First National Bank of Jackson once offered a set of six special glasses as part of its 75th anniversary serving Jackson.
A Jackson landmark was etched on each glass: State Capitol building, Old Capitol Museum, Municipal Airport, First National Bank Building (Trustmark Building), Jackson City Hall, and the Coliseum.
So let's play a little game. If you were going to offer six such glasses today, what landmarks would you choose from the Jackson area? The fountain at Renaissance would probably be a good start. What are your suggestions?
Oh, don't bother with smartass or burbs v. Jackson answers. Those comments won't be approved. Suggest away.

I have that set of glasses in my office. I'll email you a picture of them Monday if you like. Thanks for posting that.

Convention Center, Braves Stadium, William Winter MDAH Building, Pinnacle Building, governors mansion, new 1906 Capitol building
The James Observatory on the Millsaps campus is an iconic Jackson landmark. It's located near the corner of West Street and Woodrow Wilson.
I found a blog that contains the Michael Baker Jackson/2039 report referenced on the Botton right (hat tip to "A Slice of Frank's Life"). We still have 18 years to get our house in order.

Loved reading the Baker report. Annual income of nearly $20,000 a year will provide for a vibrant economy. The Pearl river navigable from the Gulf to Jackson, lined with industry.
First, make sure that the Trustmark Bank building is NOT included.
One could get three landmarks from the next block east: the Lamar Life building (unbelievably excluded in 1964!), the Governor's Mansion and St. Andrew's Cathedral.
Keep the two Capitol buildings, and add the Alamo theater.
There are many other possibilities, but most are too recent to justify "landmark" status; for example, the Two Museums.
Six new ones:
1. The Mayflower
2. Memorial Stadium
3. The Standard Life Building
4. The 1940s Hawkins Field Terminal
5. The High Street National Guard Armory
6. The King Edward Hotel
More to come if requested.
This won't be published, but, Renaissance is nowhere near Jackson. But, I would suggest the old standards like Green Derby, Crechales, Calvary Baptist Church, Primos on State Street (the original), The original Fowler Buick, an old image of the State Fair lit up at night (if possible).
Malaco Records, the mayflower, Bailey, bebop records
@9:53, I would love to see a photo of your set. Do you know anyone with a set for sale?
The original Primos was across the street from the old Post Office on Capitol St. I know.........I worked there under Pop Primos in 1943.
1. The Elite restaurant
2. The Lamar restaurant
3. The Monkey Island Castle at the Zoo
4. The Sun & Sand motel
5. The old Greyhound Bus station.
6. The monument to Dutch pilots buried at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
@Macy Hanson I just emailed a picture to Kingfish, I'm a little late. Maybe he will post it. I've never seen another set, this one was my parents. They must have opened an account just before they were married.
