Suspect son of Derrick Coleman, brother of Ladarien Jones
The Madison Police Department issued the following statement.

| Dunta and Darrius Palmer |
On January 30, 2026, shortly after 2 p.m., officers with the Madison Police Department encountered a white 2017 Dodge Challenger with a Mississippi license plate. Surrounding agencies had been requested to be on the lookout for this vehicle related to other crimes in the area. The Madison officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which was occupied by two black males, on Old Canton Road near Ridgecrest Drive.
The Challenger stopped at the entrance to Hite Walcott Park, and when officers approached the vehicle, the Challenger accelerated into the path of oncoming traffic. Before the officer was able to clear himself from the path of the vehicle, the officer then fired his service weapon while removing himself from the vehicle’s path. The Challenger then sped away before being blocked in by other responding units. The Challenger came to a final rest before entering Highway 51 and McLellan Drive, and both occupants were taken into custody without further incident.
A Madison officer was injured during the arrest of both suspects and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. During the arrest of both suspects, a firearm was discovered in the front right pocket of the passenger, and another firearm was located in the driver’s floorboard.
Due to the officer-involved shooting, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, as well as the Ridgeland Police Department, responded to the scene to conduct their own independent investigation. During the course of the investigation, investigators with the Madison Police Department were able to determine that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Helena, Alabama.
The driver was identified as Dunta Demon Palmer, age 30, of Jackson, MS, and the passenger was identified as Darrius Jerrell Palmer, age 24, of Jackson, MS. Both suspects were transported to local hospitals, where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Once they are released from the hospital, both suspects will be transported to the Madison Police Department for booking.
Dunta Demon Palmer is being charged with felony fleeing, felony receiving stolen property, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Darrius Jerrell Palmer is being charged with receiving stolen property. More charges are expected after the completion of the investigation. After being booked in, both suspects will be transported to the Madison County Detention Center as they await their initial appearance in the City of Madison Municipal Court. Their cases will be forwarded to the Madison/Rankin District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Kingfish note: The car was stolen.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Dunta for grand larceny in 2021. He was allowed to enter a pre-trial diversion program.
Dunta Palmer is the son of Derrick Coleman. Coleman was the husband of Latasha Coleman. The word "was" was used because Latasha Crump Coleman disappeared 2 1/2 years ago. Derrick was a suspect in her disappearance. She is feared to be dead. Earlier post.
Derrick Coleman was killed in a shootout on McDowell Road in July 2024. However, the Coleman family violence does not end with Derrick or Dunta.
Dunta has a half-brother, Ladarien Tyrese Jones. Sound familiar? Jones is charged with the murder of Hinds County Deputy James Dotson last year. A Hinds County grand jury indicted Jones for first-degree murder in 2018 but Jones received a blessing. Earlier post.
The case was continued for no less than six years until Hinds County Circuit Judge Adrienne Wooten issued a directed verdict for acquittal to Jones before the case could go to the jury in February 2024.

Two thugs packing heat in a stolen Challenger. What could possibly go wrong?
Book 'em Danno.
Another mostly peaceful pair of 2nd Amendment supporting millennials inspired by the late Ms. Good while playing Grand Theft Auto IRL. Why did the officer have to shoot? Couldn’t he have stopped for a moment and asked the two yutes to hold hands with him and join in singing “Lean on Me”. Fire him, dox him, It’s all Mary’s fault.
What he Dunta deserve being shot at and throwed in jail?
So the guys middle name is actually “Demon”? Probably pronounced “d-moan” but still. WTF.
BigMama told them fools to not leave Hinds County. Naw they didn’t listen!
If they were in a nice Honda or Volkswagen they would not be stopped. But naw these idoits were driving a Challenger, windows with illegal tint, tag covered, no insurance and radio blasting. If they jumped out the car to run from police, they would not get far because they would be holding their pants up because of no belt! Now wonder these fools were stopped and easily apprehended!
Are they from Jackson?
Read the press release. Word for word. We don't do welfare on this site.
Now I need a hip hop version of “Just some good ole boys
Never meanin’ no harm…”
Just don’t leave the keys in your Charger
I'm sorry the two thugs just had non life threatening injuries.
That family is rotten to the core, but keep getting blessings from the Jackson injustice system.
Excellent commentary and info KF..!
Thee Culture of Jackson, MS
You just can’t make this shit up. No one would believe it.
Gven the circumstances it seems like these criminals definitely earned what the police dunta them!
Am I waiting in vain to see Wooten’s name in one of these Owens bribery case exhibits?
$50 days it was a shitty automatic transmission V6 Challenger. Like a woman’s car 😂
Bodie, California, widely considered the wildest and most dangerous town, often described as "hell on earth" during its 1870s-1880s mining peak, with up to 70 shootings and 30 murders reported in just a few years. Other notable contenders include Tombstone, Arizona, Dodge City, Kansas, and Palisade, Nevada.
