Hi, my name is Sam. |
Investigators were able to obtain from information supplied by the victims the identity of the shooting suspect as Sam Kenta Johnson, 39 years of age from Jackson. Preliminary information received in the investigation provided additional evidentiary value to allow investigators to secure an arrest warrant for Johnson charging him with two counts of Aggravated Assault.
Investigators reached out to other law enforcement agencies across the state and were able to locate Johnson as he traveled in I-55 near Grenada, MS shortly after 10:30 am where he was taken into custody without incident. Johnson was transported to Grenada Police Department where investigators with Ridgeland Police Department will pick him up and transport back to Ridgeland PD. Johnson will be processed and held at Madison County Detention Center pending an initial appearance before a municipal court judge. No Bond has been set at this time.
No known motive has been revealed for the shooting and the history between Johnson and the female victim is unknown at this time as investigators are still gathering additional information. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Ridgeland Police Department at 601-856-2121

He was headed to Memphis, a certified sanctuary city.
@1:27 - He didn't need to head for Memphis. Jackson is a sanctuary city.
I don't "get" these two references to sanctuary cities, certified or not. Santuary cities are STRICTLY an imigration thing. I guess what you're trying to say without sounding too racist is that they are majority African American with high crime rates and low prosecution rates. If that's the case, why don't you just say it instead of hiding behind misuse of a term?
People get shot in Ridgeland and you people come on here to talk bad about Jackson. Typical.
@3:19
" the identity of the shooting suspect as Sam Kenta Johnson, 39 years of age from Jackson."
The shooter is a Jackson thug that traveled to Ridgeland to do his cowardly deed. Had the girlfriend worked in Jackson (of any other city) that is where he would have gone to shoot her and her current boyfriend. Keep your thugs in Jackson and leave all of us decent hard working folks in Ridgeland alone.
Ridgeland's spiral downward started with the announcement of Costco.
3:15, please keep up with current events. Jackson has been deemed a sanctuary city for criminals. Doesn't matter if they are illegals or home grown. Thugs, criminals, thieves, and the such.
Ridgeland is not spiraling downward, idiot at 3:56. Jackson is not the issue either. Domestic violence, people. Can happen anywhere. Probably in some of your own houses!
I pray that the two victims recover and am thankful that the shooter was apprehended. Great work by law enforcement.
Access to these places is wide open, regardless of key-systems. All the friend-boys know the codes. That's how they get in to steal shit from the residents.
@4:45. If you believe Ridgeland is not spiraling downward, it's safe to assume you haven't been east of the interstate in a while. The majority of the residents in the city of Ridgeland are renters. Ridgeland is spiraling downward. Your home values are dropping, regardless of which side of the interstate you live on. Get over it.
@7:42
Undoubtedly you don't live in or own property in Ridgeland. I live in and own my house and own a rental as well, both east of I-55. I had them appraised for refinancing a little over 2 years ago and again just a few months ago. The appraisal 2 years ago was up over 30% from when I built them in the mid 90's. The most recent appraisal was up 23% from the one 2 years ago. Downward spiral? I don't think so.
Meanwhile a house in NE Jackson that I sold for $89K in 1995 is now on the market for $56.2K and that is reduction $4K from when it was listed over a year ago. I have a friend who bought a house off of Old Canton Road in 1982 for ~$60K. He has had it on the market for over a year and has reduced the price to $49K recently. He has had three contracts but none of them were able to qualify. Now, tell me about where home values are dropping.
You all are forgetting the point that 2 people were shot today and it could have been worse. It doesn't matter what city or what your home value is! We need to stop pointing fingers and try to get together for a solution!
10:32...Thank you for hosting this round-table discussion, and for bringing snacks for the group. Also, thank you for asking me to join the group as we consider ways to "get together for a solution" to the problem of angry men who shoot their ex-friend-girls and their current squeeze. Speaking for the group, can I ask that you start the discussion with your personal recommendation for moving forward? I mean, it WAS your idea to 'get together for a solution'...Were there any more of the chocolate chip cookies?
As long as there has been poontang withheld, on this planet, there has been the incidence of violent reprisal.
We live in a country where a woman who tries to move on from an old relationship to a new one gets shot by her ex, and all anyone cares to talk about is race.
Keep shrugging your shoulders at domestic violence as if it's normal, and it will keep on being normal.
