Correcting the Wrongs

Lord Protector Tate Reeves issued the following statement.

Today, I’ve issued a call to convene the legislature in special session tomorrow, July 15, at 3pm.
The special session is necessitated by the June 30 expiration of statutes relating to the disclosure of youth records and multiple lawsuits regarding the same.
The agreed upon solution (as proposed and agreed by House and Senate leadership) sets up a far better system for both kids who are abused and neglected, as well as those children facing delinquency proceedings. For the first time, children and families will have access to full-time judges and moves us toward a uniform youth court system statewide.
I am hopeful — and even optimistic — that members of both political parties can and will vote for this common-sense legislation that will help children and families all across Mississippi.
Thank you to Speaker White, Representative Horan, Lieutenant Governor Hosemann, Senator Wiggins, Senator Hopson, and the many other members of the legislature who have been involved in getting us to this solution.

This reeks of Brice Wiggins politics.

That guy loves power plays.

Reform for the sake of reform, always leads to the need for more reform.

They'll pass some youth court bill that will accomplish nothing, yet pass the costs of it to the local taxpayers as an unfunded mandate, and cause property taxes to go up. Property taxes are what funds these unfunded mandates passed down to counties by the legislature. They'll pass a bill, but send no money with it to cover what the bill costs to implement on the local level.

Nothing can be accomplished on the voter intiative idea, huh Tater. In the spirit of America 250 our forefathers fought and died fighting despots who cannot hold a candle to the narcissist power hungry Politicians we have today locally and nationwide 🤔

On the very last day of the session, House leadership adjourned and left the Capitol for the year around 4:00 PM. Meanwhile, on the other side of the building, Senate Judiciary Chairman Brice Wiggins was literally standing at the podium presenting the bill, completely unaware the House had already packed up and gone home. Because the House had adjourned, the bill instantly died. We need to start docking pay for not doing your part-time, seasonal job.

That's about as clear as mud....why can't they just explain it in simple terms?

Who pays for this? If the governor wants it then let the state pay for it. It better not come back to my county property taxes bill! ! What these little nut heads need is a butt whipping not an another judge! Lots of talk of less government. Actions show otherwise

Confusing to those of us who are not among the elite. But, since Brice Wiggins is involved...a call of High Alert is issued. It's also suspicious when Tate's writer gets wordy.

What we need Pappy is to get ourselves some of that there re-form

There is a real problem to be fixed. Let's just say the fiasco wound up protecting child molesters. Leg is having to come back and fix the law. Mississippi Today has two good stories on it. I linked one of them.

For years, Mississippi colleges and universities didn't have BSWs and MSWs degrees and as a silly policy wouldn't recognize the experience or degrees of those moving here because their lack of qualifications here wouldn't pass muster in other states.
I hope too, like in other states, those in Child Protective Services have to be the most experienced social workers and there needs to be a good relationship with the Sheriff's department in every county. Those sheriffs and their deputies may be going with the social worker to protect her when she has to remove a child from their parents. I'm still not sure the department has gotten rid of all the employees who had " years in" but no " experience" as I was recently appalled by a placement. Indeed, some foster care placements have appalled me as well. It's a bit of culture shock to move children from poverty into a wealthy home where the adults have zero education in or understanding of the cultural, social and economic adjustments the child will confront.

7:18 am, Brice Wiggins personifies why people hate politicians.

He has a history of acting without regard for the people who actually have to live with the repercussions of his personal agendas. His word means nothing, and he’s drunk on the power of his “elite” position.

And your implication that those of us who call it out are simply ignorant or illiterate makes me suspect you might actually be Brice Wiggins.

Not their fault….had to get to Tico’s you know.

The Twitter Yappy Dog loves him some Brice Wiggins.

The word Buffoonery, in any American English dictionary compares Wiggins and J. England, both who foolishly see themselves in the Lieutenant Governor's chair one day.

And that is how we run this state boys. . Deny, delay and eventually it doesn’t matter so it continues to snowball. For instance, hinds county supervisor Archie/Smith. That is so corrupt, it is like low hanging fruit that is easy to be seen and corrected. It isn’t a difficult case. But the governor is as bad as the hinds county DA office has always been in releasing career criminals. The king in charge delays until it doesn’t matter any more. No action causes the same damage the wrong decision does. The problem still exists unattended. The simple truth outside the character noise is that this case could be the beginning of something new and unheard of here. You know where the leaders and election forces are held accountable and it forces transparency so that corruption cannot proliferate. When left unattended, corruption morphs and snowballs and you end up with the current results: capital of the state is a mess, prior leaders in prison or should be, crime out of control, state ranked low in all quality of living standards and medical care in this state is 5-10 years behind he national standards. I could go on and on but if YKYK. I see absolutely no difference between the political parties here. They all have the same color: murky, dark where greed is clothed in darkness.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
