JPD issued several statements this afternoon.
Briarwood Drive Shooting
Shortly before 3:30pm, a 20-year-old male and female were shot while inside their vehicle. The suspects were 2 to 3 black males, traveling in a small red sedan, possibly a Hyundai. It is believed that the incident resulted from possible road rage that originated somewhere on Northside Dr. The suspects then followed the victims' vehicle before later opening fire.
The victims were transported to a hospital by private vehicle. The female suffered a gunshot wound to the head and the male suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Both are in stable condition.
The driver of the suspect vehicle appeared dark complected with dreads and a passenger of the vehicle had a blonde or red Mohawk.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Police.
Lampton Avenue

As part of the investigation, Officers responded to Memphis St. attempting to locate the primary crime scene when they observed a group of individuals. The two Officers involved were not injured. The 23-year-old male suspect was transported to a hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. Neither of their names are being released at this time.
Both Officers are being placed on administrative leave with pay pending an internal investigation, which is standard departmental procedure for all Officer involved shooting incidents.

The Jackson Police Department is actively

that Jackson Police would be investigating the incident after it
appeared that the decedent had suffered trauma

Wasn’t there a body with possible trauma also found in a burned auto body shop on Utica Avenue as well? Possibly earlier, as the above listed events all seemed to occur in same time of day.
Think it's bad now. Wait till December. Perks will feel sorry for themselves that they haven't gotten a piece of the American pie & will just take it.
Any updates on the severed head and the dead barber?
I drive that section of North State as well as Northside every day. The potholes are so bad that some people are not driving in the lanes. Given how trigger happy some Jacksonians are, a road rage shooting in this area is not a surprise.
People have already forgotten about the head left on the front porch.
How dare anyone say anything about crime in Jackson. It is the same everywhere. Wait, it isn't the same everywhere.
Jackson is a sanctuary for criminals. The crime rate might go down if the citizens would stop protecting the criminals. I know. It is a crazy idea and probably racist.
whenever these criminals come into Jackson, shooting people and stealing, we should throw bricks, rocks and bottles at them. Let them know they are not welcome and we don't want them here!
This is just a “perception” of crime. Jackson is safe and those that don’t agree are racist.
