U.S. Marshals arrested Jshontiez McClendon for shooting several people at Pop's Saloon early New Year's Day this year. Unfortunately for Pops patrons, McClendon was free on bond after JPD charged him with shooting to death a mother and her unborn child two years ago. Catch & Release is indeed alive and well in Jackson.
A fight broke out at Pop's Saloon in the early morning hours of New Year's Day this year. The two combatants were not satisfied with just hitting each other as they both pulled out pistols (allegedly) and started trying to shoot each other. The word "trying" is used because they missed each other and wounded four other people.
The U.S. Marshals grabbed Kevari Archie last week. JPD charged him with two counts of aggravated assault. A Jackson Municipal Court judge set his bond at $500,000.
Speaking of bonds, McClendon was already free on bond for not one but two counts of murder.

The Hinds County grand jury indicted McClendon in July 2023 for murder, drive-by shooting, and shooting into a vehicle. The indictment charges the defendant:

Count III charges McClendon with shooting at Anderson's Altima while he was in a vehicle and Count IV charges him with shooting into Anderson's car.
Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels denied McClendon bond when JPD arrested him in June 2023. However, Hinds County Circuit Judge Debra Gibbs had other ideas.
Judge Gibbs held a bond hearing for McClendon in October 2023 and set his bond at a whopping $500,000 for the two murders. McClendon posted bond and was back on the street where he was free to shoot again and again he allegedly did New Year's Eve last year.

Attorney Warren Martin represents McClendon.
McClendon has not yet had his initial appearance in Jackson Municipal Court for the (presumably) aggravated assault charges.

Another Gibbs failure. Someone run against her please, anyone.
But Judge Gibbs always dresses so nice, real stylish. That's what counts.
The Hinds County Judicial System never disappoints-
I don't understand why residents tolerate the horrible Judicial system in Jackson.
But I am eternally thankful I live in an area that does not cater to convicts over victims.
That pic is 20 years old
This guy is in his early 20s, does he have a good paying job to afford the $50k? Maybe owns some real estate to put up as security or did someone help him out?
Can we get an update on the other McClendon allegedly arrested for the murder of Keyunta McWilliams, his name is Jmarquiez McClendon?
Are they cousins or brothers?
This is nothing new and has always been the culture. It’s why we had all those mean laws before the 60s. Laws are racist n shit. Didn’t yall know?
How in the fuck does Tate Reeves not say anything about Gibbs? Maybe he can't DO anything but my gosh please start talking about it. Desantis would be raising hell!
Yeh those laws you mean. I remember 3 guys got killed in Neshoba County in 1964 and the state of Mississippi didn’t convict anybody until 2005! Didn’t even try. You probably aren’t talking about those racist laws are you?
See: HCR 16. Price Wallace’s bill for a constitutional amendment to prevent unsecured judicial release/bonds for felony charges.
Where’s Charles Bronson when you need him?
Paul and Wildey to the rescue!
He is. And that has not always been the culture. It started with that great society thing that made everything so much worse for everyone.
