Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced on Monday, April 14, 2025, that
Dontarius Magee pleaded guilty to four charges — armed robbery, armed carjacking, attempted
murder, and kidnapping — all related to a 2021 incident.
On November 2, 2021, Jackson Police Officers responded to a shooting incident involving Brandy
Littrell, who had been attacked shortly after picking up a passenger through Lyft at the Spring
Lake Apartments in Byram. The passenger, later identified as Dontarius Magee, lured Littrell to
an apartment complex and pulled out an assault weapon, hijacked her vehicle, took her belongings,
and forced her into the backseat at gunpoint. According to police, Magee drove Littrell to a wooded
area off Beasley Road, where he ordered her to crawl into the bushes before shooting her at least
seven times, leaving her for dead. Littrell managed to escape and get help. Magee was later
arrested, taken into custody, and charged without bond.
"This case represents one of the most violent and senseless acts we have prosecuted. The victim
was targeted while simply doing her job. Her strength and will to survive is nothing short of
remarkable. Today’s sentence ensures that Dontarius Magee is held accountable for the pain and
trauma he inflicted, and it sends a clear message that this behavior will not be tolerated in Hinds
County." District Attorney Owens said after sentencing.
Magee was sentenced to 25 years for attempted murder, 25 years for armed carjacking, 30 years
for kidnapping, and 30 years for armed robbery. All sentences are to be served concurrently in the
custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

I wish it were consecutively instead of concurrently
How long before he's considered to be "rehabilitated" and released on good behavior? These tough sentences all sound good at the outset, but sooner or later, hard feelings fade, and the "compassionate" crew starts their rumblings. Next thing you know (in about 6 or 7 years). 'ol Dontarius is out here walking the streets with the rest of us.....just looking for his next victim and trying to make up for lost time.
Hard to imagine why crime has gotten so bad, isn't it?
reminder that this should’ve been tried as a hate crime. And it would’ve been tried as a hate crime if the shooter were a white male and the victim were a black female. Instead it was the opposite and was totally ignored by the media.
A killer that is too lazy to hide a body and makes the victim hide herself belongs in prison for life.
Very true. Even though she survived the trauma will be with her for the rest of her life.
09:35 concur. Rehabilitation is possible (perhaps0 but such flagrant disregard for others in society should be prevented from ever occurring again by this individual even if his opportunity for a future meaningful life is forfeit.
So very true, especially with Mississippi's morally corrupt parole board, or a future bleeding heart governor.
It's not enough
Total agree on the hate crime. We all know why it wasn’t prosecuted as a hate crime but a legal question. What is the reason they give that it is not prosecuted as a hate crime? Would love to hear those verbal gymnastics.
He'll find Jesus, become a pastor and be out in less than 20. Only to do it again. You can't stop this kind of shit by incarceration only. Execution must be used to instill some element of fear into animals such as these.
Ship this thug on a one-way ticket to El Salvador.
Club Fed can't come fast enough for Jody Owens.

The Violent Criminal Fears Not The Police. He Fears Not Judge Or Jury. If The Criminal Is To Be Taught Fear It Must Be Taught By His Intended Victim.
Col Jeff Cooper USMC
25 years for kidnaping a poor lady, shooting her multiple times, and leaving her to die?! What a disgrace.
Lame
Am I the only one that thinks that this should have been resolved within a year of the crime? Maybe, Jody Owens office file cabinet received a little extra cash to mismanage this case...but then the feds came in and now he has to do his job?
People are fed up with this! 4 years for thisbullshit excuse for justice. He should have been given life without parole
Attorney Bowie . . . bang bang
