Hinds County District 2 Supervisor Tony Smith is taking his fight to keep his seat to the Mississippi Supreme Court. Mr. Smith filed a notice of appeal today.
Mr. Smith beat incumbent Supervisor David L. Archie by a 2:1 margin in 2021. Archie cried foul, claiming the election was stolen. The ousted Supervisor challenged the election in Court. His efforts paid off as Special Circuit Judge Barry Ford threw out the results and ordered a new election be held.

What you are seeing here is just David Archie is a sore loser. There is no evidence of fraud, just a district which is tired of Archie's antics.

Hope Smith’s lawyer has enough sense to seek a stay of the election date or whatever is proper procedure. Unsure if filing an appeal is enough. Maybe some lawyer or Pete Perry can chime in.
I don’t live in hinds county but I’m pulling for Archie he entertains me on the 10:00 pm news I love his drama!
The term will be over so the issue will be moot before the Ms. Supreme Court rules
Anybody think Archie got done wrong and deserved to be reinstated to the position? If so, why and based on what?
If Archie's election, which he lost by a wide margin, is overturned then obviously ALL the elections that day should be overturned as well. Unless this judge is saying that Archie's race was the only one affected by the incompetence of the Hinds election commission. This is ridiculous but it's Archie.
You guys need to be concerned with election integrity. Archie may be a crazy but Tony Smith? Really? Talk about an upstanding individual. A drunk and vengeful. You guys deserve what you get.
Can we just go back to about 2012, the last time that Hinds County had a mostly competent Board of Supervisors?
Read the court transcripts. Election integrity. There is none in Hinds County and the residents don’t care? Reap what you sow. Sorry that it is Archie clouding your view. But it is bigger than the people running for office You have been hosed for years. You should be enraged that this was allowed to happen with your vote.
Can one of the numerous attorneys that read JJ comment on how the re-run of a primary impacts a general election that had another independent candidate on the ballot? Surely an Archie victory would not put him automatically into office.
David L. Archie is a poor misunderstood man. He was born into poverty and the white people of Mississippi did him wrong. This is the reason why David acts the way he does. Let's give David a big hug and tell him it's going to be alright
The thing missing from all the reportage about this is the words “without evidence.” Maybe those words are reserved by the lugenpresse for the unapproved candidates.

8:35 The judge's ruling makes it clear that any one of the losing candidates in all those Hinds County elections could have had their results declared void no less than Archie. However, they are not David Archie or Donald T. so they simply accepted defeat rather than make a stink.
