or even Wally and Eddie Haskell pulling hair-brained pranks. It was two older guys on a large ATV shooting children with an actual weapon.
If these two idiots have families that care about them, one or more adults in those families need to start doing one of two things today: either preventing the inevitable funerals with some serious intervention, or, planning for the inevitable funerals. Counting on the self-control and situational awareness of self-proclaimed firearms experts to refrain from shooting your kin in such a situation isn't a viable option. If either family is of a religious nature, "miracle" is probably as good a term as any to explain why one or both aren't already planning a funeral.
