The law is cracking down on the La Cazuela restaurant on Fortification Street.
The Mexican restaurant has garnered quite a bit of unwanted attention when videos showing brawls at the establishment appeared on social media over the last few days.
La Cazuela has a rather sizable outdoor patio. A DJ has been cranking it up on Wednesday nights, much to the annoyance of the neighbors as they are forced to listen to loud "ghetto-blasting" music all night long.
A couple filed a noise complaint against the restaurant and its owner, Luz Garcia. Jackson Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey Reynolds heard the case yesterday and found Garcia and her restaurant guilty of violating Jackson's noise ordinance.
Jackson's noise ordinance bans using amplification devices after 6:30 PM within 100 feet of a home. La Cazuela is near quite a few homes. Judge Reynolds tried the case and ruled:
* Garcia must pay a $250 fine
* The Court sentenced her to serve 30 days in jail but suspended the sentence.
* The restaurant must cease and desist from playing music outdoors on Wednesday nights.
* If the defendant appeals, she must pay a cost bond of $2,500 and an appearance bond of $1,000.

In "our" neighborhood.....AGAIN.
It’s a shame we have to legislate common sense and civility
They need to close it down before someone gets killed
I was told a few months ago that the Jackson noise ordinance was unenforceable. Has that changed? What hasn't changed, clearly, is that law enforcement in Jackson will never enforce a noise complaint.
"Rasslers Bar & Grill" should be a theme club for female water buffaloes looking to spend the evening pouncing and bouncing on one another, losing wigs, weaves claws and lashes. A recessed wrestling mat could be at the center, surrounded by boxing ropes and a gallery of tables and chairs, plus several wall mounted monster TV screens showing live action on the floor.
Does this mean the M-Bar is next?
Krusatyr’s got a great idea. Now that roller derby is no longer using the convention center in Jackson, schedule team wrestling matches there. With signs stapled to light poles all over town proclaiming, “Cage Match! Hippos vs. Water Buffalos!” it would have to sell out.
@10:16 AM Is M-Bar within 100 feet of a house?
They are and have been in violation of Jackson’s smoking ordinance for years. When you allow a business to constantly break your rules, then this is what you get…
I hope so
