Crash Ends Chase

The Pearl Police Department issued the following statement.

Pearl Officer attempted a traffic stop on a Volkswagen Passat at the intersection of Hwy 80 and Hwy 49 because neither the driver nor his passenger was wearing a seatbelt at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday evening. The driver fled onto I-20 westbound. Our Officer pursued and the suspect took I-55 south.  While traveling south near Elton Rd, the suspect rear ended another vehicle. The contact caused the suspect’s vehicle to flip several times in the southbound lanes. The Pearl officer’s car was damaged in the accident. Neither the bystanders nor the Pearl Officer were injured.

The suspect, Jared DVaughn Owens, 23 from Madison, suffered a head injury and was transported from the scene by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. His female passenger from Jackson was not injured and released with a citation.

Officers found numerous narcotics in Owens vehicle including:

Powder cocaine

Marijuana

Methamphetamine

Ecstasy pills

THC vape pens

3 guns / 1 gun stolen

Large sum of money

Pearl Mayor Jake Windham said, “It is unfortunate this ended in a violent wreck and the suspect was injured, but he did not have to run. We are grateful these illegal drugs and weapons are off the street. We hope this young man recovers and will answer to the charges. We are thankful there were no other injuries.”

When Owens is released from the hospital he will be charged with:

Felony fleeing

Possession with intent to distribute X2

Trafficking controlled substances.

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.

Kingfish note: A Madison County grand jury indicted him for possessing a controlled substance in 2020.  Circuit Judge Brad Mills approved his entry into the pre-trial intervention program.  Judge Mills dismissed the indictment in July 2022.

I don't see any head injury in that picture. That must be a picture his mama sent to the Kingfish for publication here.

So, to be clear, the female passenger, who received a citation for no seat belt, was totally unaware of the Powder cocaine, marijuana, Methamphetamine, Ecstasy pills, THC vape pens, 3 guns / 1 gun stolen and
Large sum of money.

Will Madison County please keep its thugs and drug dealers out of Hinds and Rankin Counties? Thank you.

Ricidivist behavior has become commonplace in every city going easy on criminals. Yet, it continues with increasing frequency. Past time to install more judges with teeth.

Attention any members of the MS Legislature !!!

Please upgrade the punishment for felony fleeing and spend some money on a public ad campaign to inform the public of the new punishment.

This is happening daily all over the country and I believe if the punishment becomes severe enough, we might reduce these events.

Great job Pearl PD!!

Reckon that head injury knocked some sense into him?? I doubt it.....

He is a shill. We paid him to give a Madison address to discourage Jacksonians from moving here.

He was also arrested by JPD on 7/21/2021 for aggravated assault and possession of weed.

In a Law Enforcement twist, Brookhaven arrested the mama of a 13 year old public menace self named the "Devil". He had been shooting at cars and people, her charges included delinquency of a minor.

Isn't parental responsibility what Stokes advocated in Jackson?

Guess Pearl isn't worried about the three weapons, with one being stolen. Not even going to enhance the drug charges based on having firearms?

The cop chased the driver (putting the other people on the road at risk) over a seat belt violation?

Sounds like a silly decision that put innocent people in danger.

9:10 - I doubt very seriously if anyone in a moving vehicle can tell if you're wearing a seat belt or not in your moving vehicle. They probably knew who the guy was and what he was up to and used that as probable cause.

@9:15AM

I have been pulled over in Pearl for not wearing a seatbelt. They are trained to watch for things and well trained to boot.

@9:10AM

A drug fueled thug with a car load of guns who clearly has no regard for his own safety or the safety of innocent bystanders seems like a threat to any decent civilization. HTH

Any chance of that large sum of money being the exact amount of the traffic fine?

We are caught in a big circle. Some people want to get rid of all of the guns. Some people want to let thugs and criminals out of jail. Some of the people want to be able to protect themselves from the thugs and criminals that are let out of jail. They are forced to buy guns to protect themselves and their families. When are people going to wake up. If you keep the thugs and criminals in jail like you are supposed to do people will not be as likely to buy guns to protect themselves.

If you have a problem with people buying guns for their own protection, put the thugs and criminals in jail and keep them there.

9:10, it's kind of like fishing. When the "bait" is swallowed by the "fish" (aka fleeing the police), one doesn't know how big and what kind of the "fish" (aka criminal) is until he/she is "in the boat"(aka police vehicle).

Good thinking! In a town where anyone driving after the stroke of 10 gets pulled-over on some pretext, it's hard to be a druggie layabout. So, I was wondering where in Madison there were still any bad-uns.

I was hearing about a cluster of "old Madison County Bad Kids" which has finally been cleared-out. These were White Trash leftovers from Pre-Mary days, and four houses, IN A ROW, have had their occupants hauled-off, in recent months. It's amazing how it happens: PoPo vehicles, FPD vehicles... Red lights... blue lights... all kinda lights flashing... multiple agencies descend upon a house (they keep coming, until there's no room left in the street for more vehicles), and the miscreants inside the houses get loaded into some of those vehicles. Then, inspectors, at One in the morning, determine the houses to be "Unsafe for Human Occupation", and that's that. The houses get remodeled, and go on the market at stratospheric prices. It's a miracle!

Somebody sent me a video of one of those "Bluelight Jamborees". The neighbors filming, are singing that old Motown song from 1962,
"I see the lights! I see the party lights! Red and blue...", while the druggie neighbors are being hauled-off.

Pre-Mary days??? That has to be from back in the 60's.

9:53 - I don't care how well trained you are, no one can see through tinted windows from that distance and while moving.

10:32 Igmo... you make up much?

The "kids" from pre-Mary days are retired grandparents now or asleep in Natchez Trace Cemetery. Try again.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
