Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
Approximately 12:17pm on Thursday, April 3, 2025, a deputy with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics & Interdiction Task Force conducted a traffic stop on I-20 eastbound near the 71-mile marker which is close to Pelahatchie. After making initial contact with the driver of the SUV, the deputy noted that the odor of marijuana was emitting from within the vehicle. As they prepared to conduct a search the vehicle, the driver fled the traffic stop and a motor vehicle pursuit began. As the suspect’s vehicle fled eastbound on I-20, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department. During the pursuit, deputies noted that the suspect was dumping bags of narcotics out of the car windows onto the interstate. At one point, a deputy observed multiple children in the vehicle leading deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department to deploy spike strips at the Exit 88. As the suspect approached the Scott County Deputy Sheriff who was attempting to deploy the spike strip, he swerved toward the deputy nearly striking him. The vehicle came a stop a short time later and the driver was identified as Tyrone Jacoberson Dorsey was taken into custody. The female passenger and all three (3) children were escorted to a local hotel until family members could come and take them home. Tyrone Dorsey has been charged with Felony Fleeing, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Felony Child Endangerment. He is also facing a charge of Attempted Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer in Scott County for nearly striking the deputy with his vehicle.
Kingfish note: It appears the suspect is a registered sex offender. The suspect has the same middle name. Thanks to the reader who notified this website.

So the female goes home so she can bail her boyfriend out later?
He is a registered sex offender in Virginia. Photo matches. https://www.vspsor.com/Offender/Details/3c40ede1-0df7-46c6-8375-dfc141306868 https://www.offenderradar.com/offender-details/jacoberson-dorsey-tyrone-of-virginia-314470
What more can I say? Yep, he is an idiot.
What Not To Do when pulled over. Praise Gos the children are safe. Mother should be charged with endangerment also.

As it turns out, the address for the accused on the
Rankin County Jail CURRENT Inmate Search appears to match the address for a person with the same name listed on the Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry:

It was simply a training run. Teaching his children how to conduct themselves in life.
His height (5 04) matches and his address...our comments posted at the same time!
Although a danger to the children, making a drug run disguised as a family outing may work sometimes. Kudos to RCSO for not being fooled. Hope his criminal record results in a long stay at that nice facility in the Delta. It gets really hot up there in the summer.
I-20 continues to produce!
What? No Possession with Intent to Distribute?
I notice the odor of marijuana emitting from vehicles often times when I am walking through the Kroger or Walmart parking lots.
Good job to all Law Enforcement involved! To the violators, don’t travel through Mississippi with that shigity, we may be hicks, but the boys in blue are good at what they do!
Driving dirty on I-20 will get you 10-20.
The Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus has historically fought and voted against more stringent legislation for crimes similar to that the Jacoberson's of the world were convicted of in the State of Virginia.
I smelled marijuana at the Hal & Mal's St. Paddy Day parade but had zero expectation that anyone in law enforcement would do anything about it.
@10:44 They don’t really have the option anymore. With legal hemp, the line blurs enough that you’d have to send it for gas chromatography to determine THC levels to see if it were legal or street.
Expensive for a weed bust.
Seems like 174 legislators could qualify for the idiot of the day award. A tie!
Charge the female with conspiracy and get the kids to CPS. They need some sort of chance.
But, but, but Joseph Wade said they were patrolling with drones.
I’ve said it here before, and l’m going to say it here again: No good comes from using weed.
Also no good comes from using alcohol.
They should both be illegal.
@10:40 AM How about we practice freedom and liberty and let adults make decisions for themselves and also face the consequences for their actions if they are negligent or irresponsible?
@9:21 - that’s simply not true. Plenty of people would be much worse off without it. It’s a practical miracle drug for certain conditions.
But most people abuse it.
