Mykalia Jolley will spend the rest of her life behind bars after she pleaded guilty in Rankin County Circuit Court to capital murder in the death of her baby in May 2022.

A Rankin County grand jury indicted Makaylia Jolley for capital murder for the death of her eight-week old baby, Khalysie Lashay Jolley on December 8. The indictment states:
on or about May 12, 2022, in the county aforesaid and within the jurisdiction of this Court, did willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously, without authority of law and with or without any design to effect death, kill and murder Khalysie Lashay Jolley, a human being, while the said MAKA YLIA SHAYLYNN JOLLEY was then and there engaged in the commission of the crime of Felony Child Abuse and or Battery, in violation Miss. Code Ann. § 97-5- 39(2), (1972, as amended), and in violation of Miss. Code Ann.§ 97-3-19(2)(f), (1972, as amended), and being against the peace and dignity of the State of Mississippi.Several witnesses called Pearl police on the afternoon of May 12 to report a young woman "repeatedly and forcibly" threw her baby on the roadway at 775 North Biederman Road. Police found another woman holding the severely injured baby. The defendant had fled into some nearby woods but police apprehended her after a brief pursuit.
A subdued Pearl Police Chief Dean Scott said at a May 12 press conference "due to her injuries, there is a very bleak outcome. Her injuries are too severe to even attempt to treat." Little Khalysie's internal organs soon shut down and her suffering mercifully ended.
Circuit Judge Steven Ratcliff sentenced her to serve life without chance of parole.

I have tears typing this while seeing this precious baby. How could anyone do this to their baby? The world is full of evil. RIP little one.

So was she high on drugs? If a clear mental eval, what in the world... Sad

If a mental evaluation cleared her indicating she was aware of her actions......
then based on what happened with this crime this lady should have gotten the death penalty, a quick death penalty within a year or two......

May God grant some level of peace to the good samaritan that stopped and held that baby.
I cannot fathom the pain that stranger dealt with, seeing the depravity first hand.
I don't understand why so many humans are evil.
I will pray for the person that held that innocent baby as she died.
The trauma that good samaritan witnessed is unfathomable and I hope she seeks therapy for her pain as well.
And all state taxpayers will be on the hook as long as she lives. How old was Charles Manson when he died? 83?
I will never understand what makes a human want to kill another human unless they feel their life is threatened. A sweet and innocent and lovely child just brutally killed.
Postpartum depression doesn't usually last a long time and is easily treated if recognized.
Postpartum psychosis is more serious. Older mothers and those with bipolar or other psychiatric problems are more at risk.
IF she was " cleared", it should have been the first, but killing a child in such a violent manner would make that highly unusual.
It reads more like postpartum psychosis and a psychotic episode. Not all psychosis can be treated effectively.
In humane times a few decades ago, even with psychosis if treatable, she'd be in Whitfield where staff would be certain she took her medication each day. She would likely be working on the grounds productively...gardening, taught to aide in maintenance of the facility and grounds or record keeping. She would be free labor at Whitfield based on skills.
Instead, she will likely be a pariah in prison and treated brutally. If ever released or were she to escape, she will be a danger to others the minute her meds wear off or she hides them and doesn't take them. She might kill another prisoner whose there for a financial crime or repeated drunk driving tickets.
Sadist of all to me, and most puzzling, is why did NO ONE notice her symptoms or the warnings in how she interacted with her baby?
Even LONG AGO, nurses were taught to watch how mothers interacted with their babies. There are clear warning signs. The mother never isn't looking affectionately at the baby. She is not holding the baby close. She doesn't respond to the baby's cries with concern or the need to comfort. She doesn't want to feed or change the baby, she'd rather others do it.
We need to only elect DAs that will get death penalties for these types of crimes.
Hopefully her fellow inmates do us taxpayers a favor and see to it we don’t have to provide for her very long.
Before folks start chiming in with, "we have a mental health crisis in the county," yes we all know that. The problem is a person can't be forced to get help and it is very difficult to have some involuntary committed. We had institutions at one time to warehouse these folks, but society, courts and politicians judged them too barbaric. Sure abuses went on, but by shuttering them, we are now dealing with the aftermath.

With wonder, I contemplated how that within one person was the ability to produce such beauty, such a marvel, as that beautiful baby girl in that picture.
In the same person, that gave life, there rose such anger, such savage intent, and action, that that person took the life of their beautiful baby girl. She gave life, and she took the same life back. My GOD, have mercy on her, and grant her repentance.

I've seen a lot of bad shit. And I mean a lot. But this horrifies me beyond comprehension.

Maybe its because justice was served. In a civilized society some of us let justice prevail and once it does we see no reason to keep stirring things up while looking for a card to pull out.

I had/have no idea what her race is. White or black, nothing can excuse or explain this act of hers. Nor can it be explained why society should maintain her body functions while keeping her alive. I see no reason she should not be punished by death withing two years.

7:39 - that's simply your interpretation. My interpretation, for over sixty years, has been that a 'come to Jesus' meeting or moment can occur at any point in time and often. I suggest you have a 'come to Jesus moment' and realize it ain't up to you.
