Clinton Mayor-Elect William Purdie issued the following statement.
William C. Purdie is poised to take the helm as the next mayor of Clinton,
Mississippi, following the conclusion of the current mayoral term. Running uncontested in the
upcoming election, Purdie is set to assume office with a clear mandate to lead the city into its
next chapter of growth and development.
"I am honored by the trust and confidence of the people of Clinton," said Purdie. "Local
government, more than any other level of government, has the ability to have a very tangible
effect on the day-to-day lives of its citizens. This city holds a special place in my heart, and I
look forward to serving our residents and strengthening our community."Purdie’s administration will focus on key issues such as economic development, public safety,
infrastructure improvements, and enhancing quality-of-life initiatives for Clinton’s citizens. As
he prepares to take office, he remains committed to an open and transparent administration that
prioritizes the needs of the community. While he is uncontested, Purdie also encourages citizens
to get out and vote in the upcoming municipal elections, as there are several other contested
seats.
More details regarding the transition and Purdie’s plans for his administration will be shared in
the coming months.

Brother just cause you ran unopposed doesn't mean you got a mandate.
I never thought "nobody else wants the job" would equal "mandate."
Only one guy wants to be mayor of the only sucessfull and prosperous city in Hinds County while 22 people want to be mayor of the most dangerous and backwards city in Mississippi. Signs and wonders! Are we living in the last days or what?
His mandate comes from heaven. Like Xi Jinping or Emperor Akihito. You atheists wouldn’t understand.
Clinton is just West Jackson now. Reason I moved to Hattiesburg.
He will make a great mayor and anybody who contemplated running for the job realized it. Happy for him and happy for Clinton.
But there could be support for a write in candidate! It isn’t over yet.
