Apparently a high school track athlete saw Rollerball a few too many times.
High school track runner gets attacked with a baton in the middle of a relay at the VSHL Class 3 State Indoor Championships. Kaelen Tucker was on the second leg of the 4x200m relay at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, when she got smacked in the head. Tucker suffered a concussion and a potential skull fracture. "When we got to the curve she kept bumping me in my arm and when we got off the curve I finally passed her and that was when she hit me with the baton," Tucker said. The girl's mother said neither the runner nor the coach apologized for the incident.
It's unclear if Trucker will file charges.
The judges immediately disqualified the team. The unidentified offender competed for IC Norcom High School. Tucker ran for Brookville High School. Tucker had already set a meet record in the 55m dash earlier. WSET reported the school and parent apologized for the offending student.
VSHL said it is investigating the incident.

In Mississippi I believe that would be aggravated assault.
A prime example of no control over one's emotions.
Scholars at play.
A little lesson from taking opponents out in ice skating????
I can’t read a headline anymore without thinking about Saturday Night Live Mid- Day News skit.
Lawsuit drafted and ready to file this morning.
A quick check of relay baton weights reveal one comes to about 2.3 ounces. Skull fracture seems a bit severe, concussion too! Animosity, culture, and poor sportsmanship are on display, nothing else. We don't have long….
What a little b*tch. Ban her from sporting events and she should pay for any medical expenses incurred.
Girl who hit the runner now says she didn't mean to hit her. Um. Watch that video, yea, I didn't mean to wind up and continually hit someone. good grief. The girl who was hit/family have a protective order now.
A 2.3 Oz aluminum baton is a weapon. The culprit's mother, before even seeing the video, said her daughter was innocent and would never do anything like that. Therein lies the blame. Parenting!!
UPDATE!
Baton Basher speaks!
"Everett said there is more to the video clip than meets the eye. "“Everybody has feelings, so you’re physically hurt, but you’re not thinking of my mental,” Everett said.""

""After a couple times of hitting her, my baton got stuck behind her back like this, and it rolled up her back. I lost my balance when I pumped my arms again. She got hit,” Everett said.
Everett said the incident was accidental."
