The Clinton Police Department issued the following press release:
CPD Officers were trying to stop a Hit and Run Suspect from an accident on Northside and Tanglewood at 8:55 PM. A witness gave police suspect description and tag number.

Suspect vehicle was seen by another officer at Lakeview and Clinton Blvd. Officer gave out new suspect info and direction of travel, east on Clinton BLVD. A third officer began an approach from Patio Place. Suspect turned on Patio Place and was approaching the third officer head on. Third officer yielded to the right and suspect rammed the officer near the intersection of McDonald Drive.
Officer was injured in the collision and was treated at a local hospital. The officer was released around midnight and is recuperating. Arrested at the scene was 30 year old Robert Maurice Simmons of Jackson. Simmons was booked into the Clinton Jail on multiple charges.
Charges are as follows:
·DUI – first offense
·Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer - felony
·Felony Fleeing or eluding police in a motor vehicle
·Leaving the scene of an accident, attended vehicle – with injuries
·Seatbelt-none
·Auto insurance – none
·Failure to yield right of way
·Disorderly conduct/Disobey lawful order

So sorry the officer was hurt, but grateful he is recovering. Really glad to see these guys being arrested.
Now lets see if Hinds County can get them prosecuted! RSS was overwhelming voted back in. Time to show us what he can do??? Also, if the Judges will keep him locked up.
