Gone!

A big shake-up took place at the Mississippi Veterans Affairs yesterday.

Executive Director Stacey Pickering and Chief of Staff Melissa Wade resigned their positions last night after the Board of Directors held a special meeting.

This is gonna be a good one to follow!

You have to be somewhere to leave it. Are you “gone” if you never showed up for work?

Ruh Roh!!!!!

I thought Stacey was in position to eat from the public trough for life?

I hope they left the old fashion way, out the window and down the drain pipe.

Too much time at Fort Wilderness?

I remember when Pickering fired a long time auditor staff member when that person was against Pickerings use of a state vehicle. What goes around comes around I guess.

Karma caught up with Stacey.

No one will ever miss them. Not very many even show up for work at the Mississippi Veterans Affairs. Haven't been any doctors working at the Veterans Hospital for two years. No one answers the phone.

This is what happens when you force out the guy who’s job it is to tell you why you can do that. You end up out with six months

@6:03

Funny how right you are. Apparently Pickering is on a family trip and told by zoom. That is going to be a long ride home in the Campaign Finance RV.

The Mississippi Veterans Cemetery Director was also convicted this week! Guess who’s his boss Stacey Pickering!

Great news for Mississippi Veterans.

Good thing you have that online MBA to fall back on

Step 1 get them out. Step 2 put them in jail. Rinse. Repeat

Remember when the mayor of Madison ran against Pickering??? Her slogan was “who is auditing the auditor”. Maybe she wasn’t so stupid after all!!

Anonymous said...

Many of these comments are from the same person. The level of petty you have put on display shows they were right in getting rid of you.

Best thing for veterans of Mississippi since the GI Bill.

So much for Mississippi's Also Ran, or was it Almost Considered?

@6:11 pm. That's certainly what he thought he was entitled to, since after all he carried the Pickering name. But alas, his family benefactor got cast to the side when brother-in-law Scruggs got too big for his britches and the Senator had to resign.

Without Lott there to take care of the family any more, he had to survive on his own when he was 'promoted' to this last trough - after all, it did increase his high four substantially, which was what he was after - and now with it gone he will have to hope the AF will continue letting him draw his Chaplin salary.

But he does have his 15 years of PERS, plus his SLURP on top of that. Not a bad gig, forgetting his use of a state car on top of it all

Anonymous said...

@8:43 - nope, she's still stupid.

How does one not show up for a no-show job?

Anonymous said...

the mscomm on veternsaffairs....... arnt veterans affairs handled by the feds through the VA?
this commission is just one more of the thousand of boards, commissions , and agencies created by the legislature so that politicians can hand out high paying do-nothing jobs with full state benefits to their political cronies.
most ''disabled ''veterans know of are nothing but junkies looking for a free ride anyway.

Let me first say, 3/4 of these comments are coming from people that have zero knowledge of the VA, and MSVA. They’re two separate entities, one being federally funded and the other by the state. Please know your facts before posting. Then you have the inbreeding individuals that can’t speak or spell so that eliminates another 10% of you. The facts of this case aren’t out and before you start throwing stones, I suggest you look in the mirror because none of you are 100% innocent and have failed at one time, or more in your lifetime. As far as Veterans go, and if you are not one, keep your mouth shut. And No, the spouse doesn’t count because regardless of the situation, and unless you we’re in the armed forces, you Don’t Know! Now there are some people that have worked the system for extra disability compensation, but just because the one’s “you know of” that have squeaked through, that’s on you and You need new friends because negativity breeds negativity.

Pickering’s career choices have always been odd. Degree in marriage and family counseling. Ran for state auditor without any accounting or legal training. Next it’s veterans affairs without ever serving in a foreign war, running nursing homes without healthcare experience. He is a chaplain in the guard, without being an ordained minister.

Maybe he will try to be the head of the medical board next. Maybe a judge. The fields available to him are endless.

This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode here Kramer got fired from a job he didn’t have.

I am a veteran. I do go to the V.A. Hospital. Which branch of service did he serve in? Anyone working for the Mississippi Veterans Affairs or for the Veterans Hospital should have been fired a long time ago. They cannot even man the Veterans Hotline. Check into how many lawsuits there is against the Veterans Hospital.

Cheer up there neighbor, even you can aspire to being "disabled"and looking for a free ride.

People need to understand the difference between the VA (Federal) and the MISSISSIPPI VETERANS AFFAIRS (a state agency), the two are not associated. The state agency handles state veterans nursing homes, the Veterans Home Purchase Board and state veteran cemeteries.

Anonymous said...

Veterans home purchase board has nothing to do with the ms Va. separate agency

Anonymous said...

The Veterans' Home Purchase Board has nothing to do with the Mississippi VA. They are a totally separate entity for the state. MS VA manages the Veterans Homes, cemeteries and serve as a liason to the Federal VA for MS veterans.

