Jackson Loses Coca-Cola Plant to Madison County

The Mississippi Development Authority issued the following statement.

Clark Beverage Group, a leading distributor of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages like Coca-Cola, will add 30 new jobs with its $100 million expansion in Madison County.

The expansion involves the addition of new sales and distribution facility, as well as the acquisition of more equipment to better serve the consumers of Mississippi and neighboring states. The company’s investment will help support more local suppliers, and the new employees will be paid above the county’s and state’s average wages.

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance in support of the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX. Madison County also is assisting with the project.

Clark Beverage Group, a fourth-generation family-owned bottler, is headquartered in Kentucky and started distributing Coca-Cola in 1903. The company offers a diverse group of national and international brands of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi and Tennessee and employs about 950 people across the five states. Clark Beverage Group operates five locations in Mississippi.

The new facility is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2025.

QUOTES

“We’ve created an environment that makes it easy to start and grow a business in Mississippi, and because of that companies are expanding across our state. Clark Beverage Group’s expansion in Madison County will create 30 good-paying, high-quality jobs for Mississippians and further strengthen Mississippi’s already strong economy. This is another win for Madison County and Mississippi.” – Gov. Tate Reeves

“MDA is proud to support Clark Beverage Group’s new location at the Madison County Mega Site, which is certainly an economic boost for the area and entire region. But most important is the fact that 30 new opportunities are being created that will positively impact Clark Beverage’s new employees and their families now and well into the future.” – MDA Deputy Executive Director Laura Hipp

“This $100 million investment and expansion into the Madison County Mega Site represents Clark Beverage Group’s commitment to our employees and their families for growth, as well as our strong relationship with our consumers and communities which we serve every day in Mississippi.”– Ken Skutnik, Clark Beverage Group Chief Operating Officer.

“Madison County welcomes Clark Beverage Group to our growing industrial base and is excited they have chosen the Madison Mega Site for their state-of-the-art facility.”  Madison County Board of Supervisors President Gerald Steen.

Kingfish note: The current Clark Beverage plant is on NW Industrial Parkway in Jackson.

It will close when all those jobs move up the highway.

Wonder why they are moving out of Jackson- Jackson is the most radical city , isn't it?
I bet it could have something to do with those PCLEO

Another one leaving Jackson.

The Chowke crime family won't get a piece of the action. So sad.

Madison and Rankin counties are about to be overwhelmed by the corporate refugees escaping the 3rd world business climate in Jackson.

MDA incentives and a press release regarding 30 jobs moving three miles up the road.

This post says 30 jobs. MCEDA director Joey Deason says 300 jobs.

Jackson gunfire in the rear view mirror.
Keep up the good work Shock-way in the most radical center in America

You do know what this means-
Property taxes to be raised on homes in NE Jackson to replace lost revenue for JPS

Lumumba and the NAACP is taking Jackson down the tubes

Rankin would have been a better choice.

Jackson, that huge sucking sound you keep hearing is the sound of your tax base leaving your city.

Are they actually moving the plant from Industrial drive? Or is this a foot out the door to move out of Jackson. I used to drive Industrial drive to downtown Jackson when I was living on Northside Drive in Clinton.

I know they've been working on this for at least a year. It's north of the County Line road and Highland Colony Parkway intersection. Pretty good location for getting on and off I-220.

1:57, Why would Rankin County be a better choice?

I live in Madison County I disagree with the State giving tax credits to move to another location just up the road.

30 jobs is not such a big deal. Does not matter if jobs are in Madison or Hinds County. Probably have same employees.

One more big hit for Jackson.

Doesn't really matter anymore. Jackson is done. Forever.

They will be back, the urban spwarl, will teach them!

You can't bottle beverages while having to deal with all that turbidity.

Great news! Congratulations to MCEDA

It's only been a few decades since Jackson Coca-Cola Bottling was owned by Jacksonians.

Didnt CoJ under one of Harvey's terms get a big 220 exchange built for the Jackson Coke plant folks' Industrial area?

Dear Kingfish
Thank you for sharing another great win for the JACKSON metro. I missed where you shared the Berk Enterprises ribbon cutting that I invited you to on November 1, 2022. This is a new business in the NW Industrial Park.

I also missed this press release on your website https://selecthinds.com/news/news/?id=20069

Good things are happening in Jackson and Hinds County. I look forward to visiting with you so I can tell you and your audience more about it.

MDA is expending resources to move a business one county over? I thought MDA existed to bring new business to the state. Doesn’t sound like conservative policy to me. Oh wait, they are helping it move from a democrat county to a Republican one. So, okay, good ole conservative fiscal policy at work.

"This post says 30 jobs. MCEDA director Joey Deason says 300 jobs." I took it to mean 30 new jobs on top of what they already have.

No doubt 4:03. clearly Jackson is on a roll. Losing over 55,000 people is no big deal. All is great in "The Best of the New South" and the "Bold New City". Phucking dreamer, and I live in the remnants of 39211.

The only "good things" happening in Jackistan are the enrichment of the Chowke Crime Family's net worth.

Anonymous said...

I want good things for Jackson. And I am all for celebrating the small victories.

But 4:09 needs help if they think this is a R vs D event.

CocaCola is only interested in money. If your Dem policies are not producing that, then that's on you.

Actually cheering for your Capitol city to fail (don’t give me that nonsense about how you actually wish for the best for the city. That’s bullshit, and you know it).

Mississippi deserves its last place standing.

Jackson keeps voting for failure so failure is what I shall wish.

MDA giving money to a company to move a few miles north is typical of how absolutely worthless MDA is

Anonymous said...

I can see Madison doing a press release for this and congrats to them.

But MDA doing a press release for this? Are things really that slow in state economic development that we have to crow about using state resources to help a company move 5 miles?

Years ago, a friend of mine owned the Coca Cola plant in Mississippi. She has passed away now. She was such a lovely lady. I hope her daughters (A and W) are doing well.

@4:03

Tamika Is Delusional... She thinks the clowns running this city and county can turn a turd into a diamond... Don't be a clown, Tamika... so unattractive.

Poor Clark Beverage. Whatever would they do without the brain trust at MDA to guide them? By the way, check the campaign finance reports.

Anonymous said...

Don't lose your voice cheering 5:03. This is as close to a given as I have ever seen. Seeing Jackson and 39211 a mere 8 years ago compared to today is breathtaking.....and they don't give a shit.

Anonymous said...

They aren't just moving; they are building a new and larger facility from scratch.

Anonymous said...

@2:40 - Please tell us what MCEDA had to do with this. Well, other than misquote the number of new jobs.

I guess next we'll see Banks and Steen claiming credit for the relocation.

PS: What 'alcoholic beverages'?

Anonymous said...

Rankin would have been a better choice. May 1, 2023 at 1:57 PM

Really? Why is that? Other than it being impossible to negotiate either interstate highway or 49 from anywhere in Rankin.

Anonymous said...

7:41, I'll drink whatever you are having.

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with the posts congratulating Madison and agree with the posts wondering WTF MDA has to do with this. I can only imagine that MDA got a call from on high saying make this happen.

Anonymous said...

surprise surprise!

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't be surprised if Clark Distributors rethinks this and pulls out all together since Coca-Cola is the next Bud Light. Only a matter of time. I know a guy in their corporate Atlanta office - and they are woke as fuck.

Anonymous said...

Right. The only difference is there are dozens of crappy beers that can replace Bud Light. There's only one Coca-Cola. They'll be around forever.

One of the best things about being in Jackson is running into fewer miserable, tiny hands losers like 2:35. It’s a quality of life enhancement.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.

There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets.
