State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.
Today State Auditor Shad White announced that Christy Gomez, Jones County resident, has pleaded guilty to four counts of Organized Theft or Fraud Enterprise (RICO) charges. Between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022, Gomez fraudulently received proceeds from the Rental Assistance for Mississippians Program (RAMP) at the Mississippi Home Corporation and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.“Our team of investigators worked tirelessly to uncover this scheme,” said State Auditor Shad White. “We will continue to work alongside prosecutors to deliver record results for Mississippians.” Gomez was sentenced by Mississippi’s 18th Judicial District Court to 13 years, with 8 years to serve and 5 years’ probation per count, to run concurrently. Gomez was also ordered to pay back $81,035.63 in restitution.
Kingfish note: Gomes has a previous conviction for possession of meth.

I bet that restitution will be paid by the end of this month-
What did she actually do that was a fraud?
good luck getting 81k out of christy. but she will always have enough money for meth...........even while in prison.
RAMP
Revenue Acquired for Meth Purchases
this senate sounds long but it's not. she will do 2 years incarceration.
Just say NO to drugs.
ha we are all shocked she looks like she was doing so well
She just wanted one more taste of meth and then fell off the wagon. But she can quit anytime that she wants; just not now. Fortunately meth and cellphones are readily available in the Mississippi prison system (supplemental income for the COs).
@9:18 AM - Wins the internet today. "RAMP Revenue Acquired for Meth Purchases"
@9:11 - Good question. The report is brief and doesn't address the specifics. I'm going to assume, based on one of the sentences in the report that she was receiving funds from the Department of Employment Security while employed. May not be the case. Very sloppy and incomplete report from the Auditor if his intention is to be informative rather than simply grabbing another headline.
Someone did the RICO?
Good thing Shad is on it!
She operated a Rico? She looks like someone married to a guy named Rico
Lil Shad can write a new book on this one. “Jonesin in Jones Co. - Gomez’s journey to the meth house”
Shad should start working on his second book.
"Why the Mississippi Swindle was not RICO and DAMMIT quit asking me!"