1:01 smoke machine creates smoke with no fire… just sayin. Much like the person who started this, is all for show

Anonymous said...

Two different people, on two separate occasions walked into his office and, well you know. And the board still almost have them a pass. Tate, time to clean house

Anonymous said...

Dang where am I going to get free MS Braves tickets now??

Anonymous said...

If they resigned, it was either resign or be fired. Wonder how someone that was hired with no experience moved up the ladder as fast as she did. Money that was always tight before Pickering took office was all of a sudden flying out the doors and windows. There is so much more ,but, I will leave this right here. Except to say the Veteran’s Hospital is Federal and Veteran Affairs is run by the state of Ms.

Anonymous said...

If you have ever worked for Stacey, the fact that he is too cheap to get a hotel room should not shock you. Unless the state was paying for it

Maybe some present federal investigations are going back through the era of Reverend Pickering as State Auditor, and how he knowingly engaged in willful ignorance of nefarious activity.

Now, as usual - he gotta protect his PERS.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter if it is federal or state, they should all be fired. There isn't a single one who cares about the veterans. Reminds me when I came back to the states where people were lining up to spit on us.

Anonymous said...

Who knows about what the feds are ivestigating. However many federal crimes have a five year statute of limitations. As Stacey Pickering's term as state auditor ended in July of 2018 some might say that he's likely off the hook with the federales for anything he might have done or not done as State Auditor.

Anonymous said...

What is there that the feds need to investigate about what a State Auditor did or didn't do? Failure of someone to do their job well is not a crime, its incompetence or lack of interest. This is an elective office - the failure to do it is the responsibility of the voters, not the basis for a federal investigation.

Although in today's times, with what the Democrats in Congress have done with their impeachment votes - trying to impeach an office holder that they didn't like - and now being followed by some of the idiots running for Congress (either challenging or for open seats) as Republicans stating that the first thing that they will do is vote to impeach Biden, maybe the tide is turning where incompetence is viewed as high crime and treason.

The idea that feds 'might be' investigating Pickering's term as auditor must come from those of this same stupid mindset. Hell, there is plenty of stuff for the feds to investigate in the metro area today without having to dig through what you feel was incompetence. Now, maybe the inability of the current auditor to read through thousands of pages of emails and realize that the crimes at DHS might, just might, have involved people on the top floors of the Sillers Building might be a cause for investigation ---- that would be called participating in a coverup, which is a crime.

How can this possibly be? Supertalk was always bustin' its ass to get Pickering on Mic. And they only have the best on their list.

Anonymous said...

Shad should take notice. Put the Harvard degree to actual use. Get a $$ job

Sad that this will be seen as a reflection on all MVSA employees. There are some people there who truly care about their job and the people they help. Ones that bust butt and go above and beyond to help with locating documents and such. Or go out to the nursing homes to train administrative staff, and pass on names of those who need to be watched - for poor performance as well as for future promoting. And yes, I know this from firsthand experience. Unfortunately, folks seem to forget about the microscope you live under when in a high level, high profile public service position.

One look at the job openings for Doctors tells the truth. I was set up for a heart checkup that I feel I need for Friday. They re-sheduled me for 3 weeks down the road. Why ? They claimed overbooked. I believe it was because it was after lunch on a g-damn Friday ! And these terds don't like to work on Friday. Gotta get the boat prepped for the Rez. For two years it was running great and now it's back to the Obama years.

7:44-Shad just got a $60,000 raise from $90,000 to $150,000. How about them apples?

Reverend Stacey Pickering better hope and pray litigation from his abrupt “resignation” does not trigger litigation. Discovery would certainly be interesting.

Anonymous said...

I hope the Veterans Board recognizes that it’s 2022! If it’s true that the Director was caught with his pants down involving a female suborbital, that is untenable. Don’t forget about all the females who serve in this state and country looking to you as leaders. Shame on you!

Alienation of affection lawsuits are forthcoming. Lawsuits of other varieties, VERY likely. Like Hank once said, Family Tradition.

It appears a lot of you know more about what is going that has not been made public. If this was a closed Board meeting. How did you get your information?

The offices are mostly glass and walls are paper thin. I find it difficult to believe anyone would try to be anything but professional in that setting.

I can say from my perspective things have been much better with filing claims and so much has been done to help the improvement of the nursing homes since Mr. Pickering took office. The Veteran Cemeteries have received National Recognition and awards for their care and service to our veterans.

The Claims office has been running more efficiently during his time in office. The claims are processed at a State level efficiently and promptly. He has provided excellent training for the State and County employees that work to make the veterans lives better.

I hope the Board in their wisdom did what was best for the Veterans of our State. That being said... continue with your hate.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
