Scott Colom's lead over Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith continues to grow as it reached 1,724 votes this afternoon.
If Colom pulls this off, it will be the political earthquake of the 21st century in Mississippi.
Madison County was not the only county where the Senator underperformed. Republican Congressman Michael Guest received 1,789 more votes than the Senator in the Republican stronghold of Rankin County.
Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Michael Hurst said there are an estimated 17,000 ballots to be counted. He said an election integrity team is making sure each ballot is properly counted or discounted. The Chairman said he is "enthusiastic" about the ballots since many are in Republican areas.

Colom is a good Mississippi dude. Anyone who actually bothers to look into his record should be happy for some new energy.
It’s mostly hinds and delta? Some on coast. The expirian use hit AA the hardest and border people with jobs in other states.
Would be incredible if he wins by 1776 votes!
Aren’t affidavit ballots the key? Those who were not active on roll but who voted and then cured deficiency? Those are all AA voters by design. 15,000 plus? Colom is the winner if thats true
Breaking news: Mississippians are tired of the same ol' shit.
That is not the same thing as an endorsement for Colom, but it is a message to the Republican party to get to business or get out of office.
Phil Bryant and Cindy Hyde Smith own this from the get go
Cindy, save Mississippians the time, expense, and effort of a drawn-out count, and graciously concede. You didn't campaign as if you actually wanted the job anyway. Go home and sit on your porch like you said in your commercials.
I don’t care if he is a Black Democrat as long as he is an America 🇺🇸 First patriot and not on the obedient take from representatives of a foreign government!
