He shot at police. Seems justified to me. If somebody shoots at me, I'm shooting back.
Another entry for the "Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes" chapter. For the deceased, that is. Godspeed to the officer who was struck for a speedy recovery.
More suicide by cop. Amazing that folks are really dumb enough to think getting out of a car at a traffic stop and shooting at police will have a favorable result, unless they hope that they will be killed by the cops returning fire. But it seems to happen all too often. Thanks to the police who put themselves on the line and take the risk of encountering these fools every day.
To say I'm sick of this kind of shit would be a HUGE understatement! I don't have to ask who it was, because I'm pretty confident I already know.
The sheer number of criminals in the tri-county area is no longer manageable, and that statistic alone it makes it increasingly more difficult to live here. I never thought I'd have to leave my hometown of Jackson, but I did. Unfortunately, places in close proximity to Jackson are becoming subject more and more to the same intolerable behavior that Jackson tolerates (and sometimes even foments). At some point in my lifetime, the culture of destruction may cause me to simply leave the State altogether.
Good! Now don't waste our tax dollars on a long investigation of the officer.
A snapshot of what LEOs accept they may have to face every day they report for duty. Every day.
Jackson moves a little closer to Memphis every day.
@ 6:43. Yes, I agree. I went through the Starbucks drive through in Madison yesterday. I was appalled at the number of hoodlums roaming around the parking lot and that area. Have heard that Georgia Blue nearby is experiencing the same thing.
No preliminary hearing, no trial, no state court appeal, no appeal to federal court and no long term incarceration- perfect.
Righteous Kill!
I'll set the over/under for how many times the shooter has been caught and released in Hinds county at 1.5
6:43 You know who did this? Wow. In case the police have any difficulty identifying the person you should be prepared to help. Are they friends of yours or were you somehow involved with the incident?
Godspeed to our men and women in blue. Shooting at the police is asking to die.
You've not been paying attention. Jackson outpaces Memphis in every criminal category as well as inept municipal leadership for decades. Memphis just takes up more land-mass.
When you're not firmly taught what law and order are at home while growing up, you don't know what it is in real life - and it can cost you your life.
Watched the news at 10 last night. Witness said person exited car with hand up and police shot individual in the back. So he didn't shoot policeman in the stomach? Sick of the media posting anything that creates controversy without having all the facts.
7:53, interesting take. I suppose if the cops are in the right, the body cams will back them up. If the body cams were not operating, well…
You’d have to be pretty naive to blindly trust a cop’s version of events in Rankin County. Let’s wait and see what the evidence shows, at this point we only have the story of known liars.
Personally I don't care what the body camera shows. If you don't want to get shot by the cops don't pull a gun on them.
Great job officers!
It's way PAST time, 7:26, for Madison to get NOISE CAMS. Vehicles thumping, or with loud mufflers, will trigger those cams - documenting the presence of bad people, and providing valid reasons for pulling-them-over. And maybe citizens should feel more comfortable in reporting illegal tinting, blacked-out headlights/taillights, tires extending beyond wheel wells (they throw rocks), "coal-burners", and other violations.
It's really comparing apples to oranges. Most of our shootings are between crazies that use guns to solve a dispute. In big cities, they are crime related or mass shootings. Please people, when you travel to a city in another state. Spend 15 minutes viewing a local newscast. Last time I was in another southern state capital city (not Memphis), a white boy was on a shooting up his entire neighborhood. There were guns used in two robberies that same day. In a midwestern capital I was visiting where I saw no African Americans the entire visit, there were 4 shootings during the commission of robberies and they were looking for white suspects.
My hometown of 35000 has more crime than we do. Theirs is done by professional criminal passing through a far wealthier state hitting a few "easy pickin's" along the way. Our crime is usually done by wannabes without much in the way of " smarts" and most didn't make it out of high school!
The worst crime we have in Mississippi is corruption and your murderer will likely be someone you know!
So what about the CAPD officers that returned fire and are now indicted for doing so?
I’m sure he was a good boy, getting his life back together, just started back to church and recently started getting his GED.
@ 9:11 AM - That's quite a broad brush you're painting with.
10:53 Didn't you know. Painting with those little bitty brushes takes too much time. This may be sloppy but it's a lot easier.
It what world is it a good idea to shoot at people that must certify to carry a firearm? Especially while running away.
@6:43. I hate to say it, but you're right. I lived in Jackson for a number of years, and moved to the suburbs when the neighborhood got too rough. There was a time in the 'burbs when you didn't see people walking the streets in house slippers and shower caps while smoking a black n mild, but now it is prevalent all around. I'd say give it 20 years, and Ridgeland (already heading that direction), Clinton, Brandon, Madison, and Pearl will resemble smaller versions of Jackson. More and more criminal activity will overflow, and all of the self-respecting residents (white and black) will move farther and farther away. It's disheartening when you think about how nice the metro area was 30+ years ago.
Yea, let's see those bystander photos, too. Wonder what they show. I bet these "witnesses" were the others in the car. Should've stayed in jackistan.
Flowood PD just released a statement detailing what happened, supposedly because of the false statement from a witness.
Seeing comments that officer had gun drawn and suspect was defending. Considering he is LEO and the guy on the grown is fleeing a lawful stop, this is a photo that officers should have their gun drawn during these instances. The argument that the suspect was “defending” is stupid. Very stupid. If you want to “defend”, just “obey”. Something that seems to be lost on so many. The officer clearly did his job. The only issue is that some in our society think that job is unwarranted. But those people are dying daily at their own hands.
Well done my good and faithful servants! Thank you to all who keep us safe
WAPT should be ashamed at irresponsible reporting
Never should have ran, must have done something wrong, pull a gun and now gone!
Wait shouldn’t be a trusted news source
The real losers are the police officers. They will be dragged through the mud, face months and months of investigations and have to live with what happened and what could have happened. God bless you gentlemen and thank you for protecting us.
So 24 hours later and no name? Is that normal?
8:27, this is 6:43. Should I send you my email address so you can apologize?
