Mississippi's annual PGA tournament is no more. The PGA issued the 2026 fall schedule today.
Sanderson Farms stopped sponsoring the tournament after 2025. The tournament was unable to find a new title sponsor.
All good things come to an end. It's a shame to see this one join Crechales on the dustbin of history.

Don’t let the door hit you on your azz on the way out? BYE!
Ound to happen after the sale of Sanderson Farms to yankees.
It’s certainly sad, but we have to remember we are a small town in a small state, so be glad we had it in the first place. It was always a fun event.
Had a great run. From Hattiesburg to Annandale to JCC. Went to many at each and saw some great golf….my favorite being Davis Love 3 in Hattiesburg in 1980s.
Larger Companies and Private Equity keep swallowing up Mississippi corporations and we just don't have many left headquartered here. It could have been the HORNE championship, but they were just bought by BDO. Cspire is the only other Jackson metro option really or Cal-Maine. It's hard to beg for a sponsorship at an already small tournament.
This was a poorly run event. Nobody cares.
It lasted 12 years longer than anybody thought it would. But the Krystal Fine Dining Spot at the corner of Old Canton and County Line made a killing for years, even though unruly customers with alligators on their golf shirts made off with all the grape jelly.
I felt sure Cspire would pick it up. Especially after seeing a number of SEC football coaches wearing Cspire headsets.
Moving it to the JCC putt putt course was a huge unforced and fatal error.
This is just so "Mississippi"
C-spire is having a tough time telling its head from its ass. They can't be bothered with sponsorships. Too many cousins in high places.
Ever since they left Annandale for the "city of Jackson", the writing was on the wall and people did not come. Annandale was wall to wall people. CCJ was empty. Hmmmm.
@7:20pm Not true, it was always run well for how small it was. If you don’t care then scroll past.
@7:36 Agreed. I believe the title sponsorship costs several million, maybe 10? So it could just be too much for one weekend event.
Golf is just fetch without the dog.
@ 7:13 - while not quite on the subject of the PGA, I beg to differ as to the number of private companies 'left'. Yes, just as everywhere else, private equity groups and larger companies are as you say "swallowing up" Mississippi companies, but there are more, per capita, large privately held, largely family based, billion dollar companies in our state than in others.
Besides CSpire and Cal-Maine that you mention (noting that Cal-Maine is much much larger in their industry than most around here recognize) there are Ergon, Taylor Machine, Yates Companies, Southern Tire Mart and KLLM, Peavey Electronics, Southern Motion just to name a few, I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of. And, among banks, Cadence, Trustmark, Hancock all are still home based in Mississippi and while not 'family owned' they otherwise fit in this category.
7pm Hard to know if you are being funny or whatever but there is a lot truth in that. The world is a big place and our state ain't. Our population is about the size of the Orlando metro area. Denver metro area is bigger and Minneapolis is bigger by a third. Sporting events like the PGA deal, concerts (except Bush, of course), cultural happenings--they just get more bang for their buck elsewhere.
After asking for volunteers, then saying it's going to cost you $75 to volunteer was a little much. Even the stuff in their "swag bag" wasn't worth it.
I didn't know Sanderson had sold. At least the family won't have to worry about ICE any longer.
The pros LOVED the greens, said they were some of best on tour.
The constant negative comments by Mississippians on websites about how " unsafe" Jackson is didn't help. Worse, it's a false claim especially when it comes ignores that northeast Jackson is NOT crime ridden. We suffer the ability of our ignorant rednecks having a loud voice on an internet that thrives on negativity!
Investing a significant amount of money as a title sponsor is challenging because it typically requires a national brand for the investment to make sense. Unfortunately, we have very few, if any, corporate headquarters with national brands in our State.
Sad news. The tournament gave almost two million a year to MS charities. That will be missed.
I was privileged to volunteer when it was the Farm Bureau. Worked the “island” on 17 at Annandale. Fun times.
Maybe one of the big datacenter corps will pick it back up in the coming years. At least it will make them have one upside to being here.
Amazon should sponsor it since Mississippi is becoming the data center capital of the world.
How hard did they try? What about Nissan, Milwaukee Tool, or Continental Tire? What about M-Bar, Pop's Lounge, or the Daiquiri Bar?
That's rough and not a very fair way to do business.
Georgia Yankees?
On a related note:
Multiple implications flying under the radar:

Southerners will screw you just as fast as a yankee
Golf is boring
Amen. The negative comments, from folks who probably have never been in Jackson except for passing through on the interstates, are totally out of touch with reality and ignores the geography of Jackson.
You can spin this any way you want, but Jackson is crime ridden. Maybe the property around the CCJ is safe, but not the hotel/restaurant properties.
Duff brothers and their Multiple companies 💰 Great way for Tom to kick off his governor run.
The definition of "NE Jackson" keeps getting smaller and smaller. Before long it will be about 1/4 square mile.
Ignores the geography? You don't even know what you are talking about.
This makes more sense than any post on this thread.
And those companies are successful because they don’t spend millions on a professional golf tournament that makes no difference to their markets.
Infrastructure around CCJ is not in great shape. CCJ course is not notable & tournament support/attendance less than needed.
Are you serious. Maybe Ms Human Services TANF program 😡😡
They didnt.
How much does Mississippi really want national events? Not so much. We are the last battleground of the civil war. Everybody knows that.
I saw last year's TV commercial for the tournament. Are THOSE scary-looking guys the Georgia Yankees? (and yes, Virginia, there ARE Yankees in Georgia. Apologies to Aunt Pittypat, too: Yankees DID get in.) You know - the setting is a small, cheap-looking office, and there are three guys. The scariest of the three, is trying to sneak out and play golf or something. Frat Rats DO, sometimes, get hooked on meth, and that's what they looked like, to me. Or, maybe it's a cumulative effect: decades of sun damage plus decades of fratty boozing and maybe cigs. Those guys looked ROUGH.
I'm hearing the taste of the chicken changed, immediately after the ownership change. ...was sent video of someone's barn cat arching its back, and refusing to eat scraps of the new chicken. Whatever the poor chooks are being fed, now, their fat tastes awful.
@11:37pm I am 7:13pm and we are on the same page. I wasn’t insinuating that we don’t have anything I was just saying as we lose our companies it is harder to find sponsors for a small event like this. We definitely punch above out weight with banks and construction companies in MS. Renasant in Tupelo could have been another option.
@3:01 - We are afraid to venture out into our own communities...Who would feel comfortable inviting 1600 strangers in?
Speaking of "National Events", think, for a minute about Cruising The Coast with a hundred thousand pockets coming to town for most of a week. Wonder what it is about this area. What's different? Must be that 'Civil War' thing. That's it.
I think y’all are forgetting Providence Hill hosted the United States Open this past summer for the first time, something like 1500 shooters coming to Jackson, Mississippi.
We will always have the zoo
So sad. I know what I will do to get over this- I’m going to Take A Day.
@8:01 What world do you live in? Or better yet, what is your definition of NE Jackson or crime?
Like the IBC...this tourney is a national recognition/event and something the State should have FOUGHT to retain. What is the Governor's response KF?
I like this idea, 9:04. They have the pockets for certain!
There is no return on investment sponsoring a golf tournament in Mississippi.
“Wild Hog Wrestling “ fits the demographics better.
Both Duffs are billionaires. They're on an entirely different plane from those among us who, whatever we do, it's for personal gain or political/racial reasons or to spite someone else.
