Uvalde "Police" Threaten Hero Mom for Talking to Media

Disgusting is the word that immediately comes to mind when reading how Uvalde "Police"* threatened to charge a mother who rescued her children for talking to the media.  The Daily Mail reported:

A mom who was handcuffed by cops for trying to save her children during the Texas school shooting has blasted police for threatening her for talking to the media.

Angeli Rose Gomez slammed officers for warning her with a probation violation for obstruction of justice over her interviews with journalists.

She said she was called by an officer who said she would be hit with legal trouble over a charge against her from over a decade ago....

Gomez said she was able to convince a Uvalde officer whom she knew to have the marshal free her and she took the opportunity to move away from the crowd, jump the school fence, and ran inside the school where she rescued her children herself.

She said that other parents also trying to get to their kids were tackled and even pepper-sprayed by police.

Gomez added that when she was inside the school looking for her kids and instructing others to flee from the direction she entered, there where still gunshots being fired despite Arredondo's belief that the shooter was already barricaded alone inside a room when police arrived. ... Rest of article.

Among other things that make you go hmmm, the Border Patrol agent who rescued his own child when he heard about the massacre while getting his haircut says the cops were "suited up" when he arrived.  CNN's Shimon Prokupecz tweeted:

Even more questions after this mornings interview on the Today show with the CBP agent who was off duty and went to rescue his daughter and wife at Robb Elementary. He said he was near the door where gunman was while searching for his daughter. Saw officers with their “gear”on.

Here’s the full quote: “I was there at the door fixing to go in, but once again, I didn't have any of my gear. It wouldn't be it wouldn't have been a smart move for me. All those guys had their gear and stuff.”

This appears to be early on because he is still searching for his daughter and before the CBP tactical teams arrived.

Kingfish note: JJ was able to obtain a picture of the Uvalde "Police" Department as the massacre took place.

* Quotation marks will always be used with Uvalde's "Police" Department as it is not a legitimate police department.

First, police generally do a great job and we should support them. But, until recently many people have failed to acknowledge a the most critical aspect of police culture... CYA "cover your ass" Sometimes police do take it too far.

DISGUSTING! COWARDICE! How can this happen in one of the most cowboy gun toting bravado states! Lawsuits cometh.

Attn 10:59 Law suits don’t return lives. The fact that this is your thought process tells a Lot about you.

Cop worship in this country is almost cult like. Anyone that has a thin blue line/Punisher sticker on their vehicle should be roundly mocked and shunned.

How can Arrendo live with himself? He has a last chance to do an honorable thing.

There is more to the story, don’t believe everything the fake news is making it appear! The woman was no where near the actual shooter! If you listen to her account you can glean those facts! With that said there still are a lot of questions on the conduct of the police’

@1:15 PM we certainly can't believe everything that we read on the internet, and that includes you, bucko.

Tell us the rest of the story, are you an eyewitness?

It must really burn your ass that this woman went into that school for her children. Why do I say this? The first thing you do is attack the credibility of the woman's story. Ain't you a piece of work.

"threatened to charge a mother who rescued her children for talking to the media." I'm a cop, not from Uvalde or anywhere in Texas, but I really don't think this would stick and that they were just doing that, threatening her, thinking she'd back off. They, my brother cops, will get over it. I will add that ever since Michael Brown in Mo, I have seen many of my kind backing off (CYA) in situations where in the past it used to be balls to the wall. Would I try to stop a civilian from trying to get their kids out during gunfire, yes, but I understand the desire of a parent trying to do so. Would I use pepper spray or Taser, absolutely not. Not an easy thing either way you look at it.

All the "support the blue" people got quiet all of a sudden. That's the world we live in. Kinda like the fans pleading with Ole Miss last year to extend Bianco.

What?
Some of you now understand that not all law enforcement is properly trained , smart enough, or suited for the job?
Never noticed that some departments seem to have a lot of relative hires or are relatives of city, county or State officials?

Oh, be still my heart! You've emerged from your cave!

I never expected you to learn about Tammany Hall when Teddy was Prez. in school...that was likely banned ( can't have us thinking ill of our past corruption or violence), but hooray!

I wonder if the border patrol agent was also threatened with arrest for doing interviews with the media. It’s a whole new level of cowardice when hearing your actions reported on tv makes you want to arrest the decent people who did the right thing. The thin yellow line has got to end.

Seems some anal sphincter muscles are starting to get very tight within the Uvalde PD.

Heads will roll. Resignations will flow. Cardboard boxes are on order. It's always embarrassing when two people bring the same crockpot-dish to the going away party. And all the women want to cheat their lunch hour and get there twelve minutes early.

If this were China...we'd be looking at ten suicides.

Is it just me, or do those uniforms look like they belong to the secret army of a Bond villain? What the hell is going on down there?

Back the Blue all day long but there is a reciprocity in such support. They take an oath to put their lives on the lines and when something like Parkland or Uvalde comes up, we expect them to do just that to save those kids or else they shouldn't wear the badge.

Talked to former Sheriff Lewis the other day and he said the quality candidates who used to become cops no longer want to enter the profession, hence law enforcement is getting a lower grade of recruit. Not to mention all the marches, defunding the police movement, lawyers, lawsuits, Justice Dept. investigations, and advocacy journalism makes the brass more hesitant to use force.

Look at what happened when the police shot that girl who was trying to kill another girl with a knife. Police were villified no matter what the black victim said.

Again, to all of my fellow right wing folk. They don’t work for you. They aren’t here to protect you, they are here to protect the government. They stopped parents from saving their own children. They did so, to worsen the outcome and help push for disarmament of average citizens. Take the Thin Blue Line sticker off your shit. They want you dead.

Maybe those cops got confused and thought they should have been social workers at that crucial time.

Anonymous said...

Now they are blaming their radios. Maybe their K-9s ate them?

8:10 a.m., You realize this took place in Texas, don’t you? Texas led the way in open-carry, etc.

Anonymous said...

I back the blue, but not blindly and not when they are wrong. Most cops are good and do a great job. But, like most professions (mine included) there are some bad apples.

Anonymous said...

8:10. Best comment on the thread. Carry your own to cover your own self.

Respect is earned. Unfortunately, the “good” Cops aren’t willing to hold the bad cops accountable. The few bad apples have spoiled the entire bunch. I think most people would be willing to make running from or assaulting the police a more serious crime with harsher punishments if the police and prosecutors were able to hold the bad cops accountable. I don’t think that will happen as long as gang rules reign over the thin blue line.

3:57- I'd argue that there needs to be more people getting quiet at times and see nothing wrong with it.

Seems one of our biggest societal problems, is the inability to think for one's self and resist the urge to blindly defend anyone or any group.

I am happy that people who normally defend cops are not defending them when the behavior is not defensible. That is how rational people behave.

But enjoy your self-righteousness, and by all means...defend your overlords regardless of the individual scenario.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
