Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On Saturday, December 30, 2023, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Muse Road near Hwy 49 just south of Florence for a reported drive-by shooting.
Deputies and investigators worked diligently to process the scene and quickly identified Vicente Junior Rodriguez as a suspect. After issuing a B.O.L.O. to nearby agencies, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department was able to locate and detain the suspect. During a subsequent interview with the suspect, investigators learned that a motive for the shooting had been jealousy related to an ex-girlfriend.

As investigators continued pursuing leads in the
case, they discovered that Alan Jacob Edward Welch had driven the
vehicle used in the shooting.
Both suspects were arrested on multiple charges
related to the shooting then later indicted after the case was presented
to a Rankin County Grand Jury.
Vicente Rodriguez pled guilty in Rankin County
Circuit Court to Drive-By Shooting & Possession of a Firearm by
Convicted Felon. Rodriguez was already out on parole through the MS
Dept. of Corrections for Burglary at the time these new
crimes were committed. He has been sentenced to an additional 10-year
and 5-year consecutive sentence which will both run consecutive to the
remainder of his current sentence.
Alan Welch pled guilty in Rankin County Circuit Court to Accessory after the Fact to Drive-By Shooting. Welch was sentenced to serve 5 years in the custody of the MS Dept. of Corrections.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and the Rankin County District Attorney’s Office are committed to vehemently and lawfully investigating and prosecuting suspects that threaten the safety of citizens.

Both have neck tattoos. Not good.
I have never seen anyone with neck tattoos who was not a criminal, usually violent. If I answer my door and it is someone with neck tattoos, well, fill in the blanks.
