Don't let it be said UMC health care professionals are not trying to make things work as they suffer from a ransomware attack. Heather Wilson posted on Facebook:
Cyber Attack Apocalypse: Day 2.All systems down. No phones. No internet. No wifi. No medical record system.Today we put together over 500 binders for patient charts — by hand.I’ve been at UMMC for six and a half years. In that time we’ve navigated COVID, a major ice storm, and now a ransomware attack. When systems fail, our people don’t.Proud of this place. Proud of these people!!
Good job.

Good job, UMMC! I have several friends who work there and they have reported much of the same praise...their folks are stepping up! Thank you to all of you!
That's awesome! Good job, UMMC!
Uh thanks for doing your job that you are highly paid to perform…. I guess?
Are they going to fire the person that clicked on the bad attachment in their email?
I'm old enough to remember when we used pens and paper on a daily basis. Don't remember having to many issues with that.
I’m pretty sure if you review the State Employee’s handbook you will not find anything regarding cyber training failures in the list of offenses worth of termination. So nobody will be fired.
Does it take long to get a hospital systems worth of rented photocopiers delivered and operational? Their existing printers and scanners are currently off line.
Who says they are even an employee? Lots of contracted positions probably.
LOL
How do you think the current crop of under 40s would do with following ALL of the procedures ALL of the time that are necessary to properly operate UMMC and maintain patient records with a paper system? If you are old enough to know, then you know.
February 23, 2026 at 12:27 PM - I'm sorry no one ever thanks you for the good job you do.
@1:34: fixing the sh!t you allowed to turn to sh!t is good but at the end of the day you still allowed the sh!t to happen. Now we are all paying the price for it. Showing up late don’t mean you showed up on time
Is the cyber security team worth $10,000,000.00? Why are we protecting the overpaid bloated administrators at UMMC (Unable to Maintain Minimum Cybersecurity) This is about Glenn Boyce being given a high paid job and as soon as he came on board he made sure to extend a contract to Dr. Lou Ann $$$ paying her back. Y'all deserve every bit of criticism 100% yall's fault.
If you hire the right people, tell them what needs to be done and let them do the job correctly while paying them a fair compensation you don't need to say ...ahhhh UMMC.
Never mind!
I'm very proud of UMMC. I will not sit here and write shitty remarks as others have about this unfortunate ordeal. I am thankful for the hardworking staff there and implore the administration to stop making stupid-ass, political decisions while at the same time flushing all of the institutional knowledge the organization needs right down the toilet.
"Uh thanks for doing your job that you are highly paid to perform…. I guess?"
Are you paid to just patrol the Internet and be a d*ck all day?
Most over-40 folks quietly maintain some paper backup if they CARE about material, individuals, projects, data, they are handling. If one cannot access basic info (not elaborate calculations but simple stuff like names & contact #s) you really don't belong in an office. You probably don't even belong in your own bank account or phone. Electronics are necessary & magical. But If you can't call the people you purport to serve -because there's no computer to tell you who/where they are - without your 'system' you THEY are pretty well screwed. Anyone who suffers a 'upgrade' or an 'outage' or a 'reset' or this disaster has learned this already. Plenty of little notepads will be snuck into UMMC and perhaps some pencils as well - for next time.
