Victim was paralyzed.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced that Kristopher BoClair has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of his father, Kenneth BoClair. On the morning of November 30, 2022, Jackson Police responded to 315 Riser Street after receiving a call from the defendant’s mother, Lataunya Wallace, who reported that her son confessed to killing his father. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 58-year-old Kenneth BoClair—who was paralyzed and bedridden—lying in bed with knives lodged in his neck and eye. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Kristopher BoClair later turned himself in at the Byram Police Department and was taken into custody.BoClair entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 40 years, with 15 years suspended. He will serve 25 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by three years of post-release supervision. “This case is a heartbreaking reminder of the silent battles happening behind closed doors,” said District Attorney Owens. “Far too many families in our community are grappling with untreated mental illness and unresolved domestic abuse. We cannot ignore these issues—we must confront them head-on, provide access to care, and intervene before pain turns into tragedy.”

Mercy killing?
I remember that guy. We were on the Group "W" bench together.
Funny how when a criminal gets a good conviction, Jody sends out a press release for credit, but when his office fails to properly prosecute and that criminal is not sentenced adequately as a result then it’s the Judge who’s the problem
I don't consider this a good conviction. He should be executed. This bastard stabbed his bedridden father in the f--g eye!
At least he didn’t litter
Plea bargain? The guy admits he slaughtered his bed-ridden father. Why cut a deal for 2nd degree murder and the distinct probability that this guy will be out in a few years? Is this piss-poor prosecution or are there other factors?
maybe he and the d.a. can be roomies?
@3:50 2nd degree is day for day—and the record shows the confession was suppressed. Y’all love to bitch on here. Meanwhile a body was found in ridgeland 🙃
