Deputies Save Children

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.

On Thursday, July 7 a deputy with the Rankin County Interstate Interdiction unit was on a traffic stop on Interstate 20. The deputy observed a vehicle behind him lose control, rolling over multiple times and coming to rest on its side in the median. The deputy immediately responded to the accident followed by other members of the interdiction unit. Multiple citizens stopped to help as well, helping to put out a fire that had formed around the engine. Deputies discovered there were children in the car and immediately began removing them and the other passengers from the vehicle. All occupants were alert and responsive. The children were all transported to a local hospital for precautionary measures.

Coincidental or was the car swerving and rolling in response to the LEO unit stopped roadside?

Kudos to Rankin County.

But if you think we're going to forget about Jenkins, you're crazy.

Thank you to our Rankin County deputies & to the citizens who stopped to assist.

What did I miss? How did the deputies 'save the children'?

Hold on! Rankin? Is Bailey still doing press releases?

The sheriff is trying to redeem himself with all of the recent well deserved bad press.

Happy ending and great news. I’m normally not a fan of Rankin in general (not because it’s an otherwise bad place, but because of the animosity towards Jackson), but this is a story we can all be glad about. Thanks for sharing. Wish we could have more stories like this on here.

Convenient. Let’s see the dash cam Mr. Soon to be ex-sheriff.

Hope we done with the press conferences! Just fire who recommended that and do a press release and that includes the 12 year old with Bailey.

I have no doubt that the sheriff is closely monitoring field activity looking for material for positive press releases. Too little, too late. Resign you loser.

"Is Bailey still doing press releases?"

Nah, he's only grasping at straws for his next election.

As usual, law enforcement in Rankin county flexing their egotistical muscles, but luckily children were not killed. I assume these Rankin cops congregated like deer hunters boasting about kills or captures. No wonder you never see Madison county plates anywhere in Rankin county except to and from the Medgar Evers Air Port. But, on the other hand, you can buy a CHEAP house there, because “who wants to live there.”

Sometime you have to know when to let the power go.

Sounds like a lot of folks on here posting sour grapes. Lots of jealousy that Rankin is still safe and prosperous vs Hinds (no explanation necessary and Madison (getting squeezed from the north and south.) Take a look and see if land prices are highest in Hinds, Madison or Rankin. You might be surprised.

&:30 There are many nice homes that are not cheap in Rankin County . Be nice

That's wrong 8:30. Ride by any restaurant or shopping venue in Rankin and you will see a running ton of Madison tags.

When I read the comments every morning in this blog y’all make me smile! I try to see the good in some things. Thanks to the responders doing their jobs!

Have a great day!

Those deputies didn’t save anyone.

After the rollover, everyone was secure. All the cops did was show up, direct traffic and assist with the removal of passengers.

EMTs and paramedics showed up and did the work.

Give me a break.

Fortunately they didn't waterboard those kids.

I know one of the responding deputies: he has been lauded for his effective and professional performance several times before. Maybe Jackson can emulate Rankin's prompt police response if HB1020 is implemented. Rankin can only get even better after removing the few belligerent LEOs that have tainted their reputation.

More feel good cover-up vibes for RCSD in 5…4…3

So Madison is not considered "safe and prosperous"? I'll make a note of that, and the unknown blowhard source of that info.

Anonymous said...

Like I said, the sheriff is trying to create some positive press after all of the water-boarding, gunshot to the face, and etc.

It's time for new management.

Can you read? The deputy SAW the wreck. He called for fie and medical. He pulled them from the vehicle.

Sheriff Bailey's motive for this type of news statement is pretty transparent. He must think we all just feel off the turnip truck.

Kinda' like the Lacy Underall quote from Caddyshack:

Danny Noonan : I planned to go to law school after I graduated, but it looks like my folks won't have enough money to put me through college.

Judge Smails : Well, the world needs ditch diggers, too.

Lacey Underall : [to Danny] Nice try.

Breaking News!

Sheriff Bailey: "One of my deputies helped a little old lady across the street and didn't waterboard her."

Deputies Save Turtle

Late Friday evening 2 RCSO deputies from the Interdiction unit noticed a turtle attempting to cross two lanes during high volume of traffic on I 20. Thru quick action the deputies stopped traffic, picked up the turtle and placed him on the side of the road, saving him/her from being squashed like a pancake.

Didn't you read it? They saved the children by not handcuffing them and shooting them in the mouth.

Kingfish is the one who used the word 'saves', not Bailey. It's known as a 'bait word' in the media world.

You're right. LOTS of Madison people prefer to shop in Rankin County, because the music in stores, is from the current millennium (in Madison County, it ranges between 60s Bubblegum, and Slim Whitman singing 'Una Paloma Blanca'. It's like a wormhole has transported you to a trailerpark in 1972).

Plus, if you want to get your cell phone replaced (or anything else involving customer service), in Rankin, it's instant and effortless. In Madison or Hinds Counties, the experience is indescribable - and not in a good way.

I think the recent events by some Rankin LEO is disgusting and hope they all go to prison.

I also think its a nice place to live. But I feel no need to convince anyone else to move here.

Feel free to avoid it.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
