The Capitol Police issued the following statement.
31-year-old
Demontez Anderson has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault
on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, and
injuring a public service animal.
The
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is actively investigating this
officer-involved shooting. Upon completing the investigation, agents
will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office. Due to
this being an ongoing investigation, no further comment will be made.
Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindall issued the following statement about the wounded K9, Tank.
We are happy to report that the Capitol Police K-9 injured during yesterday’s officer-involved shooting is expected to make a full recovery.

After an overnight stay at the vet, it was determined the K-9 was not shot but was injured by shrapnel after a bullet struck a metal component inside the officer’s vehicle.
Please continue to keep both the officer and our K-9 in your thoughts and prayers as they recover.
Kingfish note: Anderson was arrested in 2011 for carrying a gun onto the campus of Clinton High School. He was charged with a felony. However, there is no record of prosecution so either the case was dropped or it was assigned to youth court. He was 17 years old.

I'm a genuine dog lover, but it does say a lot about today's society when it becomes clear that many people are more concerned about the welfare of a dog over the welfare of a human. I have to refocus sometimes myself.....
Thank the Lord. Tank looks like a very good boy😀
Let that K-9 have a few minutes alone in the cell with Mr. Anderson.
Thank you for posting this!
Great news!
@3:41. I hope that more people are concerned about the K-9 than the POS scumbag that shot at the officers. That mf was 31 years old, he should die in prison! Well, at least I hope he does, since he will be going through an actual judicial system instead of that crap jody boy runs
@3:41 If you're talking about the guy that shot at the officer and whomever else was in the line of his fire, my opinion is that his human status has been revoked.
I am thankful everyone and the pup are ok. God bless our police officers (including our K9 ones).
Its not dog over man, the post was about an update on the dog. Cap police had said the officer was not seriously physically injured. There are many who posted well wishes for the officer on that post.
Give that dog a steak supper.
@6:01 that's because the mental aspect of being fired upon isn't a physical injury... whoever said it was dog over human... put on a badge and come play, those "dogs " are what helps the human get home safe. Anyone who is questioning anything, put in an app an come out an see what its really like... but go ahead an get an appointment with your shrink.

In your mind this post may make some kinda sense but what the hell does this have to do about the news at hand here???

Any person that would open fire on a police officer (or his K-9) does not deserve to be classified as human. I'm sure you'll be first in line to offer his bail and pay for his defense by a first rate attorney. And then you can let him move in with you and show him the way humans really conduct themselves.
