JPD issued the following statement.
On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at approximately 2115 hours, Precinct 3 officers responded to a home in the 300 block of Queen Alexandria Land in reference to a person being shot. Officers arrived at the scene and found three gunshot victims; 26-y/o Keyana Weathersby, her sister 30-y/o Erica Weathersby and 2-y/o Cameri Givens Keyana Weathersby’s son. All three victims had been shot multiple times, and each had succumbed to their injuries.
On June 29, 2026, 28-year-old Cornelius Carter was arrested and charged with Capital Murder and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm and 28-year-old Jordan Carter, (no relation) was arrested and charged with Capital Murder. Both appeared before a Municipal Court Judge, and each were denied bond. On Wednesday June 30, 2026, a third suspect, 25-year-old Mikala Young, was arrested and charged with Capital Murder. She appeared before a Municipal Court Judge today, July 1, 2026, and was also denied bond.

It's sad but until this Jackson society realizes that if you play with fire you get burned. Most of these tragedies are a result of chosen lifestyles with unfavorable outcomes. We can't police ourselves out of this kind of behavior.

Until people start policing their own communities and stop relying on the police to catch offenders without their help violent crime is just going to get worse in certain areas.
