A recent audit of Jackson’s Real-Time Command Center [RTCC] reveals severe staffing shortages, as well as hundreds of inoperable cameras. Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney revealed details of the findings at a Jackson City Council committee meeting on Thursday. She told members that of the 700 or so cameras that have been reviewed, more than 400 were not working. Meanwhile, she says that the center has just four staffers, and that the center has historically not been staffed on nights and weekends.
“We currently have one opening, and one that will be coming open,” she said. “We’ve been talking to HR about all of our needs, about not just these positions, but other non-sworn [positions].” To address the problem, Brackney has adjusted shifts to expand coverage. She also has issued a directive to each precinct to identify a person during each shift to send to the facility so it can be staffed. Honestly, bringing this forward and making the issue known is the right step. Putting officers in the center is also another good move. At least they're acknowldging a problem, whereas the previous clown didn't want those cameras working for obvious reasons.
No cameras, no crime, but the no-show jobs continue. Right?
I would like to see the true cost over time for the RTCC; most likely a HUGE investment without much return, but the technology companies made HUGE profits setting it up. Elected officials and administration just love shiny new things.

Lumumba cooked the books and obfuscated on providing accurate and truthful financial reporting to the City Council for at least the last 3 fiscal years to hide the corruption, graft and incompetence.
Meanwhile, the City Council thought they smelled shit but did nothing of any substance to find the dropped piles including the accumulated $23 MILLION dollar budget deficit.
What it is time for is time for our Legislature to pass laws with substantial criminal penalties that hold the elected malfeasant like Lumumba accountable even after they've left office.

I was slightly confused and thought the Real Time Crime Center shared an address with the Downtown Cigar Company, but apparently I was mistaken to some degree.
Can't blame this on the new chief and she's not trying to sweep it under the rug. Trying to work with what she's been given.

I am almost certain when said real time crime center was announced it was met with tons of cynical comments that were rightfully stated. There were also met with rebuttals from people in the Lumumba camp telling all of those with cynical comments how wrong they were and called said people all kinds of names. Now, years later, turns out the cynical comments were correct. More rinse, wash, repeat actions(inactions really) from Jackson’s leadership.

Jackson can fix itself, but the city doesn’t want that. Have you considered that all the blight is manufactured for a specific reason? Crime is ignored for a specific reason? Jackson is the capital city, it is a run-down shell of its former self. Believe it or not, it used to be the place to go. It will never be anywhere near what it was because of the leadership. We all know this but pretend it will make some miracle comeback. That city is gone, never to return. Go ahead though, invest all you can into the city. I’m sure it will make such a huge difference.

Simple solution - close the Jackson 911 center, move everything to Capital Police HQ, then hire several people in the Philippines to watch the cameras during the night (their daytime), run plates, and dispatch straight to the cruisers in perfect English for all agencies with one person watching over the whole show.

Got one better, I will volunteer to watch the cameras on the weekends for a few hours. That way, I can actually see the amount of crime going on in Jackson and report it back to you guys with all the crime that was recorded. It would not cost Jackson any money for me to do that. Just trying to do my part for transparency, law and order.
Papa J, fully agree with your last point. There has to be criminal pain to force the charlatans like Antard to think twice. Wish Horhn would produce a comprehensive report detailing all his team has found.
