Welcome to America

Sometimes we forget America is the beautiful as visiting World Cup soccer fans have reminded us thanks to the power of social media.

There are always going to be a few spoilsports.

Seriously?

I'm convinced Democrats and the Liberal Left absolutely despise for America do be great. They hate the USA. Seeing all of the foreigners visiting the USA for the World Cup was great.

The Politico article titled “Democrats grapple uncomfortably with World Cup success” lists examples of Democrats praising the World Cup’s success. Mr. Wren’s main issue seems to be that they aren’t “praising the authorities who put on the event”, and then he gives an example of a Philadelphia Democrat doing exactly that. How…. Interesting.

This is great but can we discuss the Supreme Court ending our country a few days before our 250th birthday? Basically, they told us that we don't get to have a country and these borders are just for defining tax zones.

Because they're losers in their own lives.

America the modern version of Ancient Rome

Calm down, 1:16, SCOTUS just interpreted the law as written. It’s up to Congress to take action so that rules catch up to current conditions. If they don’t, then yes we are screwed, but it will be on Congress, not SCOTUS.

Do you mean the Supreme Court upholding centuries of legal precedent that we inherited from the British legal system, the larger context of the Fourteenth Amendment as debated in Congress, not to mention what has been interpreted as the meaning of said amendment since it was ratified? Furthermore, even though he did dissent, Justice Gorsuch did suggest in the closing paragraph of his opinion that there may be parts of the executive order that did clash with the law as written. This conservative is proud that the Supreme Court has preserved and conserved the rule of law in this case just in time for our 250th birthday. And on the contrary, if the Executive can run roughshod over our laws, then that will be the ending of our country. Happy 250, here is to 250 more!

I'm not really sure what they're trying to say here? I'm guessing the Trump administration had little to nothing to do with host cities prepping for or administering the World Cup, and the vast majority of cities who are hosting are run by democratic administrations. Why can't success just be good for the country without the political posturing.

Thank you 1:50 pm, well said. I was headed that way, although probably not as eloquently as you did it, when I ran upon your response.

These fools that think everything they read on TS or hear out of his mouth is an absolute fail to realize that true conservatives are supporters of the rule of law, not of man. Whether one "likes" birthright citizenship in today's world is not the question. If it should be changed the proper way is for Congress to address it through an Amendment to our sacred 250 year old constitution. Not for a court to do so. We have railed against activist judges who have tried to write the laws rather than read them, but now when we have judges who perform their function properly, some are railing against them because they won't rewrite the law from the bench.

As a good, lifelong conservative, I support Justice Scalia's comments that any judge who always likes his opinions is not making good decisions.

Justice Kavanaugh's concurrence is the roadmap for Congress to follow

Oh please. It was always going to be a tough case to win. The language in the amendment is pretty plain. Yes, we all know why it was written but what matters is the plain language, which is pretty unambiguous. Congress can fix some of the problem. Government can still ban illegal immigration and deport.

While Burke clung to tradition he was not belligerent to change. Burke opposed aliens and sought cautious naturalization.

I truly doubt those who debated and voted upon the 14th amendment remotely foresaw the rampant abuse and outright corruption of birthright citizenship as we've experienced over the past 50+ years.

Enjoy your tradition even when it produces our national undoing.

I have enjoyed reading what the visitors have posted. Its been so much fun seeing things through their eyes. Glad they are having a great time.

@You say MAMdani, I say MamDANI

I once heard it said that “disappointment and frustration with the legislative process does not create a judicial right to relief.” We have a process in place to change the Constitution. It is not the responsibility of the Executive nor the Judiciary to legislate, it is the responsibility of the Legislative Branch. If one believes that the way the Fourteenth Amendment is written will be disastrous for the nation, then one must change the Fourteenth Amendment through the process laid out by the Constitution. Burke was indeed not belligerent to change, but he was very belligerent to radical change as per his writings in Reflections on the Revolution in France. Civil society rests on inherited convention and legislative, judicial, and executive power are built on constitutional order.

I'm a Democrat and am happy the World Cup is doing well. Most people around the world admire much about our country. Most think Trump is a disaster. It is that simple.

lol 90% of the compliments were Europoors posting tiktok clips about how everywhere is air conditioned and the enormous portion sizes of our food. It could be taken as mocking the average, sweaty American fatass

I live in Thomastown MS & some few yrs back there was an English couple eating lunch @ Ms Dee's cafe here. I heard them say they had never heard of Pecan Pie & I bought them some. I then asked the man if he wanted to do some things he couldn't do at home? He asked like what? So, we went to my house & I got my grand dad's old .30 Carbine out & we fired a couple hundred rounds off down by the creek. I swear that boy had a permanent smile on his face! It saddens me to think that now he could be jailed if his government found out about it. We are so Blessed to live here!

No one wants to join the military like in the past because of woke policies. Why would anyone want to fight for a country that’s gone woke

The left doesn't believe in any of that shit and runs roughshod over every conservative who believes as you do.

If the Eurofans were not poor before they came, they will be when they get home. Spending a grande per day takes a toll. I spent under $5/day when I backpacked through most of Europe.

If you are looking for Edmund Burke's actual thoughts on collective action and responsibility, he expressed a concept regarding the necessity of association against wrongdoers in his 1770 work, Thoughts on the Cause of the Present Discontents: "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, in an unpitied sacrifice, in a contemptible struggle."

Oh, and no one in America gives a shit about soccer.

Anonymous said...

@5:10 - I give a shit about soccer, but I guess not everyone can be a sports guy. Enjoy the internet.

Behold the power of artificial intelligence! 5:10, who had never heard of Edmund Burke, used Ai to craft a response about him in order to leave an insult about soccer. He apparently is one of those mouth breathers who worships the medieval sport of American football, in which most of the participants’ “athletic ability” consists of being obese.

Which makes it doubly worse when supposed fellow members of the right do the same. It is the undoing of a nation when this happens.

@July 1, 2026 at 5:10 AM

I wholeheartedly agree. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of good men in this day and age and evil is prevalent on all sides. To quote Alexander Solzhenitsyn, “If only it were so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”

Futbol haters are non-athletic imbeciles. I've participated in eight sports, from swimming to snow skiing to soccer and have respect and a keen, intense interest in the World Cup every 4 years, as do many Americans.

Air conditioning is a life/death requirement in the south. People die from the heat. See tragic news report that happened Saturday. https://www.wlbt.com/2026/07/01/heat-death-83-year-old-woman-prompts-warning-husband-doctor/

The evil that is prevalent on all sides today, is being identified more than at any other time in history. And when they are cut out, it will be Biblical. Might be next month, or 20+ years from now - but it's coming.

I'm sure that's what you're hearing, in your Senior Men's Sunday School class, and while listening to late night AM Radio "podcasts". More likely, are the incessant TV ads showing horribly-mutilated soldiers - while begging for money, to help them. Even a slow child will wonder why the government isn't providing that money - when it seems able to throw money at everything else (including importing hordes of undesirables - many of which are being recruited into the military - providing further incentive for Americans to NOT join. Kids don't care about "Woke" (no matter how many panderers tell you about the Charlie-Kirk-style "Faith Surge" among the young).

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
