The Ridgeland Police Department issued the following statement.
On Saturday, July 8, 2023, around 11pm, officers with the Ridgeland Police Department observed a white Dodge Charger, displaying a stolen Texas license plate, in the parking lot of Homewood Suites. The Charger had previously been spotted canvassing the parking lots of closed businesses in the city.
Officers attempted to make contact with the Dodge Charger, at which point four occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Ridgeland Police Officers were able to take all subjects into custody at the scene. Numerous burglary tools were located in the vehicle. It was later discovered that the license plate and the Dodge Charger were each stolen from separate incidents in Harris County, Texas.
The following four subjects were placed in custody:
- Amaya Stanford, Age 21, of Houston, Texas (also wanted through Harris County, Texas for Robbery - Bodily Injury and Child Neglect)
- Jolanie Mayes, Age 22, of Katy, Texas
- Albeyro Cabezas, Age 20, of Katy, Texas
- Joe Rangel, Age 20, of Houston, Texas (also wanted through Montgomery County, Texas for Drug Offenses)
All were charged with numerous criminal offenses and are currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center as they await their initial appearance.
As always, Ridgeland Police Officers worked diligently to protect the citizens and businesses of Ridgeland. Those coming into the city with criminal intent will not be tolerated.

Well done by RPD.
Welcome to Mississippi, where you'll have plenty of time to reflect on your decision to leave Texas.
All are trash. Lock em up amd throw away the key. They'll never be better than they are now.
something tells me this isn’t the first time they have been arrested…
I see that they brought along a play thing for when they are not stealing.
Mayes looks like he knows he done messed up A-A-Ron
Had they driven West from Austin, TX, to CA instead, they could have enjoyed immunity by limiting each theft to just under $1,000.
Should have gone to Jackson if they wanted to rob. Suburbs don’t play
I still think at least part of this anti-social behavior can be linked to hair.
I think the burglary tools in the car was just a coincidence-
What kind of tools are considered burglary tools? I need to look through my tool box.
What's wrong with Mayes chin?
Found the great-grandpa @10:19!
There's better than a 99% chance they came through Jackson, with a layover, on their way to Ridgeland.
Congrats to the authorities for setting up a proper perimeter to net all the runners.
Tight Tight Tight!....
@11:25 AM He's crooked in more ways than one!!
How does one get this stupid in 20 years?
Our boys in blue in Ridgeland don't have to waterboard their suspects to make arrests.
We used to pass through Katy, on our way to The Antique Rose Emporium. Katy was a nice little place, full of nice people. Apparently, things have changed.
