Crisler Gets 30 Months

The Justice Department issued the following statement.

Former Hinds County Sheriff Marshand Crisler was sentenced today to 30 months in prison for soliciting and accepting bribes and for knowingly providing ammunition to a convicted felon. Crisler was also ordered to pay a $15,000 fine.

Crisler, 55, was appointed as Sheriff of Hinds County in August 2021. The evidence at trial showed that shortly after becoming Sheriff, Crisler solicited and accepted $9,500 in cash bribes from a convicted felon over three months, from September through November of 2021. In exchange for that money, Crisler agreed to provide favors through his position as Hinds County Sheriff. These favors included sharing information concerning future criminal investigations involving the bribe payor, moving a jailed family member to a better place within the Hinds County Jail, and hiring the bribe payor to work at the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office. Crisler also gave ammunition to the bribe payor, knowing that the person was a convicted felon.

On November 8, 2024, a federal jury found Crisler guilty on all counts, following a three-day trial in U.S. District Court in Jackson. It is against federal law for a public official to solicit or accept bribes, and it is also against federal law for anyone to provide firearm ammunition to a known convicted felon.

Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick Lemon of the Southern District of Mississippi and Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation made the announcement.

The FBI investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Bert Carraway and Charles W. Kirkham prosecuted the case.

Kingfish note: The court docket states:

Minute Entry for proceedings held before District Judge Tom S. Lee:Sentencing held on 2/11/2025 for Marshand Crisler (1). On each of Counts 1 and 2, Defendant is sentenced to 30 months in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons, concurrent, followed by a 3-year term of supervised release, and a $15,000 fine. The court recommended that defendant be assigned to the nearest facility to Jackson, Mississippi.

Maybe when Lumumba gets there they can bunk together.

Crisler threw his life away for $9,500. I continue to be amazed at how cheap elected officials can be bought.

I just heard a loud ass clap way over here.

He fit right in as a Hinds County/Jackson officeholder--untrustworthy.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Next up - the mayor and the DA

You think Crisler dropped a "what about him" to the FBI on Lumumba?

Message here -- Chockwe, Jody: Yall need to listen up and pay attention.

" It is against federal law for a public official to solicit or accept bribes".

Crisler got 30 months for a littlee $9,500 cash bribe; nothing like those you picked up on the yacht prior to the strip club (or was it after, I lose track). And there weren't the kind of witnesses -- you know, your 'dates' for the trip on hand for Crisler. Nor were there audio and video tapes.

Need to think about this as you traverse the next few months, and wonder whether the other public official that accepted a bribe, you know - the one you sent to the kiddy table - might be talking about this very clause with folks as we speak.

Hope you sleep good tonight - and tomorrow. Time's running out.

@2:33 They're all so dumb they think as long as they accept under $10k, they'll never be investigated.

Marshand Crisler was shot in the leg.

Maybe by the time Crisler gets paroled Rukia will have paid her property taxes.

Jody Owens mafia style will be a hoot in Court, if he testifies. Lumumba will be the same lying scoundrel we've known for eight years, employing every fallacy trick he knows, just to convince a single juror the he, Lil Choke, is the Savior of the Black race.

2:33 - you are assuming that the $9,500 that he got caught with - this time - was the only money that led to his throwing his life away.

That's like bellieving that the $50k on the yacht for Baby Chock, or the couple hundred grand for our upstanding DA, is the only $$$s that they have taken over the course of their "public service".

Anyone that believes $50k for the convention center hotel deal is Chock's only bribe wasn't paying attention as he played the system to get his Detroit buddies in on the collection of trash (via a garbage contract) here in the City with Soul. Much more to be uncovered as that trash is unpiled.

He’s been a government grifter his entire adult life. Looks like he will get free room and board for a few more years.

Crisler attorney John(not guilty)Colette stated that the star witness was a convicted felon! So what! Why was the interim Sheriff warm and fuzzy with a convicted felon? Why did he give and or sell a convicted felon a gun and ammunition? Now I’m just an ignorant and misunderstood old man but I ain’t that stupid!
Play stupid games, go directly to federal prison. I don’t know Mr Crisler but I wish him well.

As the giving Crisler the position of interim Sheriff, I blame the Hinds County Supervisors for even giving Crisler a second thought. Dang y’all messed up this man’s life!

Crisler do not keep giving your defense attorneys money. This ain’t Hinds County’s Kangaroo Court! Do your time and do better in the future. You’re a man built for prison. 30 months ain’t long! Just don’t tattoo your face!!!

Don't bribe me, just make a campaign donation to me.

Just glad his mother was not around to see today. She was one of the most wonderful women I have ever known. A true class act. Dad is good people also.

30 months on each of two counts = 60 months = five years. Kept waiting for 'with 54 months suspended'.

Did he bring his empty suit Beverly Hogan? Ruined her reputation supporting this shallow clown.

It is, but they don’t usually send them to one that close to home. By the way, Yazoo is not a Club Fed.

@7:08 PM The two 30 month sentences are to be served concurrently, so effectively 30 months.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
