Nothing like a homemade fire to keep one warm......
Over on Commerce Street. Called JPD but of course, JPD said call Capitol Police. Thank goodness a robbery or murder wasn't taking place.

He’s keeping his dog warm
Lit him keep his fire to stay warm
Is he cooking
Would hate for this person to become a statistic, someone should point him/her to a shelter for a few days.
He needs one that accepts dogs. He has a dog
Literally burning stuff on the safest surface possible. That concrete slab isn’t really combustible. Better than a burn barrel inside an abandoned building.
It was around 60 degrees when picture was taken.
today at the northside drive and frontage road a JPD cruiser was at the light and i car doing about 75 blew thru the redlight right in front of him. he did nothing.
The whole of Jackson in 30 years.
I agree
“A few could see I was struggling and a couple even stopped to lend a hand, most passed me by with ridicule and failed to recognize a fellow man”. Billy Strings
I actually drove on Ellis Ave up to West Capital last week. Somebody had a burn barrel in their front yard burning stuff.
Just let them be. It seems like it’s on a concrete block and it’s wet all over. Likelihood of it catching other stuff on fire is minimal to none.
He could stay at your house
Never go thru a light in Jackson when it turns green until everyone else stops - and even then watch.
Will the last person leaving Jackson please turn out the lights?
He probably was not allowed to enter a shelter because of his dog. Give it a break people, he and his dog will be fine and there will be no harm to any community around here. Travel to LA like I've done recently and be glad we don't have the "unhoused" problems they have. It was hard to believe I was seeing what was before me.
If you can give shoes, non perishable food, cloths etc or a little funding to Shower Power, they are the real deal and they are making a difference even though it's tough.
I love the Billy Strings quote. If I were homeless and needed to build a fire (ik 60 degrees) a vacant pad like the one in the photo would feel like a blessing.