None of those towns hold a candle to modern-day Jackson. While researching for this post, I read that one 12 year old girl wrote in her diary, "Goodbye God, I'm going to Bodie".
Dodge Challenger - OFFICIAL AUTOMOBILE OF SUBSIDIZED HOUSING
Is that a tracheostomy?
Now the question is did Derrick tell either of his spawn any information about what happened to his wife.
Melatonin.
KF is up to his eyebrows in knowledge of Jackson criminal minded characters. Imagine trying to sleep through the night with his mind in your head.
7:22pm
30 & 24, not "yutes".
Dang KF you must be using ancestry to trace all this family lineage.
These two fellas never had a chance in life. Probably got brain damaged as babies from being knocked upside the head too often before their skull developed. Pretty common in the culture.
They never learn to stay out of Ridgeland and Madison. It will never be good for them.
A family that kills together stays together.
Are these people with surnames Coleman or Jones connected to any current or former elected officials?
@9:21
seriously? you totally missed the opportunity to post The family that slays together
As I've said before, if 'Demon' or 'Shun' are in the name, consider yourself WARNED!
So the challenger was stolen from Alabama yet had a Mississippi tag. I’m wondering whether the tag was stolen or if an extraneous fee was paid to someone in the tax collectors office.
So society suffers again because A. Wooten is a completely incompetent moron or just a corrupt one. I find it telling of ppl when they post on here defending her lol
9:17 Exactly! It just amazes me how these young men continue to slither into surrounding counties and think they will get the same treatment by Law Enforcement and the Judicial System as they have in Hinds County all while driving dirty and committing crimes. How stupid are You, you stand out, you’re noticed! You’re suspicious!
*driving dirty- no license, insurance, tag covered, illegal tint, marijuana smell, illegal firearms/ felon with firearms, seats lounging, loud music, looking out of place in environment.
The surrounding counties are the reason crime is going down in the Jackson because they are prosecuting and incarcerating these fools.
It looks like the one on the right has a tracheotomy with a tube in it.
That height chart down to the PD is also a dart board.
@7:47 Dodge Challenger 2nd place, Dodge Charger the winner. However we all know who drives both of these cars.
It's a shame. Chryslers and Dodges used to be respectable automobiles owned by respectable people who maintained a respectable culture and who lived in respectable towns and cities.
My car-awareness only goes back to maybe '72, and I'm from a rural slum, where nobody was respectable - and we seldom had a TV, since my mom could trade those for cigs and drugs, when a john would bring her one. But once I made it out into the world, I quickly discerned that Chrysler products were for people who had something wrong with them.
GM was for Nice People with money in the bank. Ford products - even Lincolns - were for people with bad credit. Chryslers were for dorky people - stocky men with crew cuts - women whose clothes fit them funny - boys who ended up as 'plant engineers' (drove 'cudas) - people whose Christian sects had sided with Hitler (and who also bought Volkswagens and other Third Axis cars, long that became unavoidable and thus OK to do).
One friend's 'Aunt Veronica' had "...a New Yorker which looked just like a Pterodactyl". She'd been a spectacular '50s beauty - looked just like the 'Black Dahlia Girl'. But her penchant for Caramel Cakes, Coca Colas, and Cigarettes, made her brain vulnerable to Mississippi's deadly summers, and so got her shipped-off for shock treatments, when undiagnosed Type 2 Diabetes sent her into a fit, one sweltering Delta morning - shooting under the church, at the preacher's wife who'd been availing herself of Veronica's husband's attentions.
"Treatment" completed, and with her awful husband dead, Veronica bought a new New Yorker, and a sable coat. Greenville's gossipy merchants loved telling about that Sable. Veronica had hesitated, and in her Thorazine drawl (a deepening of her 'Born in Bastrop Drawl'), said, "I understand Sables are from Russia, and I don't want to buy anything communistic." (upon reassurances that Sables had no political leanings, whatsoever, she completed the purchase).
Someone else's big, bellowing fool of an uncle, drove Dodges. His "dad", from a Central European nation where Hitler was worshiped - despite Nazi plans to enslave-&-exterminate that nation - drove a Chrysler Windsor. "Dad" AND son would sit outside, in shiny black shoes, black "slacks", and white teeshirts, drinking beer and smoking cigs. "...in Mississippi, where they stood out like sore thumbs! Well, if he hadn't knocked-up Aunt Celeste, at Ole Miss, those things would NOT be in our family! And the DORKMOBILES those two drove!"
I saw these yahoos driving around that area of Madison hours before this. They were stalking homes, I assume, to see who comes and goes throughout the day. I took pictures and stored in case.
