There is a Tempest in Tupelo

The Tupelo Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff's Office issued the following statements.

From the Tupelo Police Department Chief John Quaka:
On Sunday, February 2nd, the Tupelo Police Department received a report of a juvenile being previously assaulted by an adult. After identifying the suspect as a City of Tupelo mayoral candidate, TPD determined it was in the best interest of transparency and fairness to refer the case to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
TPD will no longer be involved in the investigation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
From the Lee County Sheriff’s Department
Sheriff Jim H Johnson
On Saturday, 02/01/2025, at approximately 2200 hours, there was an incident on St. Andrews Drive in Belden, MS, where juveniles were present, “ding-dong-ditching”. The homeowner, who had experienced a similar incident a few hours earlier, was outside dressed in dark clothing and waiting in a darkened area when the juveniles approached the residence again.
One of the two 13-year-old juveniles rang the doorbell and knocked on the door. When both turned to run away to a waiting side-by-side, the homeowner emerged from the dark and kicked one of the 13-year-old juveniles in the groin as he attempted to run away.
This incident was captured on video by a 14-year-old juvenile waiting in the side-by-side. That video is consistent with the story given by the juveniles. Both 13-year-old juveniles were described as under 5 feet tall; one weighs approximately 96 pounds, and the other weighs approximately 120 pounds.
On 02/03/2025, the parents of the assaulted 13-year-old juvenile filed a report with the Lee County Sheriff's Department, and an affidavit was signed. A warrant was issued for Simple Assault against 56-year-old Robert N. Chambers.
On 02/04/2025, Robert N. Chambers turned himself in at the Lee County Adult Detention Center. He was processed and has been released on bond.
Despite statements on social media, there is no evidence that this incident was the result of political motivation or intimidation.
Arrested: Robert N Chambers, 56 years old, Belden, MS
Charge: 1 count of Simple Assault
Bond is a misdemeanor at $600

Kingfish note: Rob Chambers, hmmm...... where have we heard that name before? Oh yeah. Remember the three people who broke into the Hinds County courthouse the night of the 2014 Senatorial primary? JJ reported on June 4, 2014:

It seems Central Mississippi Tea Party President Janis Lane cannot stay out of trouble.  Ms. Lane and two other women gained access to the Hinds County Circuit Clerk's office around 2:00 AM.  The Hinds County Sheriff's Office is investigating the invasion.

Update: HCSO just confirmed in writing that the two other individuals with Janis Lane were Scott Brewster and Rob Chambers. Scott Brewster is the "Coalition Director" for the campaign. Mr. Chambers is a consultant for the Mississippi Baptist Christian Action Commission

Oops.

He should get an award for kicking that kid in the nuts, and the kid's parents should be ashamed for having him arrested. That kid probably learned a life lesson and was lucky he wasn't shot.

As a Tupelo resident who lives in a neighborhood right beside this one, I will defend Mr. Chambers that this kid needed to be kicked in the nuts. There are 3 teenage brats whose parents let them go wild in the neighborhood. They were out beating on a man’s door who just had open heart surgery, along with generally terrorizing the whole neighborhood. You play those games these days you’re likely to get shot. Those kids and their parents all need to be kicked in the nuts.

That being said, Rob Chambers is a nut. Way too many people on the Facebook said they were voting for him now for doing this.

Ding dong ditch=Ding dong kick

Sounds as though he was using “Castle Doctrine” to defend himself, his family and his home. Punk kids need to learn stupid actions have consequences. Shame on the parents for blaming Mr. Chambers. Take those punks home and get out the “razor strop” and teach them a lesson.

ding-dong-ditching

When I was a kid, it was called a much less PC name.

This day and times you don’t do that shigity! I always come to my door with a firearm within reach to protect me and my family. I don’t know the intentions or the plan of the unknown parties entering my property. The parents should be thankful that they are not planning a funeral.

People on this board really are nuts. You defend kicking a 96 pound boy in the nuts and sounds like most of you would prefer that he be shot. You are either nuts or old and crotchety. What's the average age of JJ posters, 90?

I guess both can be true: He's a nut and the kid deserved a kick in the nuts. The fact that they are both small kids probably means that he had other options, but this will be an interesting Castle Doctrine case.

Kid got WAAAAAAY less than he deserved. One hopes that the parents who filed the report, get what THEY deserve.

Does the Kicker have a DEFENSE FUND?

And have the kids' cell phones been confiscated/downloaded/entered into evidence, to provide a history/log of their misdeeds? There'll be a civil suit (probably what the creeps have been hoping for: to provoke an incident, and sue, when somebody overreacts), and hopefully, the phone evidence will be enough for countersuits (by various injured parties - the heart surgery patient, for example) which will more -than-erase any monetary reward.

The kid's parents are the problem. Little Johnny didndu Nothing is perfect and never wrong. My told would have told me "tough sh!t, you get what you deserve". I hope the parents get laughed out of town. A lawsuit for your kids getting kicked in the zipper for doing wrong, what a crock of crap. I would have ran some heavy mono fishing line and when he went to ditch, I would have tripped him up and made him eat the dirt...then rolled him over and kicked him in the nuts.

What charges are the perps facing? Side by side on the streets legal?

Ol' boy got his figs busted !!!

Those kids picked the right neighborhood. I know places in Jackson where they would be sending for the coroner. This could have been a much harder learning experience.

The kids were in the wrong, but a 56 year old man who would kick a 13 year in the groin deserves what he has coming to him and then some. Chambers is a moron and needed his ass kicked a long time ago...

I didn't see any of the incident. Because I didn't see it, I can't say the man was wrong for the kick. I don't need to see the incident, to know the kids were wrong for their actions.

Not only the kids, but the parents are wrong for defending the kids. It's the parents lack of teaching their kids respect that caused the incident.

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you are a nut, and occasionally you get kicked in the nuts! Time for the parents to bend over!

What a bunch of MAGA snowflakes! The kids were having a little fun, and not hurting anyone. You all need to chill out, and he should have been arrested. You can’t just attack people like that.

So underage children were disturbing the peace and operating an off-road vehicle illegally on a public road? Seems like the light should shine in both directions and include the parents who knowingly allowed this activity.

10:19 sounds like he should be in California with all the other "Nancy Boys".

10:19 & 11:56 Out of all the posts here You two are the only ones on the Parents of the kids who did the deed.

I'm a 50s model boomer that lots of posters here detest. We did the same thing back when we were going up. Some were caught like these kids were and some were not. I got caught ONCE by the old WWII veteran down the street. Grabbed me by the hair of my head and took me home and Pop wore my ass out while he watched !!!! I didnt to that shit again.

I never rang another doorbell unless I was standing there waiting for the door to open.

Hats off the the to the man that had balls enough to go out and doing something about it. In this day and age most everyone has cameras at all entrances to their homes. Too bad the little teen snots were too stupid to think of that. Was just a matter of time before they got something worse.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
