Jushun "Red" Paige is back in jail after the Capitol Police arrested him on June 29 for auto burglary. Paige was involved in the brutal murder of Chelsae Kirschten in 2017.
The police affidavit states:
CCID Court Judge James Holland denied Paige bond. Paige pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery in the Kirschten case in 2020. Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels will hold a preliminary hearing for Paige Tuesday at 11.
Attorney Alton Peterson represents Paige.
Paige pleaded guilty to carjacking in 2016. Judge Melvin Priester, Sr. sentenced him to serve 10 years in prison but suspended 7 years of the sentence. Since carjacking is a "50% crime", Paige was free in time to participate in Chelsae Kirschten's murder.
Kingfish note: 23 year-old Chelsie Kirschten was brutally gunned down at the intersection of Fortification and North State Streets on August 17, 2017. JPD arrested Nicholas Coats, Lidarious Dixon, and Jushun Paige for Kirschten's murder and trying to rob the passenger in her car. JPD reported:
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the victim and a front seat passenger were stationary at the intersection of Fortification St. near State St. waiting for the traffic signal to change, when an unidentified black male subject approached the vehicle from the driver side armed with a silver handgun. The suspect, wearing dark colored clothing, fired a single gunshot through the front driver side window of the vehicle striking the victim (in the upper back) and he fled on foot. The vehicle continued to travel eastbound on Fortification St. and came to a final rest near the interstate. The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
The grand jury indicted Coats, Lidarius Dixon, and Jushun Paige for capital murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Coats admitted to driving the other suspects to the scene of the murder. Coats pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on December 6, 2018. Circuit Judge Jeff Weill sentenced that poor schmuck to serve forty years in prison but suspended ten years of the sentence. Schmuck because his compadres in crime are undoubtedly laughing at him right now as they enjoy their good fortune at the hands of the Hinds County criminal justice system.
A jury found Dixon not guilty of Capital Murder at his August 2019 trial although it convicted him of conspiracy to commit attempted armed robbery of the passenger in Kirschten's car. Judge Adrienne Wooten sentenced him to serve five years in prison but gave him credit for time served (two years in jail). Dixon was paroled in January 2020.
The acquittal of Dixon threw a monkey wrench into the prosecution's plans as he was the accused shooter. It didn't help that Coats identified Dixon as the shooter while Dixon identified Paige. Thus, prosecutors remanded the capital murder indictment against Paige.
In other words, all the defendants pointed their fingers at each other when it came to answering the question of who shot Chelsae. Since District Attorney Robert Schuler Smith did not indict them under the felony rule, no one was convicted of murder (Jody Owens started using the felony murder rule when he assumed office. JPD and the DA and the judges failed my family. Not only my family, they continue to fail others. Blood is on their hands and one day they’ll have to answer to God which is more than our justice system can ever inflict.
At this point a GoFundMe is needed for the Equalizer to prosecute this slime.

There is no statute of limitations for murder. Owens could have done something. McCullough could do something. Reality is that the Jackson mob doesn’t care about this case. Watch the Nolan Wells case on the coast, not a whiff of homicide (at this point) yet they scream for blood. Female bystander catches a bullet, must be her fault. Racism is real and it exists on both sides of the street.
As I've said before, if 'Demon' or 'Shun' are in a name, consider yourself warned.
But how does the 'Shun' thing work? If the "dad" already has a restraining order against him, do you take the "dad"'s name, and add 'Shun' to it? So, if Larry was a genetic contributor to the production of a boy baby, but beat the Egg Donor or something, and she's got a restraining order against him, would the kid be named 'Larryshun'? ...'Larshun'? ...'Lashun'?
There's gotta be a system, here. Someone, please enlighten me!

She was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Her friend summoned her to come get her from George Street Tavern, being the true friend she was to everyone, she showed up, and it cost her life. After the fired shot, she floored it, realizing she had been shot, she died on the side of the road. We're just thankful she wasn't alone. She was recently hired at Tico's, enrolled at Holmes, her life starting and ahead of her. But not one person cared in her case enough to ensure her life mattered enough for justice to be served. These judges and prosecutors have far too much immunity and should be held accountable for their complacency. And our family isn't the only one denied justice. It's absolutely maddening! Almost in every case I see, the perpetrators have prior/pending charges and in logical sense, no business being out on the streets. Families should have an avenue to seek litigation against those involved in the justice system perhaps in hope the laws will change but being a realist, I do not see this happening.

July 16, 2026 at 9:44 AM; my guess, the motive is he is a piece of shit garbage feral savage that shot a girl cause she wouldn't give up her car or possessions fast enough. he should be set on fire. same for the judges that give out ridiculous suspended and time-served sentences.
Sad to say, many times there is no real motive.
Man, that was such a sad case. I didn't realize that this POS had been granted a blessing by "Judge" Wooten. Hinds County Circuit Court...the gift that keeps on giving...for the criminals.

Wooten is terrible. However, she is not to blame for the prosecutors decisions. A Hinds County jury is not going to give life to a young black man for killing a white woman. Remember O.J.? Except you have a jury pool that makes the OJ jury look like a diverse group. Black jurors convict at lower rates, this is an observable fact in the criminal justice system. Same reason Stan Alexander could never get elected, the community does not respond to lock them up and throw away the key

It didn't help her friend in the car wouldn't cooperate with the police at all.
