Former LSU and NFL legend Y.A. Tittle died today. He could play a little bit of football. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler in the NFL and was LSU's first former player to be named MVP in the NFL. He won that award three more times after he was thirty-five years old.
However, he provided probably the most humorous play in the rivalry between LSU and Ole Miss. The Times-Picayune tells the story:
One of his unforgettable LSU moments came in his senior season against Ole Miss when he intercepted a fourth-quarter pass at the OM 15 from Rebels' great Charlie Conerly. As Tittle pulled away from the receiver who was grabbing the top of Tittle's pants from the rear, the receiver yanked Tittle's belt so hard that the belt buckle in the front of the pants broke. Then there was the time he passed for seven touchdowns in one game.
Tittle had a clear 70-yard path to the goal line. But trying to hold the football in one hand and hold up his pants with his other hand was too much. He was tackled at the LSU 38 and Ole Miss ended up winning 20-18. Article
He was a legend.

Rest in Peace!
It's really neat to see how the crowd dressed for the football games back then.
