Rankin-Madison District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement.
Madison and Rankin Counties' District Attorney John K. “Bubba” Bramlett, Jr., announced today that 39-year-old James Kenneth McManus, Jr., of Florence, Mississippi, has pled guilty to Aggravated Domestic Violence and was sentenced to serve twenty (20) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The sentence was handed down in the Circuit Court of Rankin County on May 11, 2026. The charges stem from an incident on that afternoon of September 29, 2025, when the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call regarding an active domestic disturbance at a residence in Florence. The victim reported that McManus was attempting to break into the home.![]() |

Responding deputies from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Florence
Police Department quickly arrived at the scene and intercepted McManus. The subsequent
investigation revealed that McManus had forced entry into the residence and violently strangled
the victim, with whom he was in a dating relationship. McManus was arrested on-site and
transported to the Rankin County Jail.
District Attorney Bubba Bramlett praised the swift and coordinated response of local law
enforcement: “Domestic violence situations are incredibly volatile and represent some of the most
dangerous calls our officers face. Thanks to the rapid response and decisive actions of the Rankin
County Sheriff's Office and the Florence Police Department, this dangerous encounter was quickly
brought to an end, and the suspect was taken into custody before further harm could occur.” This
case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Greta Harris.
Bramlett added, “Our office remains fully committed to holding perpetrators of domestic abuse
accountable. Violence of this nature will not be tolerated in our communities, and we will continue
to work tirelessly alongside law enforcement to ensure victims receive justice and that violent
offenders face significant prison time.”

Originally there was the "Boston Strangler" and now Mississippi has their own "Florence Strangler." This news has me all choked up.
Film worthy visage, neck tats intense.
A woman desperate enough to ever entertain this character needs alternatives.
"McManus had forced entry into the residence and violently strangled the victim, with whom he was in a dating relationship." Based on his photo I wonder what sorta catch she looks like.
