Juvie Escapees Captured

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones tweeted:

The two remaining escaped juveniles, Jashon Jones and Tayshon Holmes from the Henley-Young-Patton Youth Detention Center are both in custody. They were arrested this afternoon by Capitol Police in Jackson. More charges are pending by Capitol Police.

Too bad they weren’t captured outside of Jackson

It would be nice if we could get a Capital Holding Facility. Just need to get the County out of holding detainees before someone else get killed when these inmates walk away!

"Thanks for fixing another one of our screw ups," Hinds Co, probably.

Glad those thugs are off the street. I hope they arrest those that have been hiding them.

Hinds SO did not capture any of them; not one, but Tyree is patting himself on the back. Oh wait, there is an election on the horizon, so any news is good news.

I guess social media would object to placing those three guys in leg irons and chaining them to a heavy bolt in the ground for a year or so to assure they don't get into any more trouble while in jail working on completing their sentence. Sadly, I was born a thousand years too late I would have made a great dungeon master.

How many people who helped them escape and hid them have been arrested?

I wonder if the DA Jody Owens will talk to them about their rights to vote.

They really should make Bo Luckey the Sheriff and the police chief over Capitol Police & JPD. He’s the only competent law enforcement administrator in Hinds County.

The real issue here is our justice system. These are not adults they’re juveniles and to treat them as grown men isn’t the solution. Let’s work to reform them not sentence them

Golly Gee whiz, That's a great idea!

Perhaps a few Fondren business owners can hire these young men
to provide valet service or bus tables.

Are these the ones whose moms were interviewed complaining about the detention center's safety?

Great idea. They could make great child-care workers, UPS drivers, gunsmiths, or even bank tellers.

Proof that LEOs don't need more training, they always find a way to preserve the lives of the most dangerous.

Routine traffic stop = Swiss cheese time.

The good Sheriff prob first tweeted a reminder of what all his department is not responsible for. One of Governor Tater’s most impactful legacies will be what he did with Capitol Police. I don’t even see JPD cruisers any more.

They are 16, 17, and 18, and they committed grown men crimes. We can talk about children when 10 year olds start killing and carjacking.

Anonymous said...

They may be juveniles, but they are committing grownup crimes. That word crimes had an s, as in multiple crimes, not a one-off.

It is believed that 2 of these juveniles committed an armed carjacking while escaped. I believe in rehabilitation as strongly as anyone, but these juveniles are showing a strong pattern of criminality.

July 6, 2023 at 9:26 PM - The real issue is unsupervised minors doing adult crimes. If you do the crime, you do the time. Adding age as a variable would be -- wait for it -- discriminatory!

Anonymous said...

The Democrats want to lower the voting age. Will they also support lowering the age for treating juveniles as adults?

The justice system is a huge issue but it is not “the real” issue. The real issue is a cultural cancer and it has metastasized. The offenders are getting younger and more violent, and it’s everywhere. I wonder how many of these juvenile criminals are even enrolled in school. Whatever truancy efforts school districts have to make are as productive as bailing the water out of a sinking ship with a 4 oz. paper cup. We can talk about how all this starts in the home, the need for parents, churches, and community to set good examples, provide midnight basketball leagues, and instill proper morals and values in children; and we’ll be wasting good oxygen. That’s been the driving sentiment for years and it has failed. It’s become generationally entrenched and nearly insoluble in the affected demographic. We’d be better off putting schools under the Department of Defense and turning them into boarding boot camps run by drill sargeants who put up with zero noncompliance. I’m sure they could find a way to schedule some reading, writing, and arithmetic.

For their violent crimes, tax payers should only have to fork over about 50 cents for each of them.

Long time ago, I believed there was reform and rehabilitation. Those are the concepts a young, idealistic boy-becoming-a-man believes. But that airy fairy dust only lasted so long until the reality of recidivism became apparent. Yes, there’s reform and rehabilitation for a very few, but it’s not worth the return on the investment. The time has come to either live with crime or cull the herd. What course will this “exceptional” country choose?

Anonymous said...

The herd around here does a pretty good job of culling itself.

9:26 - no they’re adults. Just like our ancestors were married and farming at 15, the magical age of 18 was established for political reasons. And for reforming them, no also. The reforming institutes are schools, churches and workplaces. Jails, prisons and detention centers are for the benefit of law abiding citizens - to protect them from those that are a danger. RIP liberal ideology.

To be clear, while Tyree isn't responsible for the building or staff, he is absolutely responsible for the juveniles charged as adults.

7:15 they are not grown men, they are young fools that have no civil or home upbringing. Get with the DA Jody Owens so he can talk to them about their right to vote!

7:15 until these young men decide to act appropriate, a long prison sentence will assist in this process!

All of the supervisor of Hinds County need to go home and never come back. A new jail needs to be built correctly and up deputies salary. The jail is not fit for an animal or less than a human being. The supervisors act like it's their money. Build a new jail to keep these THUGS OFF THE STREET. THATS THE BOTTOM LINE MY FRIENDS.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
