Challenger Scott Colom saw his lead over incumbent Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith grow to 1,138 votes this evening with 95.6% of the vote counted.
This gonna be a tough one.
* One last note. Quite a few people observed Colom won Madison County. There is a bigger story in the numbers.
Colom won the county by 348 votes, 22,712 to 22,364 votes. Madison is blue. Madison is purple. Well, not so fast, my friends. Check out these vote totals.
Republican vote (Guest and Eller): 24,140
Democrat (Thompson and some dude): 20,822
The Republican congressional candidates outperformed the Senator by 1,776 votes. If she just matches the votes for Guest and Eller, she is probably in the lead. So.... why did she underperform in Madison County?
