Footage from 4:30 PM, an hour and a half after the parade ended, shows the state of the streets not orderly https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AESGYK3Yh/
I suspect it was just some Rankin Co redneck's idea of a prank.
Likely a prank caller among the Jackson haters thought making a false report would be funny. Being a low class jerk is in fashion these days.
Why is JPD calling the Capitol Police to handle issues right next to JPD Headquarters ? JPD is located at the corner of Pascagoula and West and right across the street from Thalia Mara Hall. Can JPD not respond to calls for help right in front of JPD Headquarters ??? All they had to do was walk out the front door onto Pascagoula Street, and they would be right where the calls were for. Good Lord.
It was Chokwe and friends “popping bottles” of champagne after returning from Detroit after grifting them with tales of white-hooded Mississippi governors and other fictional adventures.
I visited the 911 dispatch unit for Jackson and they informed me that any calls they get from people in the capitol police jurisdiction get transferred to capitol police. I am unsure why Jackson PD thinks they are off the hook for areas covered by capitol police.
Project enough?
"Chief Wade said over 88,000 man hours were spent on the parade."
JPD was already plum wore out before this call came in!
JPD is an embarrassment. If this was still their primary jurisdiction, they would've likely not even responded. At least Capitol made multiple efforts to locate the subjects.
10:15, The only answer that I can come up with is Lumumba either gets his way, or he refuses to participate, like a bratty child taking his ball and going home.
He didn't want the Capital Police in Jackson, but he couldn't stop it, so he took away the city police services in the area covered by the Capital Police, like an overgrown brat who didn't get his way.
The real question, to me, is why haven't the grown-ups called this out in a very public way. In the city with the highest per-capita homicide rate in the country, this should be a scandal.
One again, good work KF.
Steve, please don't feed the troll.
@11:03 isn’t a rankin redneck currently in jail for murdering people at last year’s parade?
Did they get the location mixed up with Nakatomi Plaza?
JPD no longer has primary jurisdiction in the CCID, and hasn't since July of last year. This is well-established state law.
4:08, yeah, but I don't think that means JPD if off the hook:
"The jurisdiction of the Department of Public Safety granted under this subsection (6) shall be concurrent with the jurisdiction of the City of Jackson, Mississippi, and that of Hinds County, Mississippi within the boundaries of the Capitol Complex Improvement District"
Miss. Code Ann. § 45-1-19(6).
Eight people were shot that day yet you think it's unlikely that teens were seen carrying guns in front of Thalia Mara? Seriously?
Being a murderer seems to be really "in fashion" these days too?
Why did it take almost 7 minutes to dispatch officers for the second call reporting guns?
