I don't blame "gun owners." I blame a country and its Congress who keep allowing these massacres to happen. Australia had mass shootings and passed strict gun control. Now it doesn't have mass shootings.

This is a horrible situation and prayers go out to families and friends of all involved. However, 10:28, you can't compare the U.S. with Australia and think the same thing will happen here. Also, ask yourself this - if our "government" can't keep illegal people, drugs, alcohol during the prohibition, etc. out, what makes you think they can somehow keep guns out? Gun control would likely just open up another profit center for the Mexican cartels among others.

Don't think a debate on either gun control or racism is apt here. What needs to happen is a debate on mental health and what is wrong with our society.

This guy has a grudge against his former employer. There are also rumors or speculation about his past relationship with the reporter he shot. There is nothing new about either of these situations. If this guy broke into her house and shot her, it would go down as DV and we, several states away, would not have heard about it. But that this guy chose to do this on live television, while wearing a body cam is abnormally disturbing.

Again, this is neither a race or gun issue. It is symptomatic of something very wrong in our society.

According to the shooter's "manifesto," one of his grievances was discrimination as a homosexual. So I doubt he dated the reporter.

3:19 - what is wrong with our society is that the mentally ill are allowed to purchase weapons. Just like the shooting in Louisiana (which JJ ignored), we've got an apparent (there we had a diagnosed) mentally ill person who was able to procure a weapon. Shouldn't happen.

Perhaps not romantic in nature. But there has to be a reason he targeted these two. I mean, how did he know that they were filming on that location. Also, one of the tweets posted above says "They hired her after that." One could take that to be a reference to her being hired after he was let go to take his place.

The reporters often tweet or put on FB where they r doing stories. He could have followed the news truck as well.

More "gun control" is NOT the answer. Our constitution protects the rights of citizens to own guns so......we can't ban them altogether. And, while it is a good idea to restrict sale of a gun to a person who is certifiably unstable, that would first require the unstable person to have sought psychiatric treatment...which MOST will not have done BEFORE killing people. But there is ONE thing that will slow this epidemic and that is for the news media to REFUSE to give these reprobates any air time. Report the killing, if you MUST, with a ticker line at the bottom of the screen or in a brief 2-3 line narrative. Then, DON'T MENTION IT AGAIN!! These fools are either trying to make themselves "important" or they are trying to further an agenda of some sort. Don't give the audience they've come to expect. Then they'll no longer be drawn to this particular type of "demonstration". Same goes for Black Lives Matter and any other public agitators.

the guy in Louisiana had been committed to inpatient mental treatment. I'm not sure what this most recent gunman's issues were, but he clearly had problems, likely sociopathic, and also likely, undiagnosed.

If we had the balls to do it, public executions would solve this kind of problem
